  1. Nice article. Well done, Will!
  2. Absolutely! May not be the most gifted player going around. But, he always gives 100%, and is an important part of the team. I kinda think those who really know what's what (like the coaching staff) rate the lad rather highly. Well done, Nathan!
  3. Newton looked sensational in that first quarter. He showed enough to suggest he might make it, yet! After quarter time the entire team fell apart, so it was hardly surprising that Newton would be part of that. But, when the team was performing well, he was a major part of it. I'd persist with him for another week or two. Would be great if he could finally become that tall, high marking forward we so desperately need.
  4. I believe Robbie Campbell also played a half in the Casey Reserves last week. Would be good if he could step up to the plate sooner rather than later...
  5. Yep. And big Max Gawn is now named as an emergency...
  6. That's an interesting conversation you had with him. His early form at Casey confirms he is trying to turn things around. Certainly isn't too late. And, the FD obviously sees something that most of the armchair experts don't. Otherwise, they would have shown him the door long ago. Would be a great story if he was able to make it, and would certainly make the forward structure a whole lot better. Time will tell...!
  7. I was thrilled to see Beamer turn it on at the Gabba yesterday. 23 touches to half time was a clear message that he wanted to atone for his stuff up and subsequent removal from the leadership group. Who knows? Maybe it could turn out to be a turning point in his career, and we see him take that next step to being a truly elite player. I, for one, would love to see that! (One commentator on radio suggested maybe he should have a night out on the town more often! LOL) Anyway, it was so pleasing to see him respond the way he did. Well done, Champ!
  8. Yeah. Reeks of the "Chinese whisper" thing. Someone says they saw Beamer [censored] at the bar of a nightclub, and next thing it's being broadcast he had a [censored] at the bar!! The guy stuffed up, and is now reaping the results. I feel for him. But, was stupid to be out at that hour before a recovery session, getting blotto and leaving himself open to the typical media frenzy. Sure hope he learns his lesson, and gets on with his job of helping the MFC win games!
  9. If you want some well-reasoned positivity, look no further than Cameron Schwab's most recent Whiteboard Wednesday. THis guy is a true professional. His latest presentation gives good reason to be positive, and to get a little control on the wild emotional roller-coaster ride we often get ourselves on as supporters. Good stuff! Go Dees!
  10. Well said! Clearly, most of the negative posters here have not bothered to take the time to view Cameron Schwab's most recent Whiteboard Wednesday! If you haven't seen it, do yourselves a favour and take a look. It gives a good, well-reasoned perspective to where we are at, and where we are headed. The Club is in good hands, and knows where it is going. I, for one, am on board for the long haul. There will be many more disappointments, like last week's game, along the way. But, I firmly believe we will finally have another Premiership within the next few years.
  11. I reckon Garry is right on the money. I for one could never understand the logic of doing away with the Reserves. Sooner we bring our own back, the better!
  12. A sad way to have to bow out. And stuck on 199 games. Gotta feel for the guy!
  13. Well done, Joeboy. Now, if you could just wave your magic wand and bring it all to pass...!! What a season we'd have! We can dream!
  14. Just one rule this year. No-one is allowed to turn traitor and tip against the Dees...! (Andy, please take note...) LOL
  15. Very sad news! Loved the way he played. Here's hoping for a full and speedy recovery!
  16. C & B, I care! LOL Would be nice. Unfortunately, can't see it happening...
  17. Great to see! Just another proof that the people in control at the MFC have their heads screwed on the right way. We should be impressed!
  18. They did. For a FEW weeks...
  19. The AFL is asking for comments! Let's all take them up on it, and be sure we let them know what we think! Here's what I posted... The AFL is an absolute disgrace! This game was touted as a Melbourne home game. It was therefore Essendon's job to turn up in a suitable, predominantly white, clash jumper. The fact the AFL has thus far failed to succeeed in forcing that mob at Essendon to tow the line is a joke!
  20. Yes, I was pleasantly surprised to see our guys run out in our main jumper. I say surprised, because I really expected the AFL to insist we wear our clash jumper, given it was Essendon we were playing. But, if we were considered to be the "home side", why did we have to wear the white shorts? (I could even go one further, and ask why we didn't see Essendon run out in their new, predominantly white, clash jumper. But, we all know the answer to that one...! LOL) By the way, had a laugh with my daughter when Cale Morton was being interviewed. On our telly, his Melb shirt looked positively pink! (Even though at other times I've seen that shirt, and it's definitely red!)
