Mark Thompson will coach Essendon next year

I don't think so, there like on top, no way Cats let him go!

There's still skeleton's in the closet down there though... I'd seriously doubt that it's true. but Footy's a funny game, particularly if Geelong don't live up to expectations in the finals.

I have been hoping for two weeks that someone would open a book on who the next Essendon coach will be.

I would put a bit of money on it being Thompson.

My source has always been correct when talking Essendon.

And he is sure as eggs are eggs.

Sure as eggs ey

Tell me a coach who is concentrating on coaching the priemership favorites in the finals has had enough time to 'guarantee' he will be coaching elsewhere next year. Why would he be even thinking about it at this point in time. He may well leave at the end of year but theres no way its a certain bet. BTW he would be an idiot to leave that current crop of players. All of them are young, they could very well be a major force for the next 5 years.

the same person who told me this also told me that Judd was coming home about 3 weeks ago

A shame you didn't post that up here.

However, you did post this:

My mail is the club is keen on Bond and they have gone off Sheedy

Maybe it was true at the time :)

Assuming Geelong win on Saturday......

Has there ever been another time when a Premiership winning coach left the club straight after winning the flag?

If this happened last year then I can understand it but if this turns out to be true, it would be astonishing.

I don't see it.

Geelong won't win. Port too quick and too strong for the handbaggers.

Thompson to Essendon and sleepy hollow left to wallow in misery I say! :D

Well sounds like these are all off the mark, and Mathew Knights is to be announced as coach.

SEN have just crossed to Anthony Hudson who says its all but done and dusted as of this morning…

So much for all the 'reliable sources' 'in the know' and 'on good authority' sources and scoops on here...

He might feel hes got Geelong where they wanted and in his heart he would like to go back to Essendon and get them where he would like to see them ,playing finals, It would be more challenging and rewarding if he could take over sheedys spot and make it happen, how much more respected would he become within the AFL if he brought Essendon back from the

brink

Fantastic smokescreen by the Bombers by signing Knights. Truly genius. You have brought this on yourself Pata...

Up until last week Bomber was coaching essendon next year. something has happened and obviously pulled the pin.

it doesn't take all this time to appoint a rookie coach like knights.

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the
