  1. Will he still host Dancing With The Stars?

  2. Hey, I was calling for Dean Bailey's head at half time of Round 1, 2008. Is there some sort of commemorative Demonland stick pin for this?

  3. Barret gave us a "D+" for our trade period. [censored]! Kept saying we gave away pick 2 for Tyson - I don't think he knows it was a bit more complicated then that. The other guy gives Sydney a "D" and Barret says "I think that's a little harsh..... they landed Buddy" Wearing glasses doesn't make you smart Barret!

  4. Maybe if you did your research you will find out Bernie Vince and Viv Michie are on holidays, Daniel Cross is not even a Melbourne player yet. Leaving Tyson who is in Melbourne. Seriously Far more important things to worry about then Players not in their Polo tops.. FMD..

  6. No, no we shouldn't. At 9 we're in a position to pick up a very good mid.

  7. What I think is interesting is that we didn't trade anyone out and not only that but there was little if any talk in the media about any of our players being traded out. It could have been because they just were not rated or it could have been a philosophy. I think it's the second. I think Roos recognizes the need to restore confidence and if he had traded players out this could send an unwanted message to the playing group but more importantly he recognizes that the previous FD were so inept that he can't really make a fair judgement on the marginal players like Tapscott, Blease or Strauss. This contrasts so much with last year. I wonder which will produce better results?

  8. Barrett thinks it's a D and I think it's an A+. Who give a flying F. All that matters is what happens on field next year.

  9. Started playing both codes (Soccer & Footy) as a kid after immigrating from Ireland not much of a change from GAA, played juniors in Perth playing at Subiaco's development squads and colts. At 17 was forced to make a very tough choice between the two codes. Fathers influence saw me choose the round ball game and headed to Europe and played over there for 4 years before starting an apprenticeship late and playing in local leagues. Returned to Perth with my wife in 1996 shiftwork played havoc with team sport and played amatuers before doing a knee, which resulted in me taking up triathlons as part of the strengthening process. Ended up getting involved off field and just do non impact sport myself, the body is shot. Have to say love watching young kids playing now and watch WAFL, local development squads, PSA (Private School footy) colts and anything I can. Great following kids from a young age and watching the progression you are always surprised with who ends up making it and 90% of the time it's not the kid you think it will be. I do often think back to what would have happened had I made a different choice back when I was young but that is life, would not have met my wife and had two wonderful boys had I made that choice.

  10. We got two experienced, proven AFL quality midfielders, two young midfielders of an age where they are ready to hit their straps, and we remained in the top 10 of the draft, in a draft where there should definitely be A grade mids available at our pick. I literally cannot think of anything else we needed to get out of this trade period.

  11. It's funny you say that, because if you actually study it, some of our digital media is up there with the best in the AFL. I wouldn't expect you to recognise that, though.

  17. Not that I expect Daniel Cross would ever read this forum, but if he did, I wonder what would go through his mind if he clicked on a thread welcoming him, only to find a bunch of over 40s (apologies to Hazy) trying to outdo each other over a massive pissing contest. Comical.

  18. That's a good list but that's not where value with PSD 2 is going to come from. Those delisted players can be picked up by anyone as delisted FA. The value comes in convincing someone who's required but still out of contract to come to us in that draft.

  20. This bloke has received quite an amount of unreasonable stick on this forum. In the games I saw him play he demonstrated what hard work and hard running means. He would go after a kick, he would chase and tackle hard. He is the sort of player JW should watch carefully. He obviously has a brain and is a leader. I reckon he is a great aquisition to the MFC and it is unfortunate he has suffered a run of injuries. Among the first handfull picked when fit. I hope he gets over his injuries quickly.

  23. Peter Ryan is a good honest bloke. He'll say it how he sees it, unlike Barrett who plays the game of tapping into the psyche of the supporter base (inferiority complex in our case) and exploiting it (when it suits him, not when it's North). But beyond all that, does anyone really think Barrett actually knows anything about football? He's essentially the New Idea of footy media - only interested in spouting gossip about all manner of backroom dealings. He knows not a thing about the game itself.

  24. That's partly true, I don't really think it matters whether Hawthorn or North win the flag on the back of a McEvoy or Dal Santo NSM. The Saints list was going off a cliff, I think Pelchen has at least reduced the gradient. Bolstered the backline with Bruce and Delaney (as Machsy points out) Didn't necessarily lose anything in the ruck long-term with McEvoy for Longer and good picks. Their midfield is still better than ours with Montagna, Stevens, Hayes, Armitage, Ray and they've added some garnish with Savage They really need Stanley to come on behind Riewoldt. They've got picks 3, 18, 19 in a midfielders draft and that's where they need to make hay. There's obviously a harmony question with the coach but that's a separate issue from list management unless everyone decides they want out like they did at Brisbane.

  26. Everyone here got sucked in by Pedo as he had some really good VFL performances for the Roos twos where he actually played like a man. It made sense that he wasn't getting a game being about 4th of 5th in line in there talls. Then, watching his 2 minutes of highlights he looked pretty damaging in his couple games.... what wasn't to like?? And then we saw the real man, squibbing contests, ducking his head, lifting his elbow when he was a meter passed a player. Maybe we could off load him again for pick 88 noting he played some great games for Casey this year and would have another solid 1 minute of highlights to add to his 2 mins from the Roos. I remember one contested grab against the power and the running, couple bounces goal against GWS that all looked pretty flashy.

  28. Give it time. Right now, Cross is an outsider and therefore not to be trusted. It takes time for Satyr's worshipping complex to take hold. Once players and officials have been at the club long enough, they can literally do no wrong.Three important rules to remember: 1. All Melbourne coaches and admin are never to be questioned. They are gods. 2. All Melbourne players should never be scrutinised. They are gods. 3. All fans on demonland, bigfooty, pretty much anywhere online, are clueless scum and not to be trusted. Treat them with utmost contempt at all times. I'm actually glad Satyr doesn't like the Cross recruitment. Based on his posting history, it means we're onto a good thing.

  30. Fickle bunch we are. Dawes plays a good game "Make Dawes captain" "Worth every cent" "Collingwood should never have let him go" Dawes has a delayed start to pre-season "Dawes can't get on the park" "What a waste of a trade" "Did Collingwood get Grundy with our pick OMG" The article says he'll resume training before Christmas. Months and months before Round 1 is even in the picture. Take a chill pill. He may have only played 12 games this year but (to me at least) it's hardly wrist-slitting time.

  33. Hm, I guess it depends on your definition of "early". David King, early? Expressing doubts is different from categorically saying he is not the man for the job. I know GNF was strongly anti-Neeld but not sure how early. Myself and stuie were anti-Neeld but not until the beginning of the year, and even at that stage we were outnumbered in most Neeld discussions. To be honest, I'm not sure if calling out a coach a few months into his tenure is ever a wise thing to do, irrespective of how it panned out. Coaches need to be given a decent chance to instill their game plan and ethos. Benefit of the doubt, as it were. Neeld's grace period inevitably expired.

  35. My completely uneducated leap to rash conclusions based on some sound analysis from good judges: 5. Gold Coast: KK - Scott Clayton special and they need someone like him off HB. 6. Collingwood: Freeman - to replace Swan and fair chance they'll get Bontempelli at 10 too, only Brisbane and us between them. On that basis only 3 of your 4 - Aish, Scharenberg, Kelly and Billings - fit in picks 2-4, one of them at 7 to Brisbane? Might have another look at that Lennon footage ...

  36. Mike Sheahan, Martin Flanagan, Emma Quayle. Three names that spring to mind. They all have one thing in common and interestingly enough they are three of the most insightful, thoughtful journalists.

  37. Then there is Tony Shaw...Honestly, I think it is a terrible debater that attacks ones right to debate, not on what they are saying. Mark Robinson and his cohorts are not terrible journalists because they have not picked up a football, they are terrible because they rarely put it down and picked up a dictionary, thesaurus, or read anything other than the sports section of the newspaper.

  46. Barrat is one of the leaders of a pack of hacks who report on the AFL. They are a rabid bunch of self serving [censored] who each have there own barrow and agenda they push. They should be embarrassed to call themselves journalists. At times they get confused that they are not there to create the news but to report on it. Watching Robbo and Gerrard become the Essendon mouth peice all winter was an absolute disgrace. They obviously allowed themselves to be used to push Hird and Co's agenda and leaked information. It got to the point where I was no longer able to watch it. They miss great positive stories like Evans getting back to play after all his injuries and instead focus from week 1 on which coach is likely to get the boot. It is immoral and wrong that they contribute and even worse take delight in the demise of a persons job and livelyhood. The pressure on coaches is driven to a large degree by the media's desire for blood. How about analysis and discussion on why Melbourne is where it is rather than the the mounting pressure the can place on Neeld. Most don't do the work and don't know know the players or the teams. eg Brereton this year - "not sure why Gawn has not got more games?" Knee reconstructions moron!!! A couple of hours research is not too much to ask. I also have a pet hate - how is it journalism to pick some slightly overexposed video clips and set it to music??? There is plenty of drama in the game without these numbskulls trying to add to it in the editing room.
