Max - adapting like the champion he is

Windsor - wheels we know with the composure we desire

Salem - his kicking is and will thrive from having players available in more dangerous areas that only he can pinpoint

Sparrow - providing the grunt that’s needed to allow Koz / Windsor to explode

Steele - see above

JVR - clunking them.

Special mention to Fritsch who is just so classy with ball in hand. Execution, decision making and movement. Love the Fritta.

Closely followed by Kade, Lingers and Rick, Jeez Petts needs match time, overall a good hit out apart from the lousy hit on Kentfield.

Honestly the AFL could not organise a 5 cent toilet. Starting a game at 4 pm at a ground in the country when stormy weather was forcast at a ground with no lights. What could go wrong. And the compliant media will say nil.

  • PREVIEW: Essendon

Not long ago, the narrative surrounding Melbourne was steeped in pessimism. There was some concern among the pundits (and even some fans) that the club would arrive at the AFL’s Gather Round still winless, vulnerable to a familiar adversary in the Essendon Football Club, and facing significant scrutiny from an ever-critical media on a national stage. Things have changed.

  • REPORT: Gold Coast

Steven King astutely identified the issues that had plagued the Melbourne Football Club over the past two and a half seasons when he auditioned for the newly created coaching role. The side that had claimed the 2021 premiership had become stodgy, slow-paced, and hesitant to take the initiative.
