Captain and Leadership Group ... Nearest the Pin
Damo replied to Range Rover's topic in Melbourne Demons
Yet if he were a what? Qantas Pilot, Rocket Surgeon, America's Cup skipper? He would be captain material. -
Instead of playing dice with Foxtel on X-box, I got what I think is a pretty fair deal with Foxtel for $70pm for 12months. Get Started, Sports, IQHD. No Install fee, No charge for IQHD box. Im a new user, my house is cabled already and I told them that was the deal my work mate got. (He didnt actually get it, but he is an urger so I ran with it and we were both happy) Install 6th Feb.

Jazz, It's Not Dead, It Just Smells Funny - Jack Jack's Jazz
Damo replied to Jack Jack's topic in General Discussion
I guess Im really putting up all my soul Jazz favorites and most of them are recorded during the Demons salad days. Here is something not told in the movie Ray. Ray Charles was a Jazz boy genius before he took to singing R'n B. On this track , an instrumental, he plays both Guitar and Alto Sax. (around the 5 minute mark). The back of my vinyl re-iterates how '50s jazz followers felt spurned (think Dylan going electric 10 years later but on a smaller scale) and never followed him down the road to Rythm and Blues. How long blues is one i turn too late night in my cups at the end of each football year.- 153 replies

Jazz, It's Not Dead, It Just Smells Funny - Jack Jack's Jazz
Damo replied to Jack Jack's topic in General Discussion
Herbie Mann in 1962. It goes for 8 minutes but is Classic Soul Jazz.If you do like it (it is after all jazz flute) check the youtube link to listen to Herbie Manns version of the Classic "Sunny". many versions of this song are available with the most popular being the Boney M disco version. Herbies version is truer to the sentiments of the song (IMO) even though there are no vocals. The song was written by a young guy about his older brother getting killed the day after JFK. Because he wanted to remember him in a happy disposition rather than a lousey disposition he wrote Sunny. One for Two Sheds jackson.- 153 replies

Narrowing in on either Grimes or Trengove for Captain
Damo replied to mdemonski2's topic in Melbourne Demons
One issue I have is the captain needs to be fixed in his role and not in a position where they dont start onfield. If JT or JG are busting a gut to try to play midfield when they can only nail down a flank in 2012 their focus is split. JT would always command some-one thinking about negating him but Grimes might have less game time and be seen as less of a problem for opposition. If Green wants to play forward this year but has to accept he might be filling holes elsewhere, his mind may be 100% on his game without then being possibly burdened with an on field leadership duty as well. IMO this hindered him in 2011. Chip and Jamar have cemented their spots as the best players "in their roles", they dont need to be overly concerned which then allows a wider viewpoint. just saw fans earlier response above. -
Half way through "Boss" and I heartily recommend it.

If its not Green, the playing group must be 100% on board. If not then as I have previously stated I would hope Mark Jamar is able to embrace the role. -
Me too. thanks

Garry Lyon's six-month rescue mission over
Damo replied to Brayshaws' Helmet's topic in Melbourne Demons
Some feedback/scuttlebutt after Baileys dismissal focussed on board members often being in the rooms and becoming very familiar with the players. Having Neil Craig being a conduit between the playing group and the board makes sure there is a seperation of duties. At least thats what I read into it. -
The time of the day doesnt matter to me so much as the date. Having the intra-club only One week before a scheduled NAB Cup fixture seems too close. This may mean we cant see some players put it all (or a fair bit) on the line. At all at all. I expect to read online some good excuses for major letdowns.

I think thats right. If jamar hates Fiji, he doesnt deserve the captaincy. -
Im not sure DC but the X-Box at Harvey Norman for $149 seems to be a great deal anyway. Ive got iPrimus 80 Gb per month and my d/l speed is anywhere from 50kb - 400Kb per second so i will using standard definition to watch a game rather than Hi-def. I must admit all these unknown possible problems have got me a bit leery. I will probably give it a try but it may well be the Elsternwick pub yet again for those few matches that this would all be in aid of.

So Big Red do you think it is worth going with the Foxtel on Xbox to watch the AFL?

Jamar is ready now. -
No DC. If you have a Telstra ISP Broadband package then the d/l are free. If you have a different ISP you are taxed on the d/l. I believe its about 800Mb per hour Hi-def, 400 Standard def..

I cant believe it would be Grimes. Every mis-kick would be scrutinized to buggery. The guy just has not yet made enough of a mark. Let him play mid-field for at least one year (if he can) and actually earn his stripes like Moloney. I would be happy with Jamar, Molony or even Trengove but even JT hasnt set the world on fire.Yet. I would be happy to get 100-1 on Green. Storm in a tea-cup... -
I will go with B.Green 50.

Waiting on Leadership I read this "The characteristics we are after would be no different to any other club or any other sporting club," said Neeld. "We want guys to deliver through actions." and thought maybe the captaincy will change and although I had believed Brad should be given another year, who does he mean? Actions on field makes me think its Brent Moloney, but I was considering Mark Jamar. Cool calm collected, a bit left field but a good if taciturn speaker. Our best ruck, a terrific forward when down there. Big presence. Not a lot of communicating in the obvious sense. A leader? I think so.

Im told that you can get Foxtel on Xbox, then for $19.50 a month you can watch the footy channel on your TV. Xbox are $149 (Im told) at Harvey Norman, it has built-in Wi-fi and the d/l are about 800Mb per hour in high definition. Thats $250 for April till August, all up. Hope its true as thats what i will be doing! whoops plus $70 once a year for Xbox Live Gold.

MFC players you're most looking forward to watch in 2012
Damo replied to Dee-Bortoli's topic in Melbourne Demons
I will be happy with one NAB win. I cant recall the last. -
I too live in Melbourne and my costs include MCC MFC and home internet of which i can claim a component for tax purposes. I wouldnt really use Foxtel for anything other than footy channel. I get to most Victorian matches. I would like to know more about PPV.

I want to see Bate play in the middle. I want to see if Grimes can play in the middle and stay uninjured for most of the season. I want to see most players playing in the positions they have trained for in the pre-season and aren't constantly moved to different positions to fill holes. I want to see Bennell weave some magic. -
Boss with Kelsey Grammer is one new series I have been watching. I think its pretty good.

It is surprising to me that the club has not asked for some of the more brilliant insights and ideas of posters to be removed so others don't benefit...
