Came home during the first quarter break, and to my surprise we were even with Freo.

It's now 15 minutes into the second quarter and we're trailing by 7 goals

Yep, another week, another terrible performance. Thank god this season is nearly over.

P.S.- GET A NEW MIDFIELD COACH ASAP!!!

Posted

At least we're not faced with the difficult decision of whether we should win or lose...

all set for round 22....

Wow, we gave Freo their best 2nd quarter, ever. At least Brock is having a decent game with 16 touches. :)

Also I am shocked to say I was very impressed with Miller's physical attack on the game! Took a beautiful contested mark in the 1st quarter and kicked the goal...

We MUST change our tactics on point kick-ins.

A good starting point would be to copy the opposition's tactics each week.

We are falling down so badly each week in this fundamental test of basic coaching strategy.

When Wardy kicked that shocker to Brownie (who was pulled offthe ball while not in possession), the turnover goal changed the game.

jeez it had been a long season hasnt it...

But, one positive is that the off season is going to the most interesting in a long time...

Firstly we are going to get a new coach...people should note that if there is no announcement this week on the new coach it means sheedy has been chosen. there is no reason to wait till seasons end unless its sheedy bc he's still coaching an afl team.

secondly the trade period will be intersting. i think we will be involved.

the delistings over the preseason will be fascinating. will we do a cleanout?

then the draft will be great, especially if we lose round 22.

all i can say, is that robbo should be put out to pasture for round 22. then we will have such a shite team fielded that carlton will have no win bc it will be too obvious if they lose

why the ### did we bring in cameron bruce when he is soo underdone!!! should have just played for sandy

Not so, Hardwick and Bailey are assistants at clubs who will be playing finals........

Worser?? What is this, a sheltered workshop?? Please tell me you didn't mean that.

Well i said neitz or robbo would end up doing there knee worse than what it has been if we continue to play them, Jamar tapped the ball to freo 90% of the time today, ward kickin in was the DUMBEST idea ever, felt sorry for bruce made to follow tarant who has a big tank after missing what 4 weeks?

What a dumb idea.

Agree.

Sack Paul Williams.

Our midfield has been a disgrace this year.

He's been a disgrace this year.

How do you know it's Paul's fault? Do you know something we don't?

Just an announcement that the Demonland Report is coming to you this week from two correspondents. One from a Demonlander who went WA and the other from one of own reporters who watched from home. Probably won't be up till tomorrow.

Our midfield performance this season hasn't done him any favours.

Daniher wasn't to blame for our injuries, but he still suffered when we lost form.

I would think that both Paul Williams and our fitness coach won't be at Melbourne next year.

Nar just putting 2 and 2 togethor.

Our ability to get a clearance this year has been woeful. Our midfield pressure is non existent. Who should take the blame for that?

Whoever's job it is to make sure they are applying pressure and winning clearences (is any of it their own responsibility?)

It may well have something to do with Williams but it also might not. You don't know without spending any time in the coaches box. It annoys me when people want to sack everybody in sight when in reality, we've got no idea who is responsible for what.

Fair call.

I was in a grumpy mood, after another crap display.

I'd still get a new midfield coach.

That would be a problem with the coaching, too, yes?

Ok, I for one don't have confidence in Williams - but that's because I really, really want Viney to come back and take over the midfield.

Whatever people's opinions on Williams, can we agree that we'd be happier with Viney?

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
