JMac(?)

White(?)

Whelan(?)

Discharged

Warnock

Jamar(?)

CJ(?)

Bode(?)

Moloney(?*)

Moloney(?*)

The list has serious issues. Obviously not everyone listed above can be retired, discharged or traded.

Bailey needs time to change the culture of this place.

gesus mate , what the fock you got left after that, we have got to be rational

you probably wouldnt be ABLE to get rid of all even if you tried.. as probably a trade might not eventuate...e.g Miller debacle.etc. But Id defintiely put them all up on the block...one way or another.

Theres only a couple id like to keep...but as an exercise I'd do it.

Really...if you look at it there are very few currently on our list youd really keep under all conditions going forward

Again I remention we got rid of 25% last time..id do that again without blinking.

The time for ruthlessness was a few years back really...hell.. better late than never !!

To trade someone is difficult, firstly the player wants to go, secondly a club wants that player and thirdly the clubs have to come to terms. It is no point trading someone if yuu aren't going to get a pick that they are worth. Col Sylvia is a prime example assuming he wants to leave and a club wants him what would the club settle for IMO a top 25 pick would be required anything less and you may as well keep him he will be more worth to you than a late second/third round pick

A dose of reality from the Doctor.

At best we will get away 1 maybe 2 trades. From Judd Sucks list, Robbo (age/style) and Moloney (form/injury) is not going to get any real bites at the trade table.

We could retire/ delist about 10 without trades but it is likely to be around 8.

Judd sucks has the retirements about right. The delists would not include Moloney or Jamar (contracted to 2009) but will likely include Weetra.

I do see us in a rebuild so much as a transition. If you look beyond the short term frustration and challenge the players have in executing a new game style, I think there is a good nucleus for a better side supplemented with 2008 draft picks (would like 4 picks in the Top 20) and some judicial trades.

I agree.. thats why my list is long.. :))

But what you are decribing is the basic dynamics of football and theres nothing new here really..This is the climate that they work in, they know it.

We's probably get a highish round 2 pick for Slvia. Thats would satisfy you .

Conversely there is NO point hanging onto dud players... Sometimes you have to bite hte bullet and take a loss..Thas also reality.

What needs to happen!

Neitz Retire

Yze Retire/Sack

White Retire/Trade for mid - late draft pick

Green Trade/Sack for draft pick

Wheatley Trade/Sack for late draft pick

Sylvia Trade for early to mid draft pick

Warnock Trade/Sack for late draft pick

Robbo Trade/Sack for mid to late draft pick.

Think people are being a tad harsh on Jeff White!!! Perhaps we should have gotten rid of Jamar instead of Jolly (now a premiership player!!!)

Fair enough Sylvia is a dud and Warnock never kicked on.

Can take or leave the others, never been that impressed with Green, Bruce, Robbo. Would rather have Heath Scotland.

Why trade Dunn?

Its very early to tell and I feel he has something to offer. We have put 2-3 years into him, why let him go and fluorish at another club?

Irrational demon supporters at the moment.

Yes get rid of the dead wood, but I dont feel he is this.

Retire:

Neitz

White

Junior

Whelan

Holland

Yze

Delist:

Warnock

CJ

Wheatley

Trade:

One of Green/Bruce

Sylvia (If he doesn't lift this season)

If we do pick up a ruckman with a high-pick and Jamar is out of contract, add Jamar to the delist group.

I think a lot of people are being a bit hard on Wheatley too. With good players around hime and when he gets his body right, he can be very damaging for us.

Not that its too prevalent here but i'm sick of so many ppl talking about neita's time being up there are far far worse players in our team at the moment. Whilst he is likely to retire at the end of the year the constant talking about it implies he is part of the problem at melbourne when I suggest he is not. He is one of the few who are actually playing with any heart at all that pack mark he took last week shows how he puts his body on the line for the team. The way the delivery into our F50 is at the moment it would be hard for anyone up there to play well. And I think people seem to have unrealistic expectations of what he will deliver this year. obviously he won't be kicking bags at his age but he is still serviceable and deserves to play out the year without all this unfair criticism.

Spot on 'maccaz69', I totally agree. Yes we need a cleanout of the softwood varieties, but lets not chop down the only good examples of real leadership we have. Go Neita, Macca, Wheels, & trade the other mature manure.

TRADE

Green : For anything he is useless.

Miller: If anyone is stupid enough to.

Bruce? : His age is a problem is still a lot better than Green.

Sylvia? : He has to start performing.

Davey? : Could get the most value from him but he definately looks slower and more injury prone.

Carroll? : Too brain dead for AFL football I wouldn't be surprised to see him at Carlton next year.

RETIRE

Yze : Should have done it 3 years ago.

Holland : Should have retired last year.

Neitz? : A week to week propersition at this stage he should retire but hopefully he can improve he should not go out like this.

McDonald? : He should have 1 year left but it is time for him to spend more time on the pine.

Robertson? : He is as frustrating as hell but still the best forward we have, should still have a couple more years.

White? : I would like to see him work with Natanui for a few more years.

Whelan? : I'll wait to see how he plays after once he is back in the team.

Sack

P.Johnson? : Looks like Tarzan plays like Jane. Time to perform last week wasn't good enough.

C.Johnson? : Time to perform.

Moloney? : Probably has another year to perform but he has been a nightmare of a trade.

Weetra? : They should save themselves the hassle of sacking him at the end of next year by doing it this year. He will not make it.

Warnock : Definately gone now that he is in Sandy's 2's.

Wheatley? : Has been around long enough now for us to know that he adds nothing to the side.

Jamar : He is not improving we need to let him go.

Bode? : Same as Weetra.

Theres a rumour Chad Cournes wants to come to melbourne and Warnock is locked to that discussion. Me thinks a good swap but risky if Warnock comes good.

yeah definitley very risky. i mean occo, how could we forgive ourselves if we got chad cornes to the club and warnock 'came good'? all that potentail just wasting away at sandy. we really shouldn't risk this trade.

Warnock and about 5 others, Warnock is NOT up to it, will be delisted and no-one will pick him up

This thread has been a good laugh...

In almost every case people are calling to trade absolutely every one of our senior players. And these are the people who whinge week-in-week-out about our lack of on-field leadership.

If we had it the childish whiners' way, the entire list would be made up of players 23 and younger, with maybe one or two in their mid-to-late twenties. And the MAJORITY of the list would be between 18 and 21...

You think we went badly these last few weeks? We'll go even worse if we have it your way...

You lot have to grow up and realise that the club can only delist and replace so many players...

We had a list that was held together by duct tape at the end of Daniher's reign. Bailey came in and had at least 20 players that needed to go, or that were nearly gone because of age. What would you prefer he do? get rid of ALL of them, recruit maybe 10 players and have a list with 30 blokes plus a few rookies?

Grow up you lot. Stop your whinging. We are [censored]. Get over it.

Oh thank god for you Dan......

A slightly more common sense approach than the ever prevailing (albeit tempting) shoot everyone philosophy :P !!!

No-one is denying that some more massive list changes will be around the corner, but basically we here seem to be ditching everyone with over 100 games next to their names, and then we will all whinge that there is no experience out on the ground. I know that some of these players have been disappointing, we all live in the same world, but a little more rationality around here could well be in order, or we will be just an upscale kindergarten, with the losses to prove it.

Green is part of the cancer that's destroying this club, he may or may not be a good guy, who cares. He's one of the outside recievers that never gets physical. He has to go.

Deluded indeed. This misconception about Green absolutely astonishes me. He's laid 337 career tackles, but you're right... he NEVER gets physical!

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    WELCOME 2024 by Meggs

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol

    EPILOGUE by Whispering Jack

I sit huddled in near darkness, the only light coming through flickering embers in a damp fireplace, the room in total silence after the thunderstorm died. I wonder if they bothered to restart the game.  No point really. It was over before it started. The team’s five star generals in defence and midfield ruled out of the fray, a few others missing in action against superior enemy firepower and too few left to fly the flag for the field marshal defiantly leading his outnumbered army int
