  1. I know Im looking for clues but sitting behind the interchange today I noticed that most players slap each other coming off and on. There are no lower and quicker hand slaps than those given back to the hand held out by TS. probably nuthin'..
  2. At 5:00 I put $20 on the Dees. I reckon it is a good bet as we may catch the pies napping.Gee i wouldnt mind some of the 12/1
  3. Didnt Robbie say the other day that the siren went as the ball was in the air before Bucks marked it? I couldnt hear it from where I was sitting (near the fence about Bay 13 position). I was all choked up watching Robbie manfully shake Tucks hand. Dozens of people around me were very emotional.
  4. Quite a lot of blaming the messenger these last few days. I for one appreciate you putting forward a view which seems unhappily to show Jack may be in fact lucky to find a good defense.
  5. I would like to add my best wishes to Chris and his family.
  6. The punches are harder to roll with as you get older. I am 55 and grew up in an essendon household. Strangely all 6 kids had different teams then. Most ended up following the dons and one Hawthorn. I stuck staunchly with the dees. Mcc menber since 1977, played footy on sunday and went to see the dees play. Top deck out in the sun next to the bar. In the eighties we won more often and there was always Robbie to watch. Then on the steps in front of the Bull ring in the 90's we got competative, down the end where my mates could smoke. There was always light at the end of the tunnel. MCC/MFC member, I thought there always enough time if youre good enough. Now with kids who dont really feel the need to to the footy, Im getting sucker punched yet again. People think Im getting grumpy as I get older. Im looking for clues... My carlton and essendon mates are sure they will win a flag within a couple of years as they dont have to wait more than 7. I saw the lifelong relief that Swans supporters felt when Roos said 'here it is". I try not think that I will never see it. I dont want bailey to go, but I want success. It is disspiriting to see long term supporters of the Stynes/Bailey era wanting the axe to fall.
  7. I believe that we have invested too much in Bailey at this point. We doubled up on a risky bet. We now need to let it ride for the rest of the year and support him until then. Otherwise after a quick honeymoon with a new coach the rest of the season will most likely fail with "new structures" being IMO legitimatly blamed. However At the bottom of it I smell the eternal softness of MFC playing group that only disappeared under John Northey. I have, like a lot of others who are reasonably more discreet(more conservative?)in their keyboard enthusiasm have only now posted the fact that they have now marked Bailey's card. In ink, not pencil. Now we need to hold fast to these conclusions even if a few unlikely victories try to sway us. Looking outside the square? In my opinion Buckley is available if Malthouse gets a back-to-back. I rate matthew Lloyd as well.
  8. One story goes along the lines that when Roos returned from USA he moved back into his Nth Carlton home and told an old friend that he would be at Carlton in 2012. Not specifically that he would coach just that he would be there. That was late last year, soon after that there were noticeable rumblings coming from CFC that Ratten needs to do better in 2011 and that he needs to at least win a final. In AFL promises arent worth the paper they are (not) written on, and the blue baggers are worse than most. And it is possible it was just a sarcastic aside from Roos. But I believe the comment was made. I would like to find decent odds and lay a twenty on the strength of the story that many at the Great Northern Hotel believe will eventuate.
  9. Jamie Bennell If for no other reason than he looks like Bubs from the Wire. And my mad mate who yells out "Bennelli the man on the telly", then laughs himself stupid.
  10. His decision making is slower than Brad Miller. He will get better eventually (I hope) but those that still believe he is in our top 6 need to re-assess.
  11. and stop calling me surly...
  12. I agree that Im surprised that grimes game is given merit but Joel's isnt. Great game overall.
  13. Hi Dennis Damo here. Im in.You still on committee down the St.Kilda bowls club? cheers (i think thats you, may be Rusty Kingswood)
  14. Had my friend Sarah join, she is pretty likely to win unfortunately.
  15. Im in. This years team is Sideways.
  16. Damo

Wouldnt mind being as ordinary a player as Kevin Sheedy...
  17. More than a glimmer, a fresh beam. Thanks must go to his fantastic support from friends and family.
  18. Emmett Dunn was an absolute star with Essex heights under 14's in 1970. Sublimely skilled he grew a foot then he joined Richmond and looked a dill. Now one of the states top cops.
  19. im sure it has been noted and Ive missed it but if the Woods go back-to-Back which is an unfortunate probability, it will be nathan Buckley looking for a new venture not Malthouse.
  20. It is a salient point that Barry Hall has returned very late in his career when it looked for all money(nasher) that he was Max Gawn. I believe "those people"(AFL, Lions,Blues) are now ramping up smaller incidents to cut Fev, however it is one incident that has come to light that really gavanised my mind. Fev would constantly bag players who were doing extra training. Although it could be treated as a joke, this to me is a huge breach from a "senior' player.
  21. I thought Moloney did what he is required to do quite well. I accept his long kicks to suspect positions as long as he bulldozers away efficently and effectively. It has taken me a few years to accept my position...
  22. Fact is that the two teams we play are going to be hell-bent on getting a win against each other. i dont think anything will take that factor away. I think we may be beaten by Crows and might get up against Power.
  23. Brings back a distinct disappointment when Greg Healy was "chosen" over Danny Hughes a fair way back when Robbie finished up. Not sure if the players voted on that one.
  24. I heard a rumour that Paul Roos will be at Carlton next year in at least the same type of role as Bomber at essendon. Roos has a house in North carlton and has (allegedley) told at least one local that he will be at carlton after a year in the USA. It is whispered about a lot in Far North Carlton.
  25. Could go two ways. Will be looking with interest at Riewoldts top 3 price in the brownlow. I really like him as a footballer.
