POSTGAME: Rd 01 vs St. Kilda

Featured Replies

Well that was totally awesome. I picked the Demons to win And Jack Steele played a solid game.

JVR took control

We should fear no opponent, just play hard and fast

The Members will returnโ€ฆ

ย

Great calls on Roo being relieved from 2nd ruck duties. Petty did well there and it's got to be a positive for Roos forward craft

Goodwin would loathe rotating defender to cover the ruck.

Beat Freo next week and watch it increase.

Watched the game with a StKilda mate. We both thoroughly enjoyed it ( me probably a little more lol )

We both commented on how different the Dees play now. Aints played much better than v Pies. God only knows why Ryan returned ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿคท

Well done King...

We ought to get better with practice ( imho )

King has cured us of Long bombitis

Lots of brilliant lowering of the eyes wasn't there? Really great to see.

What King has been able to do in a very short time is McCrae-esque.

A perfect footy weekend. Pies lose and we win.

Max is proving himself to be an extremely rare physical specimen.

What does he do on his few weeks off training? 100โ€™s of kms of bike riding.

His tank is unrivalled as is his will to win and lead.

Kozzi spoke so well after the game - he just stands up like a captain should.

He could surprise many and keep going for a few years.

Imagine 300 games and another flag and 10 AAs. nothing is off the table with this bloke

Whatever happens from here, King definitely has this group on the right trac (sic)

Pun intended

ngl, had tears in my eyes singing the song. Something felt absolutely monumental about that win and the celebrations were different. Like a weight has been lifted from our shoulders knowing this new era and gamestyle has truely begun. And seeing King up in the box jubilant was awesome. Harry [censored] Sharp

Pffft I didnโ€™t. And I didnโ€™t shed a tear. Not a single tear.

OK I cried like a baby. The relief was overwhelming. Itโ€™s hard to keep it together when your heart is bursting with pride. So bloody proud to be a Dees supporter.

When did we last kick 18 goals in a game?

Round 21 last year although that was against the eagles

Mihocek is going to be huge for us

No way JVR kicks 6 today without him. JVR is no longer double teamed and can take the second defender. His game sense and maturity will help Roo turn into a star

My word, the Pies missed him this weekend too. McStay is bog average

Just be how great was it to see our coach pleased about our win.

I do not even mind if there are learnings,

Heath has to come in next week against the dynamic duo

We canโ€™t expect that from Max every week

A small point - Harry Petty actually looked pretty good in the few centre bounces he contested.

Agreed.

Looked much more comfortable in the ruck compared to last year. Had some solid moments down back as well.

Big year for him with May now retired.

weโ€™re all allowed to be proud this week

Steele really stuck it right up them

You want to get rid of me to pay Silvani 900k a year?

Captain and 2x BnF winner shown zero respect.

His goal was the moment of the match for me. Everyone got to him. A 31yo feeling like a kid debuting. Loved it

Well there were a lot of good and some bad, but I loved the fact they took it on and they were better for it, it showed when you allow players a chance to show some flair they are better for it, I was a little concerned in the last quarter they start reverting back to the old style for a bit but then got going again, you can see how May kept the backline together as Lever was all at sea, Salem does some good things but undoes everything in one hit, but it is going to take a little while to bed this gameplan down and we will cop some hidings along the way but it will get better once they learn not to allow the opposition too much freedom but I am still amazed at coaches allows the opposition loose players across the backline but then again that's today's football.

We killed the clock with sublime play.

Usually we panicked and turnovers ensued.

Despite everything King s aiming for this one stood out.

Well done coach. We may very well be in good hands at last

And entertaining? You bet it was

When petty went unto the ruck he had a good leap on him. Wonder how king came up with that idea.

It's good van rooyen can stay forward then.

Looking forward to hearing what king had to say in his presser

Thought Kolt played pretty well when following NAS around the midfield, showed enough to suggest he can make the grade

I think itโ€™s great also that we got the win against a presumed mid-tier team when so many players didnโ€™t have their best games IMO. I mean that in a positive way too, round 1 so weโ€™re rusty but we got a good win and didnโ€™t wilt in the last.

Saints missed a lot of gettable goals but so did we. I think early in the last we missed 3 easy goals and marks to which in previous years we would drop our heads and start panicking. But we didnโ€™t this time! The end of the game was perfection. Less than 3 minutes left to start killing the clock. Theyโ€™ve obviously worked a lot on that over the summer as there was a clear plan and everyone kept their composure.

This is one of those โ€˜how many close games do we loseโ€™ games. But we got it done this team.

Thereโ€™s a lot of work to do but thereโ€™s also a lot of ceiling left to get better. Itโ€™s very exciting and so much to be positive about our direction. Gonna be an interesting year to say the least.

I thought this rule would hurt Max but maybe it might help a bit, going to interesting watching how it plays out but I love the rule the only rule I hate is the stand rule and hope they get rid of it and revert back that if a player moves of the mark they can move sideways to have an even chance.
