Spoke to him briefly this afternoon at a Fitzroy st St Kilda cafe - poor bugga had his right arm in a sling (not in plaster ) - I didnt ask what the injury was becos I didnt want to intrude too much - I just said " will you be right for round 1? - he said 'hope so'.= he looked pretty down - dunno what this new-current injury is, but not good, when 2007 was lost becos of an ankle - now the arm !

We need you Matty for 2008- good luck. ps anyone know anything about his arm ?

mate- unfortunately the post is 100 % accurate - I 'm not being a stirrer - it hurt me big time to see Matty like that - hope it was just a routine end-of-season op, but my real problem with that is that you would think an end-of-season op would have happened for him ages ago due to his ankle injury ending 2007 so early.

I wouldn't look too much into wheels expression, just the kind of guy he is. For example at half time of the Melbourne vs. Melbourne game I think we were up, and i actually had the honor of taking a wiz next to the great man, and the whole time he had that same glum look on his face.

What more can go wrong for Wheels. Lets hope he fully recovers from all his injuries and he's fully fit by round 1.

He injured his wrist in the third quarter of a Sandy game circa round 16 when he was attempting a comeback from his other injury.

I was at the game and i went to the huddle and heard him talking to the physio about the injury. He was having trouble rotating his wrist. He seemd in a lot ofpain.

He took no further part in the match or the season.

Probably a broken wrist or a serious tendon injury.

I saw TJ last weekend with his arm in plaster .

PJ had his arm in a sling when I saw him last week.

Everyone is having surgeries at this time of year, that's probably the only positive of not playing finals, having extra time to recover.

I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Hope you didn't turn around to chat. That might have made him even glummer.

Wheels has had a history of injuries and at 28 its getting worse.

In the past 2 years he has diminished as a footballer and may struggle to be in our best 22 and achieve the heights he did previously.

I very sadly agree.

I just get the feeling Wheels days are almost over.

Gouga, Wheels has not played since round 8 this year. Give the bloke a break he is 28 but his days are definatlely not over yet! When he's fit

(not injured) he is a great player, you must have forgotten the old wheels, the one that used to put his body on the line and the defender who almost beat his opponent every week and burst through packs and set up goals.

IMO Wheels days aren't over for a few more years unless he does a ACL in the off season (hopefully he doesn't)

When he's fit not injured....28.... and the "old" wheels.

understatement of the MILLENIA.

this from a guy who started yelling about wheels goal when he was still on the half back flank ( not a bad call either) and once followed him around the mcc at a distance of 10m like a puppy in love

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
