GAMEDAY: Rd 04 vs Gold Coast

Royal commission into the umpires bank accounts.

Hardwick sent them a couple of grand each before the game I reckon.

Umpires BOG for the suns in that first half

I’m guessing the umps will tire of cheating so blatantly and we will run over the suns.

Really happy with our half

Lucky one umpire had the sense not to pay the mark. Umpire 22 guessed. Dee’s playing great footy so refreshing.

Under no circumstances should we be wanting Gold Coast to do well and win the flag. If we aren’t involved in finals or grand finals, I’d rather see Hawks, Cats or Pies be successful. Don’t care if it’s sacrilegious or whatever.

Just nauseating how much this plastic nepo club is built up as if they are self funded and propped up. Fremantle is another club I wouldn’t mind seeing succeed.

Gold Coast is just all around plastic that no one cares about.

Great 1st half, if the team can keep up that endeavour we could have an upset brewing here.

Still very warm out here, even in the shade. Draining match for all involved.

I’m loving the pressure I’m seeing from the dees this year.

Didn’t expect to lose my voice screaming at the umpires. Nathan Williamson has [censored] over on many occasions before, why would I expect anything other than a biased affair on this fine afternoon with he holding the whistle.

At a family Easter lunch so can't really watch much, checking scores on Kayo, Carn the Dees! [looking good from the snippets I have seen] 👍 Happy Easter Demon Land 🐰🤘

Nathan Williamson is a [censored] cheat.

Just enough with the "Bailey Laurie hasn't been given a chance".

He's had countless chances, and always ends up back in the VFL - for good reason.

Sick of hearing that all of our fringe players are gems if only they hadn't been held back by Goodwin.

Good game so far, nice to be in front at half time. Really hope we keep this up.

Funny enough the free kicks are 9 a piece

Except for the 8 that were not paid to us.

It's been deplorable.

But if we get a fair shake and play this half.like.our other ones we should have this.

Some change in the middle but who?

Our inaccurate kicking has come back to bite us compared to Gcs kick hole in ones none stop.

I'm so glad Milk is back.

He could kick another four and seal it.

Although I desperately want more from Roo.

We're a better side with Melksham in it. Shame it's probably his last season, not sure there's anyone to step into his shoes. Skill, smarts, leadership.

Anyone missing Oliver and Petracca in the middle?

Maybe Gold Coast?

But seriously, our kids are doing great things against an absolutely star midfield, with Windsor particularly catching my attention.

Steele was clearly a legitimate captain and St Kilda are bonkers for first not letting him play his best game and second letting him go play his best game somewhere else. Thanks Ross, always a pleasure doing business with you.

Max Gawn is simply bagging and binning another notional rival for the All-Australian selection. Witts has nothing on the stat sheet but hitouts and yet Gawn has even been smashing him there when it comes to effect. Some of it has been sublime.

And my baby son can still say he's never 'watched' a losing half of football. Might be due for a nap shortly so the pressure will be on the Demons to carry on without their secret weapon.

Holy Hell the umps are having a shocker.

Other than that, I'm quite happy with that quarter. We're matching their star midfield and our defence is starting to click. Forward entries need work still.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demons’ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.

  • REPORT: Richmond

It seemed as if the whole purpose of the Anzac Eve clash at the MCG between the Demons and the Tigers was building toward that single, unforgettable moment when Kozzie Pickett soared above Campbell Gray and all but fittingly etched his name onto the face of the 2026 Frank ‘Checker’ Hughes Medal.
