  1. I think you'll find he would need a serious boost in testosterone injections!
  2. Who cares? They were up for a number of years and won 3 premierships in the process. I'd take that every day of the week.
  3. I've never been a huge fan of McDonald's. This has been because of his pretty poor decision making in the past, as well as his very poor disposal. Having said that, he has always had a very good tank for a big bloke and been a good mark. If he can show improvements in his 2 downsides, he will fast rise up the key-defender ranks in the AFL. His game against the Suns reminded me a lot of Rivers, he took a lot of releaving intercept marks, which was more than handy!
  4. i'd say the likely number would've been closer to 22,000 members for us. It was Hawks home game, so i reckon between 40,000-45,000 hawk supporters would've shown up. So roughly 68-70% of MFC members compared to 60% Hawks.
  5. I am huge fan of his physicality, his presence, and his willingness to do the 1%ers.
  6. I'm all for talking about ways to improve our list, but surely this can wait until October after our season is finished!
  7. I guess Yze_Magic was right, after all these years!!!
  8. vandenBerg, is of dutch origins. Spelt 'van den Berg' in Dutch (but vandenBerg as a surname - without spaces), it translates to "from the mountain/hill"
  9. It can be done Mono. The sun for instance, will eventually get so large and dense that it will collapse into itself and form a black hole. Sucking all types of matter into it's core. Now, given the sun's magnitude pales in comparison to said recruiter, it is quite a plausible theory.
  10. I totally agree with your take Bendigo Demon. Roos has had 1 season as coach and 2 in the off-season. In that time he turned over half of the list. He still has 2 years as coach including 1 during the off-season. I don't expect the changes to the list be as numerous, but he still knows that much work still needs to be done. I have 6 definite-delists come the end of the year (McKenzie, Spencer, Bail, Jones, Terlich and Fitzpatrick) - this is just my opinion. I have at least half a dozen more, that if they put in another poor year, could be on very thin ice. That's 12 players out of 40, or 30% of the main list. By the end of Paul Roos' tenure, he will have had enough time to move on the players that aren't up to it. As much as our list looks different now to when he first took over, Roos will ensure that it will look much different when he leaves, to where it is now. Roos signed on for that extra 3rd year because he knew that it would take that long to start getting our club to head in the right direction. Anything less than that and we would yet again be in for another false dawn.
  11. Mountain out of a molehill. Clearly someone is trying to disturb either the MFC or Lumumba, being right on the cusp of the season and all. An issue that was seemingly put to bed over 2 years ago now decides to pop-up again...............convenient! Heretier should use it as motivation for the season. If all goes to plan, come September he can light a big one on the premiership dais for all i care!
  12. Not to have a go at Roos, but i often found at Sydney (even in their Grand Final years), that their offence was way too dour. Happy for Goodwin to realise that some attacking flair is needed.
  13. Throw in pet memberships and you can halve the Hawks members tally!
  14. Don't forget the leadership and playing group either. From what i hear, they weren't all that happy with a few of his decisions during his time as a Demon.
  15. Probably, but we'd still be fools for not signing him anyways.
  16. He's just put off contract negotiations, according to The Age. Demons high-flyer Jeremy Howe puts off contract negotiations For the many highlights he provides, he doesn't actually do much on the field besides that. If we were offered pick 6/7, i'd jump at it. Throw in Grimes and Bail whilst we're at it (though that may lower the pick we get back).
  17. As athletic as McDonald is, his decision-making and footballing ability is sub-AFL standard, worryingly so.
  18. Out of all those that come OOC this year, the most important signings imo are Gawn, Salem and JKH. The most important one thankfully, has already signed a 4-year extension. Onya Skipper!!!
  19. Now that's very harsh wattsup, a dog has way more loyalty than that snake (MC). It's all a little too convenient in the way it's turned out for Mitch.
  20. And what is your 3km PB, DD? Why don't you try and run at 12km/h for 15 minutes on a treadmill, before saying it is quite slow! I think you'd change your opinion pretty quickly. Remember that such a speed would be a minimum cruise mode for the players' to get around the ground when not near the contest.
  21. A good year for us is if we are able to get ourselves out of the bottom 4.
  22. Quite excited to get H into our backline. Sure a lot of the time he runs and then bombs it, but that isn't a bad thing for us, as we currently turn the ball over in the mid-field or half-back line. Heretier will at least kick it over the midfield and hopefully up to our forward line, allowing our defenders more time to reset and better defend the incoming turnover. Better to turn it over 100m away from goal than 50-60m!
  23. Sure, Brayshaw and Petracca have more developed bodies than most draftees, but they have only ever played against younger bodies in the Championships and TAC Cup. Give them a few games at VFL level first, so they can better adapt to the rigours and speed of AFL footy, still a big jump from VFL to AFL but not as great as coming straight in. Ollie Wines is the exception not the rule, even for bigger bodied mids.
  24. We may have been ther first, but i reckon most Irish 'experiments' besides Jimy Stynes have been a complete flop (Taigh Kennelly aside).
