  1. He was very good last year.
  2. It's showing that other people's self-esteem is high enough that they don't need a the boost from anonymous posters on a fan forum. You don't think he's a forward. Great. Others disagree. Great. No one needs to admit to being right or wrong at this very, very early stage of his career.
  3. And a 2 time Brownlow medalist as well!
  4. Easily the best since ‘94 IMHO. If anything, he’s so consistently good, he’s underrated.
  5. Always has moved beautifully. Seems to be a player who needs to believe he belongs at AFL level. Some take longer than others - hopefully soon!

Going against the grain again, but I find the club and many supporters stubborn fixation the the MCG precinct to be counterproductive. West Coast, Fremantle, Brisbane, Hawthorn, Collingwood, Essendon, have all moved away from their heartlands in order to give their clubs room to grow. We don’t even have a place at traditional home and we still refuse to move. Any available land that we can secure in Richmond, Jolimont, etc. will be very small, with next to no room for expansion. I’m genuinely concerned that, by the time we have it built, we’ll be looking for a bigger base again in 20 years. Demographically speaking, the number of Melbourne supporters who have any recollection of the MCG being our base is slipping into a minority. It doesn’t hold the nostalgia to young people that it does for those who saw our last premiership. When you see the space West Coast have and Hawthorn are planning to build, it paints a scary picture of future inequality. The longer we leave the acquisition of significant land, the worse things will be for us.
  7. Earl Spalding played both ends.
  8. Billy Stretch was excellent too.
  9. For me, it's weirdly more to do with sponsors. If I see the TOOHEYS or LG logo, I feel happy. If I see a KASPERSKY or WEBJET I feel sad. With that said, I think both our current colour schemes look great, and I also quite linked the Blue guernsey, with the Red back.
  10. I'm all for Petty coming in form May, but I believe that many people may need to temper their expectations. He's being asked to step into a key defensive post after missing a lot of football. I feel that in his absence due to injury, his reputation has grown exponentially to an almost 'Joel Smith' level.
  11. Someone get in his ear and tell him to settle down a bit... can't go getting 20 kicks every week if he's gonna miss the first round.
  12. Agreed. The competition for Jetta’s spot is Lockhart and he’d be a couple of weeks off being able to apply any real selection pressure. That’s not to say that Hibberd is incapable of playing Jett’s position, but I’d say it’d be a role that we haven’t seen him play before.
  13. That was an excellent shepherd for Hunt and completely opened up the corridor form him. Mark Williams said he was very impressed by our young midfielders and the sacrificial role they play for team. If he keeps up those 1%ers, he’ll play more games than he misses.
  14. What you’re suggesting is closer to the Mark Neeld school of people management.
  15. I'm really not a fan of losing the traditional Thursday 6:30 time timeslot for team announcements.
  16. The council's response: https://www.yarracity.vic.gov.au/news/2021/03/29/proposed-new-policy-for-sporting-facilities-promotes-inclusion-and-diversity
  17. Never mind! Found it this time. https://www.theaustralian.com.au/sport/afl/teams/richmond/dustin-martin-told-mark-robinson-at-age-17-i-was-born-to-play-afl/news-story/8c91fad879391b517aea2982f58a2ec0 “I reckon I was born to play AFL,” he said. Bit arrogant? “I don’t think I’m arrogant at all, like, it’s just something I want. I want to play AFL, that’s all I want to do. “I just want it so bad. I don’t care where I play, as a long as I get the opportunity.” He has spoken to 12 clubs, and not Melbourne, which doesn’t surprise him. He, like everyone, expects Tom Scully and Jack Trengove to go No.1 and No.2. He has met Richmond twice, before and during the draft camp. “I think they’re pretty keen,” he said. “No one has said they’ll take me yet. If it’s Richmond, it will be awesome, over the moon.” If it is Richmond, the expectations on him - as they are on Trent Cotchin - will be, well, Richmond-like: Please, please, deliver.
  18. Not to step into the middle of this, but just wondering where the story of never interviewing Martin got started. I went looking for an article on it a couple years ago, but found nothing... Is it an established fact or is it footy folklore/urban legend?
  19. Would be very happy to see a Woewodin running around in the red and blue. With all the Pickett/Farmer/Davey/Rioli comparisons kicking around, I have been thinking how much Rivers off half back reminds me of a young Shane Woewodin. Genuinely good and unfairly maligned player.
  20. This is completely contrary to current advice on the issue. Talk to someone. Anyone. If you’re the ‘mate’; listen. Offer to help them find a professional. Dont judge. Be there for them.
  21. So another week and you still haven’t learnt to write off immensely talented 19 year olds..?
  22. Adelaide and Sydney has been a good match. Have really enjoyed the style of football this season.
  23. 12s usually the magic number. We've already beaten Fremantle, so if we now beat the same teams that we beat last year, then that’s 12 wins and in the 8!
  24. Would have played more matches than most during that period.
  25. Genuinely shocked that he got the three weeks. Personally, I think three weeks is a bit much, but I also believe that it would be given to any other player in the league if they did the same thing. Shocked the ‘good bloke’ loophole didn’t work this time.
