We'll have aliens, a multiverse and GTA6 before we get 1 of those.

AND if I had to put a bet on... I bet we get all of those 3 things first.

Aliens and a multiverse… maybe. But GTA6??? A couple of lifetimes need to pass first.

I have no clue who Gemma Bastiani is, but on the AFL app she has us finishing 7th.

I like you, Gemma.

Gemma is a footy analyst and stats expert who reports on the W comp. She doesn’t barrack for the Dees but generally speaks well of both our M and W teams.

Fainting

Melbourne finish 10th

Kozzie wins Brownlow

My 566.25 to 1 multi gets up

$50k hits my TAB account

I donate $1k to Demon Army

Then I wake up 😩

Premier: Melbourne
Brownlow:
Jack Steele.
Rising Star: Latrelle Pickett
Story of the season: Dees win the flag from 10th position
On the rise: Eagles finish 17th
On the slide: Geelong after losing premiership points due to AFL Salary Cap breaches being self reported.
Headline you won’t see: Chris Scott admits to taking cash payments from club sponsors
Fans’ biggest gripe: Collingwood fans want to see their players interviewed during the Brownlow in between every round, including checking in with Nick Daicos after every second round, and then an explanation by Andrew Dillon as to why Nick Daicos didn’t get the 3 votes in every match he played.
An AFL final 10 will mean: a very very long finals series

Falls under her spell and can't stop saying Nice things about Chandler.

Both Gold Coast an St Kilda fail to deal with expectations, both finishing outside the top 8.

Melbourne is a massive surprise packet, looking like they can beat anyone on their day....ends up 4th, could have been top had we not dropped a couple of games against the bottom 4 teams.

Collingwood and Geelong have trouble with consistency, they struggle vs faster ball moving teams....they end up limping into wildcard round.

The gameday thread doesn't turn into a mix of utter despair at our skills, umpiring travesties, arguments about selection and bemoaning of coaching strategies within the first 5 minutes of the game - with no mention as to whether we are winning or losing.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.

  • POSTGAME: Gold Coast

The Demons put four quarters of hard contested, fast running and high pressure football to knock off the ladder leaders and early premiership contenders the Gold Suns by 20 points at the MCG on Easter Sunday.

  • PODCAST: Gold Coast

I’ll be away for the next few weeks, so Binman will be holding the fort for our podcasts covering the Suns, Bombers and Lions matches. As a result, there will be no live podcasts during this period, and we won’t be taking calls or voicemails. Binman will still be dipping into this thread to select a few questions to answer, while also combining the long-form Stats Files podcast with the Demonland Podcast for these shows. Your questions and comments are a huge part of what makes the podcast work, so please post anything you’d like to ask or say below and we’ll do our best to give you a shout-out on the show. Please try to keep each post focused on one specific topic or player to make podcast preparation a little easier. If you have multiple topics you’d like to raise, please put them in separate posts.
