Yes, fabulous debut. I'm just SOOOO looking forward to seeing him going head to head with one B. McLean next week!
And the Gys will even be running around in Brock's old number 5, just to really rub it in! Love it!!
Go Dees!
Agreed. No team who has ever played in Darwin has won the following week. And, to have Geelong at Geelong in that follow-up game...
However, I don't think Bailey and the team will disregard the game. Rather, they will note it down as another valuable learning experience for the young and developing team. Important lessons will have been added to the Bank as we move forward toward our new, glory days, which undoubtedly will come.
Go Dees!!
Yes, an excellent assessment of a wonderful debut! Once again, a big tick to our recruiters. They certainly seem to have done very well over the last couple of years.
Also have to chuckle at the obvious sense of irony with whoever it is withn the MFC who decides what numbers each new kid will wear. We got Grimes for Johnstone, and Jack now runs around in Travis' old #16. We got Gysberts for McLean, and now he is running around in Brock's old #5. Love it!!
And, yes, I reckon Gysberts has to be in real contention for this week's Rising Star nomination...
Go Dees!!
Back in my day, if I wanted to follow someone it would be on my bicycle! And, it would be called "stalking"!! LOL
(Yep! You guessed it! Another slow day at the office...!)
Redleg, now you're toying with me! How would an old Fart like me know how to ask someone to show me something on their Twit?? Maybe he could just flash it up on his fancy whiteboard next week...?
(Yeah. I know. I'm hopeless...! LOL)
Am I missing something here? They want to keep it under wraps for now, and yet, it seems, half the members on this forum have already seen it, and it's even been trundled out at a breakfast function!
Maybe I'm just jealous...!
From what I saw on TV, we definitely seem to have had the bulk of the local support at the ground.
Somehow, the "Dreamtime Game" seems more appropriate in Darwin than at the "G", anyway! Let's hope it becomes a permanent fixture!
Overall, an excellent post, Burn in Hell. But, like others here, can't agree with your Warnock comment. He was out with general soreness. apparently needed a rest and, due to the match ups, last Sat night was the game he got his rest. He's become our super Mr Reliable down back, and is crucial to our backline going forward.
Agreed! Did you see how fired up he was after kicking one of his goals? There's no doubting he is cherishing his elevation back into the team, and super determined to hold his spot and vindicate his high draft pick.
And, what about that lightning quick gather and handpass to a player in the clear?!!
I reckon the kid has what it takes. Great to see!
Shucks! That sure is a problem, eh?!
Happy to lump that problem on our Selection Committee any day!
With all of those guys fit and firing, Oh happy days...!!
Go Dees!
Agree with much of what's been said here already. Game was played in rather oppressive, sapping conditions. We had several guys back for their 1st or second games of the year, and we had an exhausted, lone ruckman.
Also add to that little equation the fact that Choco kept his team out on the ground at 3/4 time (rather than taking them into the cool room), and served them up a right old spray.
Given all of the above, I'm not a bit surprised the Power came back in the final quarter with a real bang.
The fact our guys were able to pick themselves up off the mat, and fall over the line with a win was a fabulous outcome. Given we were looking at a re-run of the Collingwood & Doggies matches, it was heartening to see the boys able to muster enough to withstand the onslaught. Will hold the team in good stead for the future.
Go Dees!
