It is surprising to me that the club has not asked for some of the more brilliant insights and ideas of posters to be removed so others don't benefit...

Jazz, It's Not Dead, It Just Smells Funny - Jack Jack's Jazz
Damo replied to Jack Jack's topic in General Discussion
Thanks Macca - really enjoyed the Duke. Here is one of my favorites, Les Mc Cann and Eddie Harris.Compared to What. Word was that Eddie harris was booked to play the 1969 montreaux Jazz fest with the band but they hadnt had time to practise and ended up getting blasted backstage before coming on.Les told Eddie just to watch and wait for him to come in and do his thing. it worked beautifully and I never knew the original was on Youtube but have just found it. Sock it to me!- 153 replies

'Training The House Down' --- Official MFC pre-season updates
Damo replied to bananas's topic in Melbourne Demons

He's got it all except the ability to cop a hard tag and stand under a slow ball. He wont get as hard a tag as there are now more good players needing coverage. I dont unfortunately, see him taking a whack in a crucial hard fought battle and bobbing up Milne-like.

Betting wise Freo are very good value for the flag @ $34. A safer bet of $4.25 to make the top 4 is good betting as I think they should be evens. You can even get $2 to make the eight. A long time to wait for that ship to come home but safe IMO. I would like to get money on them to make the Granny but cant see it listed. They would not be favorites! Cant see them winning it unless they play the pies...

Nathan Bock suspended for "reckless" breach of betting code
Damo replied to Range Rover's topic in Melbourne Demons
Bock was backed from $101 into $21. Thats a plunge in my book. His family was in court over different matters at the same time, which IMO shows It wasnt an accident. He was let off and if he had have been a Krakouer i wonder if the result may have been a fair bit different. -
Im surprised no one mentions that Essendon were grown men and we were all pretty young at the time. Sheedy's tactics were to rough us up and we didnt have any enforcers. I would hope we would have learnt a lesson or two from that match and just maybe Clark, Sellar Moloney and Tappie among others might be part of the answer.

Unfortunately many people at a certain cafe in St Kilda cast a sneaky peek at Magda's breakfast order. She is back on the good stuff.

And Mike Sheahan was a very good footballer at VFA level IIRC. I would be surprised if Robinson ever played at all.

I get what youre saying Don but reckon it is time to do more than hopefully compete. I am more concerned with Grimes who is on everyones best 22 list(not mine), who hasnt done a full Pre-season in 5 years. People pick him in the middle...

Yes WJ, Its a fair cop, guv. But it is pronounced Doomsday and so I went for the vernacular. And I will match that forgotten tome for my favorite Man in the high Castle which won the Hugo in 1963.

I believe it originates from the old Saxon "Clusterbuck" when many families would be housed in a single dwelling. One of the first changes was when the "f" was written as "b" in the Doomsday book.

Winner - Worst defence counsel argument in history
Damo replied to Range Rover's topic in Melbourne Demons
Defence lawyers are not supposed to come up with an actual defence, they are supposed to relay to the court what happened (according to their client). Seems a chance that the defence client remembered what happened after they saw a possible flaw in the video. -
Unco players are good for the game (like bad umpiring decisions)
Damo replied to Courtney_Fish's topic in Melbourne Demons
In the eighties Melbourne had very few mid-field players that kicked accurate low passes. Flower and Alan Johnson were pretty much it . Many others either couldnt put it in front of a forward on the lead or would telegraph a crap kick into the air Tony Shaw style, or more accurately Adrian Battiston. I remember Garry Lyon advocating the tumble torpedo, as at least the forwards had an even chance of getting under the ball. I would wish someone would tell the Eisholds of the world just kick it into the air onto the fifty meter line and let Darren Bennett take care of the rest. Fast off the mark never too far out, he was crucified when many of our midfielders "looked" for him. Reports say that Neeld is getting close-in players to kick it forward, gaining ground rather than looking for a second option. I wonder if Gaz has something to do with it? -
Does anyone know if Andrew Lovett has nominated?
-
I much prefer Neelds "My way or the highway" than Cameron Schwab's telling us that demons supporters should be very comfortable with the process of resigning Tom Scully. Still irritates me to think of it.

I was a late starter too, having my 1st (and only) at age 45. Good on you HardTack!

This is very big news in my opinion. To finally have a MFC player penciled in at Full Forward is not something we have had at either Sandy or Casey affiliations. To have Brett Lovett and this decision come through makes me as a MFC member, feel closer to the Scorps.

Two sheds Passed away in July, I'm told. I found out about him only yesterday and almost straight after went to my GP for my MRI results and he told me I have badly torn and frayed the Patella tendon in my left knee. I have to give up my regular twice weekly kick to kick/circle work. Its my only sport i regularly do. I pretty much knew what was coming but Two Sheds Jackson didnt. I thought of him when the quack told me and I thought how brave that bloke was. And how piddling this is. His original post is one of the bravest call outs I have read. He put it on here because he didnt want to upset his family but had to scream. Hemingway called it Grace under Pressure. I honestly will re-read his OP if/ when things ever get tough for me. Thanks Two Sheds.

Brett Lovett says gidday.

After his dad got the $200K on top of Toms $6million, my view changed to believe GWS added his dad into the mix to get him over the line. Which I interpret as they really had to throw everything at him in the end. I then lost a lot of my blind fury believing it was a real struggle for him. Or maybe Im losing my edge....thats possible too.

Its good you say that as the gore has turned the WAF way down. By all IMDB reports it does get better. So Im on my pat malone from episode 3. I will stick with it but it will not be aired in Prime time...Its thrilling but not in the same class as the other shows. i.e. the "walking" are comically zombie-like and there has been no explanation why yet. I dont have Foxtel but the Andrew Fraser show "Killing Time" looks good. That starts tonight I think.Hope to hell he isnt played as anything but a leech though.

I get my stuff from the Net. The mob behind Sopranos; Tim Van Patten et al have been behind a few of my favorite shows. Rome - although only 2 series and it is now about 5 years old is really good. Out on DVD Boardwalk Empire and Game of Thrones have come on almost back to back. both excellent. Boardwalk is into its second series. Homeland which was recommended by George on the Outer has been my latest download and it is fantastic. I have tried to get into the Walking Dead but it isnt in the class of the above. I missed too much of season 2 and 3 of BB and am considering re-starting, although many say just go with it from the current series. Downton Abbey series 2 has been the one I most look forward to each Monday (Its on UK TV on Sunday nights). Homeland although totally different is nearly as good. Wide Open Road is a rip off of the Surfing show (Bombora?) that screened last year. I think The Slap is the best local product this year. I tried reading the book but couldnt get into it, as I had no sympathy for any of the characters. If I want to listen to peoples woes that I dont care about I only have to come to work...
