Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

My daughter has her new jumper, got it yesterday, so will be sitting infront of TV deciding which player cared the most for his team, his jumper and his teammates and then getting that number put on my daughters jumper. They dont realise this, but one footballer is about to get their number on my daughters first Demon jumper... Now if thats not incentive to play your guts out, then i dont know what is

I love my club.. GO DEE'S!!!!

Have just returned to Vic after 6 1/2 years interstate and haven't been to skilled since around 2000, although I got here just in time for the first two games.....

What time do you good folks reckon I'd have to get to Kardinia Park to be assured of getting in? Are they showing their flag to their supporters resulting in larger crowd?

cheers in advance

This is the best post ever on Demonland.

Start a thread on this - it would be nice actually to have a debate on who the most deserving player is.

To keep it positive, just ask people to nominate a first and a second, with reasons. No insulting other's choices or paying out players, just the honest statements of respect.

Whoever can go into a game against these odds and still give it a red hot go, deserves the nod and every other accolade we can hand them.

I'm heading down to Geelong for the very first time ever.

A strange time to do it, I know.

I only have a general admin ticket - where do all the Melbourne people sit (all seven that is...)?

Ahh. I remember my first time to Kardinia. Early 80's on the train as a young fella. We won and gave grief to all the hapless cats fans all the way back to civilisation

Good question, any ideas anyone?

Sit. LOL. You are Kardinia virgins! Gen Admin is standing room. Get there early and you actually can get a reasonable forward flank position. Bring flags to show support.

All genuine supporters will be going to the game if they can get a seat. Some of the rest (genuine ones) will watch TV and the remainder(eg the rats who have left the sinking ship twice already )should find themselves another team or spend the day looking up the dictionary meaning of "support" and "fan".

I take issue with this comment. Melbourne supporters need to stick together at the moment not start calling eachother "rats".

Yes Melbourne supporters do need to stick together and "support " and not doing what quite a few of them have been doing over the past 2 weeks. Yes it is sad they are losing but you can't have it every which way. They (the rats) want the heads of established players and when they get their wish their young replacement counterparts cop an earful and then they want their heads too. On average it takes 4 years to get a player up to standard (there are exceptions) so be patient. You can't delist everyone It won't happen over night but it will happen.

I'll be sitting by myself in the South Terrace, wearing lots of Demons gear. I expect us to lose, but have faint hopes of a turn-around.

If you don't go to games like this, you'll NEVER see the great heroic victories. Those of us who followed the Demons around from 1965 to 1987 are quite accustomed to frustration and disappointment! But the bad times make the good times more memorable!

I was overseas with work when we lost to Fitzroy by(the still record margin) of 190 points(was it '78 or '79?) One of my mates I go to the footy with each week was there , and still rubbishes me for "abandoning the team when they were down". I wish I could say I saw that game. I won't miss this one!

I reckon it's a "no lose situation " for Demon supporters on Sunday. If we do lose by 100 points, no-one will be surprised. If we lose by 50, it'll be regarded as a good effort. If we win!!!!! The best train trip ever!!! The whole season turns around!!!

Those canny bookmakers are only quoting us at 15 to one! 15 to one shots do get up every now and then. If there was really no hope at all, we'd be 50 or 100 to one.

If ya get there early (by about 10.30am) you'll probably get a seat for general admission. There are about 2,000 free seats.

I'll be there early (around 8am at the ground), but unfortunately won't be in the stands until probably 1pm, so will certainly miss out on those seats.

If you do get there early, try not to abuse the umpires in the VFL game too much...

demonlanders -- first post -- pls cut me some slack. i've relocated after decades in melbourne & reckon i paid my dues w. the annual trek to KP (are we the only club that does it nigh on every year?) i remember missing one (had to work) &, listening on the radio, thinking jeff farmer was going to get us across the line (he didn't); sean charles doing similar & another, early season, when the wiz, wearing red boots & the number 8, almost did but, of course, we lost it in time on. remember, earlier, ablett kicking more goals than we did, though shaun smith did his best on a day when the rain was driving so hard that our heads were bent. (know that was '96 because we were listening to the opening ceremony of the atlanta games on the way down the highway). but all the fruitless trips to that hayseed hell became worth it when we won in -- was it 2005? i wanted to do star jumps on those miserable terraces but, by then, not having been able to convince others to give up their saturdays to be disappointed, i was by myself & just grinning like the idiot i am. our breakthrough win took a back seat in the press to the omigod hysteria about nathan ablett's first game. sorry, this is a rant, but, hell, as bad as things are & me being in WA, i really wish i was flying the flag at that horrible ground this weekend. Go dees!

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
