Hoping this Iran nonsense dies down so I can then go on along Euro holiday and avoid a chunk of the rest of this season 😁

Gawd .... And we cop it for going to the snow.

?? Just not true. A bit less of late, especially in 2025 when players like Kozzie and Windsor started getting more on-ball time and CBA's, but prior to that Sparrow was a regular at centre bounces - albeit behind the usual suspects of course.

Not sure why this constant rewriting of history around the Goodwin years. Lots of Outcome and Hindsight Bias in play methinks.

Sparrow had no confidence to go in the guts under Goodwin.

His outlook and demeanour have changed in 3 games.

Sparrow was terrific in the second half however it is vital to remember that one Swallow doesn't make a Summer...

Fair play to you for presenting No.31. It's fair to say that the only people who like Carlton are Carlton supporters so you've given yourself a tough gig mixing it with this motley crew but we appreciate your candour. Rest assured as the lesser of two evils we'll all be on the Blues bandwagon when you play the pies. I hope you get your wish to visit Europe. Who knows, you might bump into Vossy!

Cheers Rab.

Maybe I can invite Vossy over for a vino at Casa No. 31 by the Adriatic Sea and catch a Blues game on the clunky Watch AFL app🍷😁

Or alternatively, Wrighty keeps him coaching out the rest of the year knowing a bottom 2 finish is likely and then Carlton can nab Cody Walker despite the AFL's best efforts to stiff CFC via last minute draft rule machinations 🤔😁

But I am happy that the Dees bounced back after a poor day out visiting Freo last weekend, it gives King more breathing space to keep working on improvements as everyone can see that despite some hiccups, the trajectory is upwards.

Thought I'd post I here in case anybody else has been wondering as I have...

On SEN Steven King said that the plan for Langford and Culley going forward is to bring them into the middle, eventually.

I thought Culley was impressive again this week once he began getting in and under.

Nothing wrong with going for a little trip to get away from the mid winter footy blues. Sure some Dees fans may go to the snow, some Blues fans might head to the Mediterranean and some Pies supporters will go visit uncle at Barwon Prison.

Hopefully I'll be off to Scandinavia mid July, So I'm with you in the fingers crossed the world gets semi normal again soon.

They're pretty soft aren't they? Both won the most flags in the competition and they've had two decades of hopelessness. Try 35-40 years of it.

Not sure if this has been posted elsewhere, great video.

Kingy speaks so well. Stays calm and is always the same.

Have fun, work hard, be ruthless, selfless and connected.

Love it!

I paused for a moment to clear my head and realised that our defence gave away just five goals in three quarters of football.

I don't care if the opposition is withering away at the contests or dropping their heads, letting through barely more than a goal each quarter is a serious effort for a defensive unit which faces the main downside of a new game style.

Credit to the old guard of talls;

Lever 11 intercepts, 4 1%ers, and 400m gained if you don't mind.

McDonald 8 intercepts, 9 1%ers,

And despite some anti-highlights which mobilised the haters

Petty 7 intercepts, 9 1%ers

Howes stuck to his task, Lindsay got his job done, and Salem recovered with maturity after starting the game like a dog on fire.

Great point, you kind of forget that Carlton were still playing really, because of the lack of scoreboard changes, and we constantly were scoring.

But to hold them to such a small amount over three quarters is brilliant, and for a team that has been commented on for being not very defensive, it gives the defense a great tick in the box!

I just watched on utube GawnOfTheDead, your right King is cool calm and collected speaks so well holds the group together showed confidence in them and celebrated their victory. Matter of fact they are all a pretty relaxed and calm group.

Kingy would be such a good boss to have

He is the anti-Bucks. I love we had the guts to go with King. Bucks for all his passion and knowledge is just not a good man manager

5 goals. one was from that petty 50m and another when lever was dragged out of the contest by his jumper. How that wasn't a free I'll never know

Langford Sparrow Rivers will provide grunt and class, maybe Kolt too who must be learning lots from the best in his tagging roles. Lindsay

Windsor,, Sharp, Kozzie and maybe even Cuzzy for run and flair. Who knows about Onley and or Taylor?

There's been a fair bit of discussion on this thread about the eventual make up of our future midfield.

What I'm hoping is that we basically have the bones of it there already and that King can extract maximum value from a group that isn't necessarily 7-8 A graders, but that they can play as a team of A graders if that makes sense.

That's one thing I've admired about Geelong over the last decade. Often pretty ordinary list with a few stars, but together as a team these guys like Guthrie and Close etc become valuable cogs in ball movement.

I also think we're another two young guns away from being able to start targeting FAs for list demographics and needs (ala May, Lever and Langdon).

But in the meantime, if King can maximise output from the current group, we'll be very well set. And importantly, we'll be able to attract these FAs because we'll be a sexy outfit.

Michael Voss commenting on the Blues' prospects this weekend is also Michael Voss explain what has gone so terribly wrong at Carlton;

"I certainly wouldn't come into this game not thinking that can't happen"

I actually thought there was growth with Lever within the game.

I've been critical of his ability to move the ball on quickly and aggressively and questioned his ability within this system.

I watched the replay this afternoon and there was a moment very early in the second quarter where he moved it on quickly, but went wide instead of corridor. Now maybe that was the plan, but it seemed too safe and counter-intuitive.

By the end of the game he was playing real direct, slingshot stuff. I loved it. As soon as he intercepted, he looked to see if we had outnumbers forward of the ball, and we often did and moved it that way aggressively.

It was a great game from Jake, and we need more of it, especially without Turner for a few weeks.

Gold Coast will be a big test.

and the rest which were missed. Even Carlton supporters around us couldn't believe it.

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
