Red & Blue Army Walk to the MCG

Just thinking ahead - the MFC are promoting a "Red & Blue Army Walk to the MCG" from Federation Square to the MCG on June the 9th - before our clash against Collingfilth.

How many Red & Blue Army members (IE MFC members/supporters) are going to participate in this?

If we can't get crowds to the game, how are we going to get people to join in this? Going to look bloody ordinary if no-one turns up.

OK, now we are 7 days away from the 'Red & Blue ARmy' walk from Federation Sq to the MCG and our player ranks are suffering, I'll ask the question again,

Who is going to participate in the walk before the game against the filth next week?

I said this to my dad this morning, it's such a shame that this amazing milestone had to come in such a terrible year. Can you imagine what the response to our 150th birthday would be if we were having a year (or start) like 2005? The march would be massive. But no, it had to come during one of our worst on-field patches of all time, the footy gods sure know how to mess with us.

Still i'll be there to make up the numbers, and i'll drag a couple of my mates along.

Ill watch the 50 or so people walking.

I'm coming from Brisvegas for this and dragging my best mate with me. I'll be spewing if this walk doesn't get the support it deserves. We sit back and complain about how little the club does for us and then abandon them as soon as they find a creative and original way of uniting the supporter group. The apathy shown already on this thread confirms the perceptions of opposition supporters.

If this: http://sportal.com.au/AFL-news-display/kan...urnaround-49635 doesn't fire people up I not sure what will.

"the struggling Melbourne Football Club now appearing to have taken over the mantle as the league's most vulnerable club - something Demetriou himself recently admitted."

We condemn our team for their lack of heart and courage and fire. Well how about we start showing a little.

Fire up people. This is our Grand Final.

I want to be there, but my best friend is leaving the country for good that afternoon, so I'll be spending the morning with her.

I'll be at the game though.

I'll be there, even if i bring a few filth supporters.

What time do you have to me there?

Posted
I'll be there with mum, dad, sister and girlfriend.

I would not miss this for anything. Put money on the Dees to upset the Pies.

Hey Wreck I need clarification, is that 3 or 4 people accompanying you? :o

Hope for a fine day. If it's miserable weather, the turnout will be terrible.

I'm also not sure how convenient it is for people who drive to games and park at the 'G...although there's CBD parking near Fed Square, and towards the 'G, it is a reasonable walk and some won't be keen on it.

Hopefully some kids get excited about it, and it might be a good opportunity for some families to get to a game, as it won't clash with local sport.

Yeah, I agree.

It's also rather early - 11:30?!? Some people (ahem) aren't even up by then, let alone in the city ;)

Queen’s Birthday Blockbuster

Get ready for our biggest game of our 150th year – our annual Queen’s Birthday Blockbuster against Collingwood – this Monday at the MCG.

On the Monday morning before our Queen’s Birthday Blockbuster, we are calling on the entire Red and Blue Army to gather at Federation Square to celebrate our 150th Birthday at the Red and Blue Army Walk to the MCG.

At least 100 past players - including Robert Flower, Shane Woewodin, Brett Lovett, Andrew Leoncelli and Hassa Mann - will be joining supporters from all over the world for the walk, and the first 500 to show up wearing red and blue will receive a free breakfast.

The Red and Blue Army Walk to the MCG has been planned to provide all supporters with a chance to celebrate our 150th together.

The Walk to the MCG and Queen’s Birthday Blockbuster will be preceded by what looms as one of the biggest nights in our Club’s history, when our 150 Playing Heroes are announced in front of over 1,200 guests at Crown Palladium.

Is there a curtain raiser? Unless the walk takes 2 hours it's going to be a long wait for the past player parade at 1:45. I want to go but don't want to be sitting around bored for hours.

Nothing could keep me away!! Travelling with the family from Canberra.

You'd think if big Jimmy was serious about becoming prez, he'd start by making a good impression in joining to the walk to the G with the fans and members, get amongst the people and all that.

It'll be a great experience to march with some of the greats of the club, something i've looked forward to from the moment i heard about it.

the first 500 to arrive get a free breakfast at 9:30. I think i'll sleep in and aim to get there around 11. Count me in!

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
