  1. Until we can figure out a way to beat Richmond and Geelong at the MCG, then... oh, hang-on...
  2. Has been outstanding this year. He showed glimpses of this in 2018, but his skill level has increased significantly and now complements his well know endurance and 1%ers. He and Spargo are significant in our structure and pressure and are now using the ball very, very well.
  3. Looks fantastic! (good to see she's watermarked her work on instagram so Port Adelaide can't use it)
  4. Fisherman's Bend is a very been a good option/opportunity.
  5. Just as long as no one points at the scoreboard... then Jack Riewoldt will have to take them aside for a quiet word.
  6. And Geelong was a wet day too. Probably played our best football this year in the wet.
  7. Weideman. No brainer. Happy for TMac to play with a bit more freedom around the ground in the Jackson role and then Weideman and Brown to play the key forward roles they trained for in pre-season.
  8. Thought he might be a sneaky chance this week. Great recognition for a very consistent year.
  9. They've been 'topping-up' for a flag for a long time now and, though close, it never came. Putting off an investment in youth for so long has cost them in picks and development, but has mainly meant that good players went underpaid and are now expecting/promised a huge bump that their output doesn't justify. If this was done a couple of years ago, they would have had some very good trade currency, as it now stands, they have very little. No one on earth would take on Grundy's contract, Pendlebury (their best player) is in his twilight, Howe and Sidebottom are on their last legs as well and DeGoey has flashing red lights all over him. Couple of talented kids in Daicos and Quaynor, couple in their prime in Adams and Moore... but then some massive, gaping holes in the list.
  10. So this is what life’s like when you go for a good team...
  11. Anyone live tweeting the hearing..?
  12. Got a little while to go...
  13. Wait for us to lose a game...
  14. God! How did I miss him!? No, ANB is definitely in. Even with some injuries, selection is very, very tough.
  15. I’m still not sold on Petty; his reputation over the last 12 months has grown and grown the longer he hasn’t played. He’s the new Joel Smith. He may be a gun, but he’s not the first in line imho. I think a spot in the 22 is TMac's to lose, so I’d look to have him play CHB and bring in the Weideman to CHF. Jones out, to be replaced by Harmes and Sparrow in for Viney. I doubt Goodwin would want to see more changes than that, but if Melksham or Baker was in the gun, I’d be happy to see what a more mature Bedford has to offer. HIBBERD. MAY. LEVER. SALEM. MCDONALD. RIVERS. LANGDON. OLIVER. BRAYSHAW. HARMES. WEIDEMAN. SPARGO. PICKETT. BROWN. FRITSCH. GAWN. PETRACCA. JORDON. INTERCHANGE: HUNT. JACKSON. SPARROW. ANB. And one of the following as sub: MELKSHAM. BEDFORD. BAKER.
  16. There was a lot more to Tomlinson's role just just a stopper. He knew and played to the team's defensive system, he has excellent disposal, he can play on tall and small, and, possibly most importantly, he has such a good tank that he doesn't need to leave the ground. The last point could have a huge impact on our rotations going forward.
  17. Shattered about Tomlinson. Was so happy for him that he’d finally found his position, and so happy for the team that we’d finally solidified our defensive structure. Will be impossible to replace.
  18. I would, happily.
  19. My understanding was that we were keen for him to accept a significant offer from the Gold Coast, which would have netted is a top 10 pick (7 I think). I don’t believe we were keen for him to leave to Collingwood for next to nothing. Collingwood came in very late in the process when the GC trade was all but a done deal. Howe accepted significantly less money and we received significantly less in return.
  20. Credit where credit is due - Goodwin is the snr coach and for better or for worse, the buck stops with him. His tenure has seen: 2017 9th 12 wins 2018 4th 14 wins + 2 finals wins 2019 17th 5 wins 2020 9th 9 wins (17 game season) There's nothing too shocking about us playing well and I don't see anything more or less remarkable when compared to similar 'false dawns' with Leigh Matthews' Lions, Thompson's Geelong, Clarkson's Hawks; even Beveridge's Dogs. All these teams experienced a degree of success with a young list, then fell away, only to return to the top a few years later.
  21. Outstanding sustained and intense pressure. Got about as much chance of being dropped as Gawn.
  22. Good, honest player; very happy with his development. Bit of James McDonald about him imho.
  23. Freeman - gee, that's a blast from the past! I was very keen on him over Salem in their draft year. Good to hear he's able to play VFL football after all his injury issues.
  24. Due to our 6-0 start, most mock teams with be biased toward us and the Bulldogs. With that said, the following Demons would be safely in the squad: May (though last years omission gave me pause for thought) Lever Salem Langdon Oliver Petracca Gawn From that list, Petracca and Gawn's high profiles, coupled with stellar form, would put them safely in the team. They're both now at a standard and reputation that they're pencilled in before the season even starts. The next rung would be Oliver, Lever and May. All three have high profiles, have been promoted by the media and, in the case of Oliver and Lever, have made the squad/team before. You're then left with Salem and Langdon, who are currently playing at AA standard, but don't have the media attention at this stage or a run of consecutive years where they are in All Australian contention.
