2026 AFL Fixture

Featured Replies

I can see round 1 being versus GWS or Gold Coast, to play up Trac and Clarry leaving. The media will be insufferable abut this.

Please no Thursday night games, or at the worst, as few as possible.

Opening round against St Kilda.

Get it out of the way so we can move forward.

One advantage of finishing down near the bottom is you know we’ll be getting a number of early Saturday (1:20pm) and early Sunday (1:10) MCG games. I can confidently speak for most posters here that these timeslots are the most preferred.

Aside from Anzac Eve and KB’day, I don’t see us playing a marquee timeslot (Thursday or Friday night game) in VIC in the first 15 rounds. Maybe a Saturday night at best.

All the noise suggests St Kilda V Collingwood on Labour Day eve for opening round.

I can see a scenario where we play GC in opening round (Trac factor) and then the Saints at the G in round 1?? I think that game would get some publicity- the return bout.

As long as we miss the Cats at the [censored] Park, then it will be ok.

Hopefully the Dees get two games v Eagles and two games v Tigers.

I tend to agree with those not desperately hoping for a soft draw. Admittedly sometimes due to harder matches the eighth best team comes tenth and watches the bottom team in the eight get a shellacking in their elimination final. Actually maybe that'd be better for Melbourne who I dont think will be a real contender next year. But for those that are the ones that are 8-3 against the top 8 sides is both better prepared and probably a better standard than those finalists who had less hard games and comparably are 3-6.

Our new coach until a few months ago was mainly considered a Geelong person. I'm guessing thus we'll play his old team twice, orbat least continue the yearly 'tradition' playing at Geelong with crowd hoping their team beat their former alumnus.

And hopefully the new coach knows how to play at that [censored] heap ground and can inspire us to win there

As a supporter living in Sydney I’d like to play the Giants at Engie stadium as I’ve never been, not a fan of the SCG at all.

Id like to have our Anzac Eve & Kings birthday on alternative years.

Geelong st the G.

People need to remember that most if not all Melbourne based clubs request to play the Pies at the G as they’re guaranteed a crowd and bigger gate takings even if their home ground is Marvel.

We need to earn the right to better time slots back.

Fixture to come out next week (probably Thursday) according to reports, with Gather Round and Opening Round a chance to be revealed between Sunday and Wednesday.

Just me speculating but I expect the King era to begin on the Gold Coast for opening round. This is due to the Trac factor and Collingwood wanting out of Opening Round and therefore opening up a spot for the MFC. Then a round 1 home game at the G??

If I'm in charge of the fixture I'd be sending the pies to Darwin to play the GC. Not only because they've whinged about travelling to opening round, but I think the Darwin people would love to see a big club up there. But we know that won't ha.

Maybe we'll get the giants in opening round to not only replace Collingwood, but because of the Oliver factor

Well we aren't playing gold coast or gws in opening round. In fact we aren't even playing opening round according to ch7

I convinced myself that we’d be playing GC on opening round due to the Trac factor.

That doesn’t mean we won’t play them or GWS in round 1 though.

I wouldn’t mind a nice round one Sunday Arvo at the G against the giants again

Amazing that Scott Pendlebury who has played 425 career games has never played at Geelong and likely never will.

Amazing is one word for it

I honestly don’t give AF

When we were successful it was thursday and saturday nights

I’d prefer day games.

But [censored] em. Any day watching the mighty demons is a good day

Surely they are not persisting with the Opening Round debacle?

another 11 bye rounds coming up?

why do I even participate in supercoach?!?

Maybe next year is the year Collingwood play down there with the increased capacity.

Geelong play 10 home games at GMHBA and their one home game at the G will be against Hawthorn on Easter Monday next year.

Rigged is another!

Dreaming is a last day in September game at the “G” with a Cup for winning!

It isn't amazing when factoring in that the AFL and most supporters are totally obsessed with crowd numbers

For instance, the minute that the Demons draw a crowd of less than 20k against an interstate team, there's hell to pay

Paranoia on a mass scale

Saints thinking they are relevant is cute. It's just a way to have Pies in Round 0 without travelling.

  • PREVIEW: Gold Coast

Melbourne’s slow starts have been a troubling theme for a while. Against the Suns, they started slowly in both of their games, they trailed by 5.7.37 to 0.1.1 at quarter time at Peoples First Stadium in Round 16. This season, the story has remained the same and if the Demons fail to shake off this issue against the unbeaten Gold Coast Suns, they will be in serious danger of capitulating once again in their Easter Sunday showdown.

  • REPORT: Carlton

The text messages started flooding in shortly after quarter time. One read: “Is Melbourne even at the ground?” Moments later, as Carlton’s Elijah Hollands kicked the first goal of the second term, the Blues held a commanding 43-point lead. By then, the Demons’ only score was a behind kicked by Brody Mihocek nearly five minutes into the game. Ironically, Mihocek would also register the last minor score of the day after the game took a dramatic turnaround.
