  1. Yes it does seem strange that they are mates, but he is good mates with Ezra Poyas as well, which is strange considering what Ive heard on these boards about his dis-honourable discharge. I must add I dont know him and wouldnt say hello out and about.
  2. Every second week Nafe flew in as he is working 2 weeks on/off in Pt Hedland. But he has signed up with the City for 2011 and is bringing Ben Holland(so they say). Instrumental in St Kilda City's Premiership against the odds against Chelsea heights.
  3. yes BK remember him well, and unlike many supporters of melbourne and Richmond, thought he was great, clean hands, great mark, quick and long kick. Very tidy. Looked good but IMO played too wide of Flower (and others) to say whether he was good enough to win 2 brownlows (esp. when Bartlett had won everything else that year), very happy to hear the tiges stormed out though. I actually thought he was better than RDB when he described him as "nothing but a [censored] plumber". Must say Im pretty happy to hear Blease may be that good in your opinion.
  4. You have shown no clue at all. Fantastic for his size and delivery he received. Quite often only shining light. Im betting you never ever saw him.
  5. I was going to say that this is a pretty ordinary thread but stopped to say that... Roger Ellingworth left Melbourne to go to Hawthorn. I would have been pretty surprised if he got a game. Not many I would think! The all time shooting bambi for me was Kelvin Templeton. Say it aint so Joe. Talk about being sold a pup!
  6. I cant believe he was apparently so close to senior selection near the end of the year. Did nothing much for Casey when I was watching. I must have missed it. If so, fair enough. I hadnt seen him play before injury and realise many posters have seen great things maybe 3/4 years ago. I realise Im on my Pat Malone here but I honestly dont know why this kid has so many people thrilled.
  7. Trengove Scully Frawley Jurrah Watts Morton McKenzie Grimes Bennell Petterd Garland Gysberts Maric Bail Tapscott Wonaeamirri Blease Gawn Fitzpatrick Jetta Strauss Spencer McNamara
  8. I realise this harks back to another era but I remember vividly the disappointment in 1988 I felt when Greg Healy became captain instead of Danny Hughes who was our best player. Out of many emerging stars from Slug Jordans Under 19 and then Reserves Premierships, Greg was the up-and-comer who had greatness thrust upon him. I didnt think he wore the mantle well but it was difficult as he followed Robbie, so maybe the chalice was a bit sour... We had as many young stars then as now IIRC. Hughes eventually left but my mind never really changed even though Sugar was a good player...And I never got over the Yee-Haw.(some will know what I mean). Green or Davey for me.
  9. Me. Jamar is a great Ruckman but he is our best Key forward for next year, unless another Hale or Clark arrive. I would rather see a Newton/Spenser/PJ in the center than in the square in a tight last quarter. Jamar is our best mark forward and I dont want to see jarrah and Watts bulking up too quickly. If the question was framed differently I would have preferred to say that I would be happy to have Jamar in the forward line 40% of the match.
  10. thanks bloke for the detailed report. I must admit I was against Cam coming back, and I even was a bit unsure of CC and Jimmy...mea culpa. The synergy and results shown by the board and management really makes me take another think before I put finger to keyboard in angst about MFC.
  11. Well done Jimmy a great career. Well done Dean, great leadership.
  12. I saw Dunn, Aussie and Liam fight it one out to balls that came straight to them. This is money for jam for backmen. Aussi and Liam didnt lead or take front position on these occasions seemingly happy to try to create a loose ball. While you would back Aussie and Liam to win one out on the ground, the first thing to do(in my mind) would be to get out on the lead. It happened so much I thought it was a strategy. Almost every time it happened the ball was cleared.Dunn got a free early but the rest came bounding back inevitably to the half back line. The second reason we lost in my view was because PJ (whom I had been supporting) really showed how inept he is with conditions that dont suit him. To contrast that was the fact that if we could have left jamar at FF we may have snatched it. While not being as dominant in the ruck as normal(but still ok) he was good, real good at FF. A pity there's not 2 real rucks. Third reason: NO Moloney Davey and dare I say, Miller. To have been able to bring in Miller who leads and leads again, in hindsight could have got us over the line.
  13. OK this may not qualify as it is an EX-player. Nathan Carrol should have played today with St Kilda City. They ran out with one less as Nafe who flies down from the NW WA mines once a fortnight to play Full back, was in the big house, due to a dust up.BTW he plays there mainly because he is close mates with Ezra Poyas..
  14. I think we dont get much from Wonameeri. I have looked for the value others refer to, but would play maric.
  15. I have a great fondness for him as well. he really gets better as the year progresses. I have been playing with nicknames for him. Started with bennell...long. Then my mate started excitedly yelling "bennelli on the Tele". (dunno why, we are at the game.) But he reminds me of a character from "the Wire" so I call him Bubs.
  16. it would seem to me that a lot of their woes has to do with the hardest surface of any ground in the AFL.
  17. Brett and his brother Glenn....
  18. and then there was Warren Dean....if we are going to talk about cruel.
  19. I was born in 56. Almost Completely agree with your side, but would have Biann Dixon on the bench instead of Barry Bourke. And Big Carl (God I loved watching him) as 1st Ruck instead of Jimmy. (how rude!) Excellent work.
  20. Thanks Titan! I was so disappointed to have not seen it. A definite bookmark.
  21. I thought Jones game was pretty poor and really showed up his lack of teamwork. He seems to ignore better positioned players and insist on going long. He gets caught way too often. I wonder if he is coached to play that way or is just wilful and um...dumb.
  22. Gee people have short memories of someone I joined a standing ovation for, as he limped around the boundary line only to hear him coating us with s@#$t every chance he could for the next 25 years. An urger and a bully doesnt come suddenly clean just because he is funny.
  23. Thanks SydneyDee i will see how I go. i hope to catch up. cheers
