CASEY: Rd 03 vs Box Hill

Featured Replies

Taj Woewodin running around for the Collingwood VFL team. I thought Taj deserved another year but tough calls sometimes have to be made. Same for Ollie Sestan. Another youngster who couldn’t get a good run of games.

PS( Can anyone read the team sheet posted on MFC website?)

No I can’t they really are dumb arses

Sheeeit that Casey Team would beat a Carltank and Filth team combined!!

GO CASEYDEES!

Casey forward pack look well set for offensive height. AJ and Luker Kentfield will add more than a modicum of physicality to proceedings. May they fare well. Good luck to Jobe Scapin on debut too.

Interesting to see how Rhett McLennan manages the on ball brigade, as the bench with the exception of D’Angelo are all of larger robust disposition.

Of the VFL listed players; Ethan Stanley and Luke Cheffers have refreshed the Casey ranks and will be on black label watch this Sunday morning.

Positive result last time these sides met. Will be a boost to Casey early season stocks, if they can deliver the Easter chocolates.

Exactly four weeks ago, I went to Casey Fields to watch a practice match between the same two teams that are playing there tomorrow. The AFL banned the club from playing any of their Melbourne listed players because it was the week before its first game of the season. The Hawks were allowed to use theirs because they were playing that day in Round Zero. Nevertheless, despite the fact that a few of the Casey bigger names like Bonner and Stanley didn’t suit up that day, they made a good fist of things and were still within a couple of points deep into time on and lost by 8 points in the end. Tomorrow’s team will contain at least a dozen Melbourne AFL players while the Hawks will be missing Ned Reeves who dominated the rucks that day and most likely, a couple of others. We all know about practice matches not being indicators of how teams can perform under proper match conditions, but I’m expecting a big improvement from Casey tomorrow.

Begs the question, Bailey Bill’s late call up who shall fill the breach?

Coach McLennan was effusive on prodigal Pines prospect Jarrod Gatt pre-season.

Actually I might have got this wrong!🤣

I did and apologise for starting a fake rumour which doesn’t assuage my contempt for the way this comp is run.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demons’ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.

  • REPORT: Richmond

It seemed as if the whole purpose of the Anzac Eve clash at the MCG between the Demons and the Tigers was building toward that single, unforgettable moment when Kozzie Pickett soared above Campbell Gray and all but fittingly etched his name onto the face of the 2026 Frank ‘Checker’ Hughes Medal.
