Let’s go !!! What are our requests (or demands) to the AFL for next years fixture !!

We played the Tigers (Anzac Eve) and Magpies (Kings Birthday) as our “home game events” this year so they are away games next year.

What other blockbuster games can we ask to have ?

I hope we get Cats at Geelong, we never play there.

So let’s see … hmmm Gather Round. Hopefully it’s an away game - Cats (as the sacrificial home team) v Dees at the Barossa !! Perfect picnic atmosphere. Lots of 4WDs parked around the ground

I hope we play the Cats at Geelong…

TWICE!

I'm worried that we will kicked off to the Barossa valley for Gather Round.....having had all Adelaide Oval matches so far.

In fairness we probably deserve to be kicked off AO. I’m happy to play WC at Barossa.

Lock in GC V Dees away for opening round (IMO).

I hope we play Essendon 23 times.

Pretty safe bets are that we will play the Suns and Cats twice and two trips to Perth.

Let's see

Geelong in Geelong, West coast away, Freo @ the g, pies in the last round, a 10 day break masquerading as a "bye" after kings birthday, Gold Coast away in about round 5...

My requests are simple…

No more floating [censored] fixture! Fair enough during covid but now we should go back to the release of the fixture in its entirety, with maybe the only unreleased day/time being round 24.

And 86 the stoopid Opening Round or Round Zero or whatever it’s called.

And no clashes with the AFLW matches of the same club à la us having to leave the men’s match vs Hawthorn at halftime to get over to Whitten Oval in time for the Round One W match.

And split Gather Round into two weekends so hopefully the airfare and accommodation is only half as criminally high as it is on that one weekend.

And don’t schedule Gather Round to coincide with school holidays.

That’s just off the top of my head. I’ll likely be visiting this thread again 😡

Yep, may as well get going down there out of the way whilst redeveloping into a contender. Then all games at MCG like Carlton, Tigers, Hawks, Bombers, filth.

Pies in the last round sucks but is better than interstate in the last round.

Wait, twice? I meant to say FOUR TIMES…

Men’s x 2 & Women’s x2

And chuck in a Casey game in Geelong for good measure.

I got the humour, and emoji-ed accordingly, G, but, putting on my 'reality hat' (cue gifs n memes of all sorts, I'm sure) we finished bottom 6 so should meet top 6s only once?

It is the AFL, however.

And it is us.

And it is Geelong...

And you're worried about that why?

Barossa Valley seems like the perfect location for Dees fans and it's not like we've actually done any good at Adelaide oval during Gather Rd anyway. Us playing one of the Adelaide teams (or anyone other than playing each other) gather round sux as it effectively gifts them an address home game.

We don't want (or need) a soft draw. Our new look list will still have loads of experienced types, so it's best that we get tested as much as possible

If we're good enough, we'll get our fair share of wins. If not, there's always the 'learnings'

However, because we finished 14th in season 2025, we should (by default) get double up games against 3 of the bottom 6 teams (and 2 double up games against the middle 6 teams)

Having said all that, it would be nice if we got to play the Cats at the MCG (if both teams are in form, a decent crowd could be expected)

Not to play Collingwood in r24. I'm getting sick of that.

Play Adelaide at the mcg. I feel like it's been awhile

Three times! We'll get to play them in a final there too, surely!

Agreed, Macca. We were given a soft draw in the W this season which was awesome in the beginning since we were racking up wins and amassing a healthy percentage which has seen us never lower than third on the ladder. But we’ve been spared the test of playing North or Adelaide or Carlton.

That said, we’ve had three losses all of which were played interstate. The likelihood is that we’ll play in at least two finals both of which will be at Princes Park.

My conclusion therefore is that we win the flag! 🥳😝🥳

Just gotta hope covid runs through the NMFC and takes out everyone in its path

Especially Birch 🤭

Wouldnt mind a little Tassie get away next year

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
