  1. Hey, Rogue! Thanks for wading in! But, as you can see, seems we are flogging a dead horse. Out of curiosity, do you have any opinion on my suggestion?
  2. Okay, guys. I accept defeat, and acknowledge no-one on here is even remotely interested in the idea of keeping our current alternative strip, with the one change of replacing all the white with pale blue.
  3. I really thought my idea of replacing the white on our current clash guernsey with pale blue was a reasonable one. I'm a bit surprised that, apart from Daisycutter, nobody else on this board is willing to even consider it. Especially given the previous vents against any white on our jumpers from posters here.
  4. Anyone know why he was replaced in the side at the last minute? He's not listed as injured, is he? I thought changes to the team after the deadline (which was Sat arvo for our Monday game) could only be made due to a new injury or illness. Anyone know the rules?
  5. So we all just hide in the corner and sulk? Dunno what we'll do when the sky falls in...! LOL
  6. Thanks for the positive response, Daisy. Unfortunately, I don't have the computer smarts to do a mock up... Based on the few posts, doesn't seem to be too much interest in the concept. Ah well.
  7. Deet, in hindsight, I agree with you. We needed the extra, big body of Warnock to help counter the Collingwood gorillas. Horses for courses.
  8. I don't particularly like the shade of blue in Carlton's clash jumper, either. My point was that the light blue is just as successful as white in satisfying the no clah requirement. I'm not advocating we use exasctly the same shade of blue as them. Just something light enough to satisfy the AFL, while still being "blue". I also am reasonably happy with our current clash jumper. However, there are many MFC supporters who are vehemently opposed to any white on our clash jumper. I therefore offered my post as a possible solution. The actual shade of light blue to be used would be a matter for further discussion. And, I reckon the light blue replacement to the white would look great, just so long as it was the right shade of blue -- especially if the shorts were the same colour.
  9. I realise this subject has been done to death. And, any posts like this are akin to hitting our heads against a brick wall. However... Seems to me that, when our current alternative jumper was introduced at the start of the year, the Club said it was hoped the AFL would permit us to wear blue shorts with the outfit, as they would make the complete uniform look that much smarter. Think most posters on here at the time agreed. Well, as we all know, every time we have fronted up in the white outfit, our shorts have been WHITE. No doubt, at the direction of the AFL bureaucrats. And yet, yesterday, there was Essendon, running around in that pathetic excuse for an alternative jumper (no white in sight), AND red shorts! Why were they not required to wear white shorts?? Then, seeing Carlton's away strip (all light blue, INCLUDING their shorts) I got to thinking whether the MFC away strip could be changed to replacing all the white bits (yes, including the shorts) to LIGHT BLUE. The Carlton away strip successfully meets the requirement of avoiding a clash with jumpers such as our traditional strip, and yet has absolutely no white on it. So, what's stopping Melbourne following suit? I reckon our current away strip would like great if the white was changed to light blue (along with the shorts, a la Carlton). That way, we would also revert to the "Red & Blue". Yes, I realise the AFL clearly has different rules for different teams. But, based on the precendent set by Carlton, how could the AFL possibly refuse? (I speak as a fool...! LOL) Anyway, would love to read your comments on this...
  10. No. All the players named on entire extended bench are usually name in the Casey side until the Melb team is finalised, which will be done later today. (That said, is strange Bartram isn't named in the Casey team...)
  11. Yeah. That's the way I read it, too. If Bartram is fully fit, he'll amost definitely be picked. Looks like Evans might be the unluckly omission. Although, wouldn't be surprised if Sylvia was subject to a last minute fitness test, depending on how bad that corky was.
  12. Agree completely! Well done, Beamer! Well done MFC!
  13. Yes, great to see. Hope the Carlton mob noticed he won it the same game that McLean was dropped. Kind of ironic, eh?!
  14. My link It was Queen's Birthday two years ago when the Magpie Mongrels welcomed Jack to the big time in ignominious fashion. I would love nothing better than for Jack to come out next week, breathing fire, and take his game to yet another level, with a BOG performance. They may have "welcomed" him to the MCG. But, would be real nice if he was able to "farewell" them from our hallowed turf, with their tails firmly stuffed between their legs! This past Friday night he really showed something. And, his emotional actions post-match really showed what a win for the MFC means to him. This picture says it all. Go Jack! Go Dees!
  15. They celebrated too hard? What a load of crap. These past few weeks they have been roundly criticised for their lack of ticker. They had the week from hell in the media. Then, on top of it, their favourite Son, Jimmy, goes in for another round of gruelling surgery (but only after a special pep talk to the team). They then come out on Friday night footy, on the big National stage, and play with real passion. It's an arm wrestle for the first half. They then get a good lead in the 3rd quarter. They are then seriously challenged at the start of the 4th quarter. They answer the challenge, and end the match full of running, for a truly gutsy win. The emotion after the game was that of a group of men who had answered their critics in a most emphatic way. I was particularly thrilled to see the way Dean Bailey, Green, Beamer and Jack Watts acted. This was something special, and they had every right to act the way they did. Bailey, Beamer & Watts have all been under the pump BIG time, and Beamer hit a nasty speed bump earlier in the year, and has been desperate to redeem himself. If they hadn't acted the way they did post-match, I frankly would have been far more disturbed. Their actions were appropriate, and heart-warming! If some tools in the commentary box took exception to it, tough! Now, they have to carry the same passion into the Queen's Birthday clash. A big victory there, and another, similar post match celebration would REALLY warm the heart of this long-suffering, old Dees supporter! Go Dees!!
  16. Indeed! And, to think that just hours prior to the operation, when he could be forgiven for being just a little pre-occupied with his own condition, there he was at Training, presenting his #37 to Max, and following up with an inspirational pep talk to the group. What a true champion! Little wonder the boys rose to the occasion last night! Would have been unforgivable if they didn't!

    Strauss

Think young Strauss deserves his own thread, too. It was just his third game (after Rounds 1 & 2 last year), and I thought he acquitted himself quite well, and did not look out of place. His first two games he looked a bit like a rabbit caught in a search light. But, last night he seemed to play with confidence, and did his job pretty well. So, well done to the young man!
  18. Agree 100%, Jaded. Those four just add SO much to our team. But, on thread, Jordie is sensational. He knows no fear, and just throws himself in without a thought for life or limb. He's like a man possessed! Go, Jordie, yo good thing!
  19. I cringed when it looked like he was gone for the night. His first few minutes in the game were pretty good, and one would have assumed that, to have any hope of winning the match, a fit and pumped Col Slyvia was a necessity. Was great to see we managed to win without him, and therefore with only three fit men on the bench. Makes the win that much more noteworthy than it already is. But, yes, certainly hope he comes up cherry ripe to help demolish the Pies!
  20. I have to agree. Was particularly pleasing to see Cale return to the kind of form we saw a couple of years back. Here's hoping he has turned the corner, and puts in regular, consistent efforts from here on.
  21. Enjoy beating your head against a brick wall, Hillie, do you?? LOL
  22. Agreed. An in-form Warnock greatly stregthens our backline, and gives more flexibility to how Frawley is used. I reckon the combination of Warnock, Frawley, Rivers, Garland and MacDonald gives us tremendous versatility down back. They may not all play in the same game. But, it means we can mix and match, depending on the opposition any given week.
  23. Yes, nice article. I still firmly believe the guy is going to be an important part of our structure as we make our push for September glory. Just hope he learns what he needs to learn at Casey real fast, and regains his spot in the team.
  24. Agreed. Although, I seem to recall that "Chicken" Smallhorn claimed to be the last user of the place kick...? Could be wrong, though. Yes, Bob, Louie & Capt Blood made a great team. They don't make footy panels like that anymore!
