  1. With a name like "butcher", what do you expect...??
  2. Actually, it was the CLUB, and not the AFL that suspended him! Well done to the Weagles for acting swiftly and decisively.
  3. Indeed! If my ailing memory serves my right, seem to recall he was our youngest ever Captain. Took over when big brother Gerard defected to the Swans, didn't he? Fond memories!
  4. Gold! Let's hope he keeps his record intact!
  5. I must admit to being a little mystified about Garry's role, and how it relates to the role of Chris Connolly. I guess I've always been just a little vague on what Chris actually does at the Club, and this new (albeit temporary) role of Garry Lyon only adds to the mystery of what Chris Connolly is supposed to be doing. Chris also seems to have become the "invisible man" through the events of the last few days. Can anyone enlighten me? Or, is it just another part of all that's been going on in the Club that is rather baffling?
  6. The Russian certainly hasn't regained his pre-injury form, that's for sure. I'm very pleased to see young Max get another run. He showed something in the few games he played.
  7. Actually, I'm not so sure the jumper wouldn't look better if both the AFL and sponsor logos were moved higher on the jumper. That way, those logos wouldn't detract so much from the "V" shape. Then, the club emblem could be placed at the bottom of the "V". Thoughts?
  8. High Noon at the OK Corral. How fitting...
  9. Haven't seen anything on here yet regarding the bloke who handed Sean Wight's #27 playing jumper to the MFC recently. Seems a young Anthony Bergin (a Geelong supporter) talked his Mum into buying it at an auction back in 1987. Anthony has taken good care of it all these years and, with Sean's passing, saw fit to give the jumper to the MFC. I just reckon it is a wonderful gesture, and we here on this supporters' forum should acknowledge it as such. So, well done, and thanks, Anthony! (Just hope he doesn't feel any sense of ingratitude on the part of the Club if the Mighty Dees turn the tables on his Cats this weekend! )
  10. Col reminds me a lot of Travis Johnstone. extremely gifted athlete who we constantly look forward to seeing become an elite player. Travis teased us with some fabulous talent -- albeit far too seldom. Col's development has no doubt been heavily interrupted through injury. But, this year he has been more consistent and I'm hoping we are about to see the full blossoming of what is a rare talent. He's a tough, uncompromising mid-fielder who can take a mark, and knows where the goals are. They don't grow on trees! A couple of his runs through the middle last week, delivery the ball into the forward 50, had my salivating. So, yes, I really want him to sign another contract with the Dees. I would hate his best years to be played at another club!
  11. How many kids get to grow up and not only play in the AFL, but actually play for the club they followed all their lives? Beamer is living the dream, and making a great fist of it. I am thrilled for him. Great article.
  12. Tell me you're joking!!!!!!!!!!!!
  13. In the highly commercialised world of 21st Century AFL, the dollars are now apparently more important than player welfare and winning games. To me, that's a sad state of affairs. Our next four games are huge, starting with Hawthorn next week. Given what the conditions have taken out of the players last night, our team definitely goes into that next game with a massive disadavantage. As far as I'm concerned, if the AFL wants to promote the game in Darwin, do it in the pre-season with clinics and the like. Not a serious game where premiership points are on the line, and player welfare is compromised.
  14. Yep. Well done, Beamer. Very pleased to have such a committed and loyal person running around in the Red & Blue! And, rapt he's having such a steller season! May it continue!
  15. Absolutely! He's been in the system for a long time, and was cruelled by a nasty injury. Great to see him finally make his long awaited debut. I hope he has a great game. The first of many for the Mighty Dees!
  16. Yep. My first port of call every day, too! Well done Andy & friends!
  17. Yes, this guy certainly adds something to our forward line mix. With Watts & Jamar/Martin as the talls, along with Green, Jurrah & Petterd, it's really starting to look potent. Add a fit Davey as the crumber, and we have a very versatile setup. Then, waiting in the wings we have Cook, Jetta & Maric... Lots to be excited about!
  18. Then, there was the time Channel 9 had the cricket commentary TRIO of: TONY GREIG RITCHIE BENAUD (Um, that's Tony Greig, Greg Ritchie, and Ritchie Benaud...)
  19. Artie, now THAT is clever! Well done! (or is that "well DUNN??" LOL) Just one up on The Master, eh?!
  20. I love it! Almost as good as the time, MANY moons ago, when Collingwood's Patterson was returning from injury, and was still under a bit of a cloud, which made Collingwood's centreline read as an interesting question. The line was: WATT PRICE PATTERSON Yeah. I know. I'm showing my age...! LOL
  21. I've been a fan since the Lions off-loaded him. Still scratching my head as to why they did it. But, their loss is our gain! You can be sure he'll always give 100%.
  22. True. He was out, chatting to Barlow shortly after the siren. No sign of crutches at that point...

    Jeremy Howe

Is he a chance for the rising star nomination this week?
  24. I'd frankly like to somehow squeeze all three of Jamar, Martin and Gawn into the one side. Not sure how we'd do it, though. And, if Tapscott's fit, would think he'd come straight back, too. Seems the selectors will have some tough decisions to make.
  25. Bummer! How did the MFC boys go?
