The reason I am most happy about the no third man up rule is that it allows a different skill set to flourish. The game has been increasingly dominated by the 6'2" running midfielder. Hopefully now we can go back where two very tall unco blokes battle it out to see who can get it down to their more talented teammates. For the same reason i like seeing Caleb Daniel succeed. Footy should be a game for everyone.

I, for one, and very pleased about this new rule, to be implemented in 2017. To me, the pure ruck contest between two, opposing ruckmen, is an iconic part of the game. To me, the third man up ruins the spectacle, and tends to negate the effect of the pure duel. The third man up is also a recipe for unwarranted injury. So, I'm happy to see it brought in. Think it will only reduce other teams' efforts to negate big Max's dominance.

And if we could somehow get back to those one-on-one CHF V CHB, Carey V Jakovich or Wing V Wing, Flower V Greig match ups that would be a very good thing

Great news. Max was robbed because of the 3rd man rule. Max is drinking French champagne and smoking a Cuban right now.(Cigar that is).

Not gonna make a difference to the congestion. Mostly the 3rd man up tried to tap down to someone which is what the ruck does anyway. It will just allow one of the key positions in football to have a 1v1 battle. Which is great. this is huge for us. We have the best tap ruck in the game, who would no doubt have been attacked next year by the 3rd man all season. So Maxy to dominate, and JV to be all Australian

No third man up !! This is one of the the few rule changes in recent history that actually appears considered, useful and will improve the game. FMD . It's taken a while.

Yeah nah. You're the one who went off a bit early by stating that Max was not consulted. Do you think that with Max bugging Jason Taylor about Flippers was all one way conversation? Taylor would have obviously asked Max for extra details. That's called consultative communication.
