Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Garry Lyon is to blame!

He picked the woeful coach ahead of a legend in Sheedy. The players are not playing for him. Bailey refused to get rid of the [censored] in Yze, Green and Miller. He refused to pick up any kid with pace and traded Johnstone for the worst possible result a kid with a bad back. GARRY STAY THE [censored] AWAY FROM THE CLUB BEFORE YOU KILL IT.

Gardiner has had his time, he refuses to put the club first and we desperately need a president that does just that. Time to go Gardiner.

If Bailey wants any credibility he must drop Green and McLean.

McLean has to get his finger out of his ass and get superfit he can't shrug taggers and until he can he will always be a disappointment.

He better start getting rid of brain dead idiots like Carroll, Wheatley and Miller get Rivers back into the side and start developing Martin.

I agree with you on some points. Bad decision making BAD BAD decision making at the top of the club. However its not one person. I think we shouldve stuck with ND, it was not this bad under him. Travis Johnstone was a BAD BAD BAD decision, all the people that think it was good you are kidding yourselves cos ho-hum who was best on ground last night? Carroll played good for the first half, if we drop him we have no backline.

McLean was rubbish I agree but so was everyone. I would pass Jones, Davey & Carroll for today and that is it. The rest need were a disgrace. Worst game I have seen in 20 years.

More BAD decision making playing Bruce & Miller on the backline and Neitz at Centre Half Forward, he cant run Bailey!

Sack the coach, go on.

It is clearly his fault that of the 44 players he inherited, 42 are crap.

Give me a break, this is the downfall we had to have. We could have kept covering up the cracks for 2-3 years with Daniher, but then what? We NEVER would have won a flag, and we would have continued to be a mediocre side that achieves nothing more than one finals appearance each season.

Short term pain for long term gain.

And remember it isn't Craig Cameron's fault, he was rated 2nd best on some unofficial website or something so it can't be him.

Guys, everyone is to blame, we're a rabble atm in all departments.

Ummm... I'm going Jones and Morton.... too early? :)

I can't believe people are blaming the coach. We haven't been a decent side for over a year now. How come the new guy gets all the blame?

What about the people who were in charge for 10 years and gave us the list we have today?

Leigh Matthews couldn't get a win out of us at the moment.

I too would have loved to have seen Sheeds at the Club, but it wasn't to be! The best we can do now is all (players, admin, supporters and members) unite behind Bailey. The fact is, since 1980 we have had only 4 coaches (except for very small roles played by Riley and Hutchison). Barassi did 5 years, Northey 7, Balme 5 and Daniher 10. So by my reckoning, Bailey will be in the job for a few more years yet. I believe he has a three year contract which the club won't break-they can't afford to. Give him some time and lets see where we are by mid year. Improvement won't necessarily be measured by wins but I'm certain there will be some headway made.

How about we blame the players... I was at the game and it was a disgraceful effort. Here is a few of the issues I noticed:

- our players after half-time did not put any defensive pressure on when the Bulldogs were running the ball our of our forward line or through the middle... prior to half-time, we were okay in this area.

- our zone set-up for us kicking out has merit, because it works for other clubs... but it will not work unless people burst free from this zone, and sprint into open space that was created. There is no point having all this open space on the flanks if the players are just going to jog half-pace into it. SPRINT INTO IT... if you get a 5metre break on your opponent, the bloke kicking out should be able to hit you lace out... if not, then the wrong person is kicking out!

- on the two or three occasions we ran the ball up the middle today, we didn't look to bad at all... and hit Robertson and Neitz on the chest from these set-ups. Why do we revert to playing on the wings when going up the middle was a successful ploy? Okay, if it gets turned over whilst you have run it up the middle, you will get hurt more on the rebound... but that is a defensive mind-frame. Back yourself in... run it up the middle! It worked on most occasions that we did it today. One play stood out for me, Bruce got the ball (either from a mark or free-kick) and immediately looked to the wing for a target... and completely missed 3 blokes in the guts who had as much chance of winning the ball as the blokes on the wing did... bloody back your team-mates in!!!

I was so frustrated watching today... seriously!!! There was NO EFFORT after half-time, and it doesn't matter who is on your board, or who is in the coaching box, or who is taping the ankles in the room... IF THE PLAYERS DO NOT PUT IN EFFORT, YOU WILL NEVER WIN!!!

The players had a vote on travis johnstone and only one player voted for him to stay...they then in respect for TJ tried to get him to a victorian club and NOT ONE had ANY interest at all...there is something not right there

Garry Lyon isn't to blame. He's been trying to HELP the MFC!

The poor bloke is going to cop it big time on "The Footy Show" this week!

If anybody is to blame its the players! They don't LISTEN to what the coach tells them and have a very poor attitude!

They need to starting shaping up and WINNING some games!

Otherwise, there will be the AFL record for the most number of player delisted from a club (Melbourne) in a season, at the end of this year! <_<

He picked the woeful coach ahead of a legend in Sheedy.

As did most of the other panelists, it seems.

I also think that Bailey was a good choice, and Sheeds wrote a nice column the other day on how Bailey had what it takes to Coach.

If Bailey wants any credibility he must drop Green and McLean.

McLean has to get his finger out of his ass and get superfit he can't shrug taggers and until he can he will always be a disappointment.

Saying we should drop X, Y, and Z is fine, but you need to replace them with better players in order to get a better result. I'm sure Rivers will be back in the side when fit, and the Club are no doubt developing Martin (and the other 40-odd players on the list).

I agree with you on some points. Bad decision making BAD BAD decision making at the top of the club. However its not one person. I think we shouldve stuck with ND, it was not this bad under him. It was a good decision. I'm not kidding anyone.

If anybody is to blame its the players!

...and the guy that got them there / kept them there / coached them for x number of years.

Sack the coach, go on.

It is clearly his fault that of the 44 players he inherited, 42 are crap.

Give me a break [......]

No, give me a break. You're normally not prone to hyperbole, but that is ridiculous.

We still have problems with this..

It frustrated me then... and it still frustrates me now. We have improved, but we still have a long way to go. Against Sydney we did this perfectly... hopefully we can get it to happen 'perfectly' on a more consistant basis from 2011 onwards

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
