Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Rivers running ...

The number one reason we struggled this year.

The number 1 reason it won't be doom and gloom next year.

He is by daylight our most important player in my opinion.

It might take a year or two but Bate CHF and Rivers CHB could be a winning combination in a winning team.

What I particularly like about Rivers is his ability to lose his opponent, run forward and snag the unsuspected goal. Only happened a few times but I hope Bailey encourages something different and imbues the team with a bit of imagination.

Agree 100% - No Jared Rivers = A massive Hole in our team

Nobody rates The Dee's however consider the following:

Fully Fit :

Rivers, Bartram, Whelen, Moloney, Yze & a fully fit Brock, Sylvia , Robbo & Neita

Continued development of :

Jones, Frawley, Bell,Bate, Dunn, Newton

Hopefully some positve list changes in trade week, National Draft & PSD.

We have a huge upside that is slipping under the radar & Jared is our ace in the pack

Bring on the New DB era, lets not get angry, LETS GET EVEN IN 2008

He is one of, if not the best defender i have seen at this club in my 15 years of supporting us. He's miles ahead of anyone in the team in terms of reading the play and knows exactly when to leave his man, he is easy top 3 most important at least and i'd put him at the top. If we can get him, Bell, and Wrecka fit, it will go a long way to having a bit of backline stability.

Incorrect.

While Rivers was a big hole in defence, our number one problem week in week out was our inability to win the contested ball and the clearances from the midfield or at least stymy the opposition winning it.

A fit Rivers would not have corrected this fault. However as our most important defender he would have provided a good defensive and rebounding option.

IMO he is about No 3 on our list. A fit and firing McLean and Jones are my two most important players.

I have to agree, and isn't it just great that FINALLY, our 3 most important players happen to be young, mentally focused and most importantly, can be trusted to put in week in week out?

We've waited a long time for this, and as I've said for a while, when these boys (Bate, Bell, Dunn, Sylvia, etc etc...) become our core group of players and leaders, we'll finally see a real change in this club.

Thankfully we have a new coach who can see that, and who will hopefully devote most of his energy to developing these guys and getting as much experience into them as possible.

We have a very good, and balanced, group of under 23's. We have a range of smalls, talls, midfielders, defenders and forwards, which is something that not a lot of clubs have. We've done really well with the draft in the last few years, picking up great kids with early picks, and with picks as late as 60. If we manage to get another first round pick and draft well this year, there is no reason why we can't set up a team for 5+ years.

Also, Rivers is a gun!

Incorrect.

The CHF, & the CHB are the most important positions on a football field followed by a Ruckman.

The midfield is important but not more important than these 3.

I am Jones' number 1 fan but you can't say he's our most important player Rhino.

Furthermore, you added when McLean is firing & what I saw this year was a 30 year old trying to get a kick.

I agree with Demons 32 that he is a very important player & the fact we don't have a true CHF - This makes his comment even more true.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
