  1. This is in no way aimed at us. As we sought approval from the AFL to fly Scharenberg over for testing and for the AFL to fund said testing and provide all other clubs with the medical reports if needed. We sought their permission before acting, asked for them to pay. So it seems we played well and truly by the rules.
  2. That's if compo is still around come the end of next year.
  3. Of course they would. They'd get wood just over the thought of a left footer who is a good kick.
  4. about as much chance of that happening, as there is of Scharenberg falling to pick 9. Would be a bumper draft if we were able to nab those 2 at picks 9 & 40 respectively!
  5. Jesse Hogan convinced to sign a 5-year contract, but only on the provision that PJ and PR did likewise? One can dream can't they!?!?
  6. Quite simply, he's not a Victorian. For whatever reason, GWS seems to be hell bent on bringing in as much Victorian talent as possible.
  7. would rather Cameron Giles, myself, but to each his own. I do agree we need another KPD though (among many things)
  8. Maybe we flew him out, and let the HS in on the knowledge so as to force a team with a higher pick to select him earlier than wanted, allowing the true player we are targetting to slip through to us at 9.
  9. I know we are in no position to get greedy, but maybe we are trying to continue with the co-major sponsor type deal, one for front and one for back. 2 new major sponsors, and both on display come draft time? Wishful dreaming, but hey, PJ did land Roosy!
  10. if there is going to be one, then i'd imagine it would be before the draft, thereby giving the chance to air the sponsor at a big AFL meet with our pick #9 draftee. Roosy presents our first round pick with his guernsey, with the brand new sponsor on our jumper in front of the cameras, then include the initial announcement and press conference with all the MFC heavyweights (PJ, GB, PR, etc). 2x media exposure for the sponsor. Well that's my take anyway.
  11. What are people's thoughts about picking him up come draft time? Going by the article he is a long and accurate kick, got a good size body on him and could play a role in our back line. We need as many good kicks out of it as possible, given the current standard. I'm all for drafting him at 40, if no decent player drops down the order. http://www.afl.com.au/news/2013-10-29/fuller-kept-under-wraps
  12. Machsy and Dees2014, What is it about Lennon that you like for you to have have him ahead of Nathan Freeman? I only ask because of the 3, i wouldn't mind one of Freeman, Lennon or KK come our pick 9 (in that order).
  13. What i like about Freeman is the muscle he has in his legs. He is stated as 85kgs, and by the looks of that, particularly in a full body shot seen on demonland of him, a lot of that muscle is from the waist down. If you've got strong legs, generally you are able to withstand tackles muxh better and remain on your feet. Have a look at Ollie Wines, his legs are enormous, and he goes alright in the middle.
  14. Apparently even with pick #2, there were 3 players we were interested in drafting and are still hoping at least 1 (if not all) of those 3 will be thereabouts at pick #9. As has been reported, we have been closely following Kolod???? (whatever), have been rumoured to have strong interest in Freeman, and according to Emma Quayle are also interested in Lennon. I'd be happy with any one of those 3, but my preference would be in the order of Freeman, Lennon then Kolod???? Purely because Freeman is/has been a pure mid, whereas Lennon is considered more of a HFF-mid and Kolod??? HBF-mid.
  15. It seems all the trading we needed to do, we have done and in a flurry of activity within the space of 48 hours. Anything extra we get out of the remainder of the trade period will just be a bonus.
  16. Written in a Herald Sun article in today's paper that the MFC strongly believe that if Tyson was available in this year's draft, he'd be the clear #2 selection behind Tom Boyd. Make of that what you will........................
  17. That may include upgraded rookies though. So if we were to upgrade Clisby, we'd only need to draft 2 players. Obviously pick 9 and then our next pick (40?).
  18. yeah i feel that our after 2nd round compo pick (which has now become pick 23, is a bit overs for Vince). Couple the pick with the one we got from GWS (54?) and get both Vince and Lyons.
  19. SO GWS were offering Bugg + Buntine + pick 9 for our Pick 2. MFC should go back and say Shiel + Pick 9 for pick 2. Of course that will be rejected. We then go back and say Shiel for Pick 2, it makes it look like we are being the more reasonable by bringing in our demands. 2 players plus pick 9, into 1 player plus pick 9, into 1 player. Hopefully that dimwit SOS will at least see it that way, lol!
  20. pick 20 for Vince is a bit overs imo (given he will play for 3 years then probably retire). If it allows us to get Lyons for a pittance, then it'd make it a bit easier to swallow.
  21. Only interested in dealing with GWS if it involves Dylan Shiel, otherwise no thanks. As had previously been said, to get quality you've gotta give quality. We know that they want Boyd at 1, and are really fond of Scharenberg, well they need to rightly cough up something good for us.
  22. Frawley talks about leadership and wanting to remain in the leadership group. Well, what better way for him to display such qualities by committing to a long-term deal.
  23. What should happen is FA last for a week, then the following 2 weeks is the trade period. That way, clubs know the compensation they'll receive before the trade period begins.
