  1. Unbelievably talented but, sadly, undeniably lazy on the field. Hope he can turn it around, but he has so far wasted his opportunities.
  2. It took Jack Viney 39 matches over three seasons to notch up 7 wins. Timing is everything!
  3. Fair call - thanks for giving it a go.
  4. Episode 2: Melbourne V StKilda is now available. Listen on Spotify, Apple Podcasts or www.buzzsprout.com/1895332
  5. It’s completely subjective - many players peak at 19, others aren’t even considered by recruiters until they’re 22. Its seemed over the years, the general consensus is 26 - 29 is the sweet spot for age, strength, durability and experience. Looking at recent Brownlow winners, though an imperfect metric, gives us some idea… Dangerfield 26yo Martin 26yo Mitchell 25yo Fyfe 27yo Neale 27yo Wines 26yo
  6. Hello everyone! I hope it’s alright by the mods that I use a thread to promote my new Melbourne Football Club Podcast. In the spirit of the many ‘TV re-watch podcasts’, my friends and I have started re-watching all the 2021 Melbourne matches and reviewing them in the context of the season as a whole. We’ve just released Episode 1: Melbourne v Fremantle at the MCG, where we reminisce about the lead-up to 2021, the match itself, review the votes and debate our favorite Demons to wear the Number 1 guernsey. Listeners are welcome to watch the whole match, highlights or simply rely on their memory of each of our games this year. Hopefully a little bit informative… Hopefully a little bit funny… Please follow us on Instagram @ deewatch_podcast Thanks!
  7. And the Northern Territory - when they’re released from WA, they need to go there to face the music all over again.
  8. Mitchell is attempting to do what Clarkson did when he took over; trading senior players for high picks. Problem is that, unlike last time, the market values early picks a lot higher than it did 04 and 05. There's either a lot of Clarkson or a lot of Neeld about what he's doing...
  9. It’s a cult; you’ll never convince any of them.

I think he’s got massive upside and would gladly bring him in. He’s a quick, agile, mercurial forward and doesn’t compare to Chandler. If anything, Chandler is being kept out of the team by ANB and Spargo. Hill is more akin to Pickett, and two such players in the team allows them to hunt further up the ground and rotate through the midfield. By the time it comes up, our first pick would be around 20, which wouldn’t be too far off the mark for him.
  11. We had a blessed run with injuries this year, yet AVB and Jones still got games- I’d rate Dunstan as at least their equal. Even as a ‘depth’ player he’d make our list better. No brainer.
  12. I'm shocked that the Saints would be moving him on; seems to blitz it for them every time I tune in. I have heard their supporters being highly critical of his disposal, but would seem to be a decent fit for a developing team like the Kangaroos or GCS. If he was interested coming to us, I don't see him in the best 22, but he would be a decent upgrade on our 2021 midfield depth (AVB and Jones). This'll be important if our current blessed run with injuries doesn't last forever...
  13. We're going to get A LOT more free kicks!
  14. Even if we had access to him within the top 20, he'd wipe out an entire draft's worth of picks just to get up the points to select him in the top 10. Hopefully a big slider on draft night.
  15. I find this one to be strange. The club clearly has a better idea of what’s going on than I do, but I would have thought both AVB and Lockhart were both closer to senior selection than Brown. Lockhart especially as small defenders is not an area of great depth for us. He must be an excellent trainer and presence around the club, but I would have hoped we’d be looking to bring in a young KPF at the draft and have B Brown, McDonald and Weideman, along with Fritsch and Jackson as our primary KPF stocks. Good luck to him!

With that said... the players, particularly Lever and the defensive team, gave glowing endorsements of training at Casey Fields due to Covid restrictions. Training on a full (MCG) size oval gave them the chance to better rehearse their defensive set-ups which strangled most teams this year.
  17. As far as I could see, the last team to do it was Adelaide winning in 1997, after missing the 8 in ‘96 and ‘95. However, they didn’t have the dominant season that we have had.
  18. Surprised by Lockhart and Vanders being cut tbh; especially Lockhart as his role is not an area of particular depth on our list. I wonder if there’s a chance or a rookie spot if there’s no DFA takers..?
  19. Hopefully the Demonshop restocks soon or at least takes orders on sold-out items. I'm not really into the memorabilia, but will happily drop $$$$ if it goes to the club.
  20. I had that top right one in a poster on my wall... could never really figure out what kind of kick it was.
  21. The standards of betting ads did improve a little about ten years ago, but they have completely dropped again. They are flat-out predatory now and, once again, the line between match analysis and promotion of gambling is so blurred, it’s almost non-existent.
  22. I believe we 'helped' Port Adelaide in 2018 with Jack Watts' salary.
  23. Correct me if I’m wrong… but I thought once the National Draft is done, Father/Son counts for nothing and those players go into the general pool. He could then be picked by any club in the Rookie Draft and we can’t match the bid.
