Maric, a small forward rated the most accurate kick going around by Champion Data, was looking forward to working with established goalsneak Aaron Davey.

“I’m hoping he moves up into the midfield and opens it up for me,” he said smiling.

i like this kid :D

jeez maric sounds he has that arrogence in him! its almost like he is saying "davey you phark off to the midfield this position is mine [censored]!

love him already!

yeh hopefully we think of a nickname for him quick smart because its not typically a name that runs of the tounge

yeah i want a really good nickname for him, but i also wouldnt mind a good one for pettard because that does not role off my toungue either

I don't think Aaron Davey has anything to worry about, unless double D can run a sub 10sec 100m....., but Robbo surely has.....

if you watch the AFL video of this kid he is a strong leading forward with really, really sticky hands. He kicks better than anyone else recorded by Champion data, and he keeps his feet in contests.

From limited footage I really like the look of Grimes.

And MacNamara reminds me of Sydney's Craig Bolton.

in the short term, Robbo only has to worry about his knees. he plays well above his height. knows where to run and is a reasonable shot on goal. he can do more than sit on peoples heads. his major flaw is what to do when Melbourne doesnt have the ball. defence starts at full forward. the changing of the guard is coming, but dont be too hasty

I think we have a beauty is Addam. Can also play midfield and is very good at it. The theory that he is a forward started approx 3 yrs ago when he was playing under 16 cannons, playing for Essendon Grammer and also player for Greenvale. As he was playing way too much footy, it was decided to play him forward especially for greenvale. 110 goals later in 11 games or so, a forward was born and coaches were reluctant to move a goalkicker away from goals.

Watched him in a semi final against Darcy Daniher's team 3yrs ago. He kicked 5 or 6 goals from a total of 8 (he team got thumped) from the midfield, including a torp that went 60. Great kid and good family.

As for nick names, we have always known him as 'Adds', although he was once called Gangully by an opposition cricket a few yrs ago...very funny. For the record, an awesome cricketer. Won our senoir b&f as a 14yr old, including 150 off 60 balls from a total on 180 for the team. He also scored another big innings of 230 odd not out one day.

Love him or hate him, Robbo's time is just about up. This year and ?

Not sure of contract details but I wouldn't re-sign him in a fit. Not sure why we kept him, I assume the Dogs lost interest. Been a 'great servant' and player of the club but unfortunately we have a tradition of hanging onto players because they're loyal and 'good for the team.' Whatever that means. Certainly not winning.

Robbo's not part of the future but that in no way diminishes his contribution to the MFC.

It's all about the jumper/guernsey, not the player.

Why was he called Ganguly? :o

For 13 years I have been waiting for a player to excite me and capture my imagination like the great Allen Jakovich did

I have a strange old feeling that Maric could be that player

Oh how I pray!

i made a nick name for him without realising it.

I was down in the rooms and I saw the first gamer (pettard) and started chatting to him, out of all the players that I spoke to I spoke to him for the longest and by the end he gave me his game day socks

Some might think that’s weird asking for sweaty old socks but I can use them when I train for club.

Then next game whenever he got the ball I found myself calling him socks!!!

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
