  1. Yeah- they wanted them all gone. Displaced, killed off, bred out, denied their lands, culture and language. It was attempted genocide.
  2. I see this one wheeled out a bit and it's simply not true; both were absolutely abhorrent to indigenous people. It's hardly reassuring to say lucky you got British genocide, cos French genocide was much worse!
  3. I think every club has the responsibility to Paddy to not call him. He may not realise or believe it, but he needs to move on.
  4. Not really an positive spin I can find for our first two choice KPFs missing a big chunk of preseason and the season proper. Weideman was very impressive in 2020 and was statistically on par with his KPF peers. McDonald said he wanted the opportunity to prove himself... well, here it is! Hopefully, with a full preseason and a lighter frame, McDonald can be released to play a more ranging, traditional CHF role. His tank was his best asset prior to the toe and ankle issues and the role of the hulking, inside 50, power forward didn't work for him in 2019/20. I don't love the idea of Jackson and Fritsch being inside 50 targets, but hopefully this can bring about a change in forward 50 entries (which was hopefully being worked on anyway). I currently don't have Petty in my best 22 ahead of a more versatile Tomlinson, but he may be worth a look and will be interesting to see where he trains/plays for the remainder of the preseason.
  5. The stream last year against Nth Melbourne was great- hopefully they can arrange it again.
  6. Exactly why every list need depth.
  7. “This is a historic and proud day for the Melbourne Football Club!”
  8. I feel the same way about lots of our young players. We, along with them, missed out on a lot with the VFL being canned last year. Hopefully we can get to know them and they can get some quality development this year. ?
  9. Whilst I agree that the opening game of every season being Richmond vs Carlton is absurd, I also think it’s equally ridiculous that Carlton want still want this fixture. So much pressure and spotlight on a young team that, every year for some time, gets smashed by the Tigers. All their positive media and membership promotions go out the window by quarter time round one.
  10. Thanks for the reports! Was Petty training with the forwards or backs?
  11. Training Report! Thank you! Very happy to hear that TMac is training with the defenders. There’s a sport there for the taking if he’s up to it.
  12. I feel your pain, but I think you’ve summed it up in the second paragraph; we never knew how good we’ve had it. Was always a highlight to turn up to work on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday and find 6 pages of demonland training reports waiting for me at my desk. Most footy fans probably haven’t noticed much of a change though. Hopefully preseason 2021-22 will see a return of our track-watchers.
  13. The screenshots have been going around for about two weeks and Hawthorn has launched and "investigation" rather than dismissing it - plenty of smoke.
  14. It would seem that the many people praising Hawthorn for the bargain trades of Scully and Patton may have been a long way off the mark. Two very underwhelming footballers. As for Patton, if the screenshots are genuine, he's a ____________.
  15. Think you may have quoted the wrong post...
  16. Do you really think they’re not training..? I honestly can’t tell if this is some sort of higher-plane sarcasm or not.
  17. We've finished 9th 2 out of the last 4 seasons; we know better than anyone they're all must win games!
  18. Worth a look..?
  19. Something a big personality like Williams does is he takes a lot of heat and media attention off players and coaches. The media love him and he’s happy to give the big, flamboyant interviews. Why interview Goodwin, when you can get great quotes and soundbites from Chico..? It’s similar to when Roos was at the helm. We got a very easy run with the media because Roos was held in such high regard.
  20. This is a very, very good get by the club. Well done Pert and co.
  21. I see Sparrow, Lockhart, Jackson, Pickett and Rivers playing plenty of senior football this year. Injuries and some veterans slowing down will allow plenty of opportunities.

It is weird, given who his father is, that it hasn't generated any press. Even if he's not AFL standard, you'd think there'd be an article on Fremantle and MFC 'rejecting' the son of a former champ. Perhaps there's a bit of Jake Lovett about this one; people really wanting/wishing a son of a gun to be better than he is. I do love the romance of the Father/Son rule and it would be great to see Viney, Woewodin, Farmer and White don the red and blue together again one day!
  23. Darren Burgess is such a huge asset to the club - I get Hogan/Scully level stress about him leaving. Welcome to the MFC Selwyn!
  24. David Neitz was not awarded an All Australian as a backman and a forward. Jordan Gysberts had all the makings of an excellent player and should have been retained. Never warmed to Jesse Hogan. Jeff Farmer was/is a highly overrated player (still love him though). Trading pick 2 in 2013 was the right thing to do. I love Alistair Nicholson.
  25. Would rather see Rivers move up the ground and Salem stay put.
