NON-MFC: 2026 Opening Round

Featured Replies

Normally I barrack for anyone against the dirty Pies and I used to harbour fondness for the Saints but I wish nothing but the worst for the St Kilda this season. Hoping for a very bruising draw for tonight 😁

Actually tipped the Pies, I know they have significant outs but I think McCrae will drill the replacements to play his system. Plug and play. Really not sure what to expect, nothing will surprise me.

Go MRO and physios! 😁

I guess 1/4 of the crowd just didn’t show up

Worse at GWS game.

16,000 attended at a 24,000capacity ground.

2/3 full.

No wonder AFL see the northern states as an issue. Opening northern round here to stay sadly.

16th season for GCS and 14th for GWS, but they don’t fill small stadiums. Sydney and Brisbane both get good crowds consistently. Does the AFL care about crowd numbers for those clubs? Or do they care more about eyeballs on the tv/streaming?

I don’t actually know what metric the AFL concentrates on to determine GCS/GWS being a ‘success’.

Good game last night, but we should remember The Demons beat them up there, did not do us much good.

and Brisbane have had a bit less of a pre season than the rest. Like Jeelong

Good luck with the colours when you take the patch off. for me 4 times as bright, seems normal now.

No it's not.

The fact that we let go 3 of our big name players, including 2 that we're having to pay out, plus changing our CEO and President, plus restructuring the FD/Board relationship with a new senior post, would strongly suggest that the issues went a lot deeper than just Goodwin - or any individual for that matter.

Head Coach let it all happen.....

Jesus.

Honestly, what the [censored] has St Kilda done or achieved to warrant all this hype?

NWM- 1 breakout season, albeit a great one.

TDK - emerging

Silvagni- Overrated. Has never been in AA conversation

Max King- Can’t get fit

Phillipou- inconsistent, can’t string together good games

Owens - Promising, but still yet to fully breakout

Wilkie, Sinclair and NWM are genuine A listers, but who else do they have?

I just hope Collingwood bring them back down to earth and give a massive reality check.

Tonight, I am a Collingwood fan.

You don’t have to hope, St Kilda always come back to earth

Ross is just in it for [censored] and giggles

Then we get a team looking for revenge next week. They beat us twice last year on one occasion by 10 goals and then we lost the un- lose able. I will just imagine you didn’t say the unthinkable at the end.

Seriously if the AFL is serious about head injuries then it has to be 6 weeks!

Ump Kilda. Terrible 50 for a goal then a soft as butter free results on a goal.

I tipped the Giants and the Dogs, I had a couple of bets one with Saints and the other two with the Pies. I cashed out all three this morning. I think Collingwood will win but don’t really rate either side. Pies on a massive slide and the Saints yet to really achieve anything. Need to check what picks the Pies gave away for Houston, he’s very underwhelming.

i thought the alf always told the umps to favour the pies clint?

Why are the saints supporters wearing yellow hard hats?

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
