  1. Trying to make the best of a bad situation, bring on Magner if Clark can be put on the long term list.

  4. I was in favour of shedding Moloney, but it was mainly due to how he played under Neeld. Yes, he's a flat track bully, yes he's no star, but he was a strong bodied clearance player that wasn't managed properly. He may have had one trick, but it was better than most of our mids who have no tricks. Neeld shoved Moloney out the door. It started when he convinced Moloney that due to the umpire balling up at stoppages in 4 seconds and not the 11 it previously took that he couldn't set up in time. Neeld enunciated this to supporters at a meet and greet day at AAMI. And clearly he ruined his 2012 with such negativity. Put simply, it's the coaches job to get the best out of each player. It's the coaches job to not only notice a player's weakness, but to learn how to best facilitate their strengths. Playing Moloney at Casey for 5 or 6 weeks is hardly what I call good management. And this was on the back of trying to turn him into a defensive half-forward. He was never going to play well in that role. And for posters on here to insinuate that Moloney was a poor leader and even toxic around the club is amateurish self-serving guesswork to support a weak position. If you're outside the club how would you know ? I looked at the players after the match, such as Davey, Grimes and Jones pay him warm respect. He wouldn't have got into the leadership group in the first place if he was a terrible teammate. He took it upon himself to conduct preseason boxing clinics for the young players at Warrnambool for many years. But it's far too easy to pot him now, isn't it ? He wasn't perfect, but he'd be our second best mid and make life far easier for Jones and others if he was still around. And what about Neeld's spin about him leaving ? At least acknowledge you didn't have him in your plans and not the crap you dished up in the post match interview. I said last week that Neeld has fractured the playing group and it's patently obvious he has. They don't play for him. They don't put in an effort as a collective for him. They don't run, chase, contest, or harass. They don't do the fundamentals. Players even constantly talk of "buying in". Yet I'm asked by luminaries on here, "why do you think that" ? How could you not ? After 27 games I've never seen worse buy in, or a more dispirited group. A poster on another site put it best when he said "They might play for Neeld intellectually (there's a scary thought) but they don't play for him emotionally." I couldn't have put it better. We've won 2 quarters out of 20 and even GWS have won 5. For all our top 20 picks over the last 5 years we have the worst list in the league. It's mind-boggling what has happened to this club. I still believe that there's a core there that can turn the club around, but it will take "buy in" from the entire playing group and a proven coach.

  5. These discussions alone are enough to suggest that our club is falling apart, supporters are frustrated and we are not performing to an acceptable level. Say what you like, but many of us die hard fans have lost a lot of our love for this club since Neeld has come on board. I can only imagine how the players feel. Speak to the right people and you'll find out that many of our players, our better players, are as frustrated as us supporters and want out. Something has to give. Coaches are not bigger than our club and our club is bleeding. Keep him for the next 10 games or the rest of the season, it makes no difference, but come the end of the year, we need drastic changes. Again. I wish I knew how to fix our club, but I don't. But I do know that it's easier to change the coach than throw out an entire list of players, some of which are actually pretty good or at least has the potential to be. Our club is on a fast track to death. We need to change many things and we need to do it before it's too late, because the one thing we can all agree on, is that none of us want to see this club disappear into oblivion.

  6. Yep Magner will be upgraded so Neeld can play him in his natural defensive forward position

  7. I am hoping this means Watts gets a chance to cement a spot up forward. Also it should give a chance to include some midfield grunt in Magner if the club decides that Clark will certainly play no football over the next 8 weeks.

  8. I think Jack Grimes has been very good this year. As for Trenners, i believe the captaincy may have weighed him down a bit, but not nearly as much as missing the bulk of the last two preseasons.

  11. Some more positives: Silvia has really stepped up and playing consistant footy and I was really happy to see Davey get into a bit of a tussle and stand up for a team mate.

  12. Frawley is infinitely more important to this club than Neeld.

  13. Wines is not a ready replacement for Moloney. Moloney could have still be with MFC and we possibly could have been a chance to win. I said last year in August that there was no evidence that this guy could coach. He needed results in 2013. All we have got is ample evidence that this guy can't coach. The rift starts and ends with the Coach. He should be shown the door urgently. He has done untold damage to this Club. The first job of Jackson is to cut him loose and work on retaining the many players that we need to retain that Neeld has lost ( eg Frawley)

  14. BREAKING NEWS Mitch is fine. His injury is not as bad as first thought but he is a bit shorter looks younger has had his tatts removed and for some reason his team mates have nicknamed him 'Jesse' he will line up at full forward this week.

  16. Essendon was a line in the sand game. The playing group made a pact that they would never play so badly (as they did against PA) again. No more line in the sand games please. Just a little effort and professionalism.

  18. For those talking about magner on the rookie list I believe Evans and nicho were both guaranteed spots on our senior list and it was out of neeld's hands. I don't see how rivers leaving is neeld's fault. A superb club offers rivers a chance and he took it.

  19. If I were a mod, I'd take this post, start a new thread with this as the OP, then lock it and stick it to the top of the Board. Could not agree more. Especially the final paragraph.

  20. Absolutely ridiculous post from start to finish. The extent to which he "potted" Neeld was answer a question on whether he thought he would be coaching in 2014, and questioned if the players were playing for him. He never took any shots at him or even his coaching ability directly. It was more a comment about the current situation not being sustainable for too much longer.

  21. Umjmm maybe because he was one of the best CHF;s in the history of the club, and in 1994 was as good as Carey He kind of knows what to takes to play in the forward line, and on top of that he is a great leader and would be a great teacher for the players Cant believe I needed to explain that to you champ

  25. In a situation like this... only Nicolas Cage can describe my emotional rollercoaster Reaction to Clark being out for 10 weeks: Reaction to him being put onto the LTL and a rookie being elevated: Thinking of Magner or Couch: Possibility might have a better midfeild and Clark still being able to get a few games at the end of the season/full preseason: Get better soon Mitch!

  31. Honestly, David Schwartz's wife would probably be a better coach than him, anyway. What a trooper she must be, hauling him up out of a hole like that.

  32. Someone who bleeds red and blue does not pot the coach in public like that. Most unhelpful.

  33. Watched the replay Jack Watts is marked so harshly by the people on here, including me. First quarter he stands in the hole and shows great courage to take the mark and get absolutely crunched. He got no credit for it from anyone on this forum, yet it was gutsy and courageous as hell. He was also chasing multiple opponents numerous times, not his fault, where were his teammates? No wonder he could barely run, he looked stuffed. Went forward in the 3rd and took some nice grabs and kicked 2 goals and looked at home, I wonder why? Because thats his natural position. Neeld is an idiot for ever moving him back. no way should he be dropped, there was at least 11 or 12 worse players than him yesterday. Play him forward from now on Neeld you moron

  34. Moloney had his usual 30 plus possessions against a weak midfield. Yet another display from the biggest downhill skier in the league. He needed to go. Correct decision.

  35. Fitzy form is much better than Sellars. Id love to see Fitzy and Dawes in that forward line with Watts and Howe. Magner to clear the ball and Kent to boot it long in there , with Gawny resting inside 50 as well.

  36. The MFC website hinted at this after last weekends match. Dissapointed but not surprised. Magner is surely a must to come off the rookie list now ?! But nothing wld surprise me at the MFC. Probably leave him there for the rest of the year. I just hope they bring Gillies, Sellar and Joel back in real soon. I'm salivating at the prospect of having all 3 plus Pedo in the same team!

  37. I would be happy to see Schwarz come in as a motivational "speaker" to get the players revved up on game day as I think that is probably what he would be best at doing. He speaks very well, but nothing I have seen or heard from him can convince me he would be useful in an administrative/board position or that he would be successful as a coach. He even admitted himself in that talk, that his wife was really the one responsible for getting his life back in order and for managing the whole process. There is no doubting the fact that he is an inspirational human being, but if I were him, I think I would not be throwing away my career in the media to become involved at the MFC full time.

  38. Mate you have a problem with the Ox - good for you, thanks for sharing. I'll refer you to post 45 - i don't care if he contributes or not I personally think he is an inspriation though - guess you need to know what hard times are to understand how hard it can be

  39. If it was a choice I'd go with Frawley - at least he's already shown he can play, Neeld has yet to show he can coach.

  40. Maybe he did it BECAUSE he bleeds red and blue?

  41. I'm sorry... What creditials does the Ox bring to the MFC to show that he would be a good forward coach? TBH, I think we are better off staying with Leroy Brown. Silly claim if you ask me. Gippy

  42. It was an outstanding interview imo .... even better than his book, because the emotion was palpable. I loved the Ox as a player, I admire the way he has turned his life around post-football, and I love his honesty as a person. Well done David!

  43. When it turns it will turn quickly. Spoken to any Port fans lately? They're not talking about 2012. They're loving this game. Sydney got flogged by us and rebounded to win a premiership less than 50 games later. When Geelong found belief their rise was sudden. Even Melbourne in 2000 showed that a rapid rise is possible. The demographic of this team means that in 2 - 3 years we'll have the experience to be a contender. Whether we have the quality in the midfield is another matter. It's easy to spread the doom and the gloom. Finding light at the end of the tunnel takes far more vision. My vision involves us securing a topline midfielder like Thomas and drafting a ready made star like Selwood. Put Thomas and Selwood into our midfield and add another 2 - 3 seasons of experience to Viney and Toumpas as well as the addition of Jones plus Trengove, Grimes, Sylvia and Howe rotating through and we've got to be getting closer to having a top 4 midfield. As the Swans have shown, a competitive, disciplined, hard working midfield that follows September-driven structures with a couple of game changing forwards can win a flag. In Clark and Hogan I think we have the game turners to be a serious football side. My vision might be fanciful but I prefer it a hell of alot to the Fitzroy-esque devastation that most here seem to take joy in spewing forth. At the end of the day, I follow a footy team and following footy should be fun. I don't know how most of you guys continue to get to games and log in here when you're so devoid of hope. I don't have much hope left either but I'm hanging on to the romantic view that one day we might just get there and in the meantime I try to enjoy the journey and visualise how this crap that we're currently enduring may one day be remembered as the start of something special. Why else would you bother?

  44. Thats a cop out. They were 16th last year. MN got rid of 13 players and selected blokes that suited his "style". He would have been happy with his list pre round 1. I wonder if he still is now.
    3 points
  45. I don't want Neeld gone until the blokes responsible for choosing him and Bails are gone too. We'll just be on the bloody merry go round again.

  46. Of course it's a failure if there's an expectation that two first year players that are boys are all of a sudden going to dominate men. Wines is a good prospect that is made better by the class around him. Aside from N Jones what else is there in the midfield at MFC to support Viney/Toumpas. And FWiW there is no way they should have thrown Toumpas to the wolves in the first 3 rounds. Another case of player mismanagement at this Club.
