I'm sure that after Essendon's inspiring win over us, they'll continue on their merry way and handle the Suns with relative ease.

I can see Essendon's heavy hitters in McKay, Gresham, Wright and Tsatas being too overwhelming for the Suns to handle.

Depressing reading that, im sure you felt even worse writing it up.

On the contrary, I absolutely enjoyed watching Essendon players who haven't done a thing in more than 12 months all of a sudden play like All Australians all on the one day.

Even worse watching it live and listening to those smug tricks grow another leg in confidence.

I hope in 2 weeks time I hope we don't fall into the trap as we did in Gather round.

Richmond haven't won a game this year and are on a soon to be after this weekend 11 game losing streak.

It was just payback for when we were in their position in 2010, 2011 and 2012 and quickly snuffed out any hype surrounding them by beating them despite being outsiders. I think they were undefeated in 2012 when we beat them.

2013.... scene missing.

Fair call. (they were 8-1 against us coming into the 2012 game but point taken)

We had no business beating them in 2012 and 2014.

10.1 goals suggest it isn't sustainable but the Dons are up at the major break

Gold Coast 8.10.58
Essendon 10.1.61

i'm out an about but just saw the score

bombers a chance

a third loss on the spin for the Suns would be great

I think the best case scenario is playing out currently. Suns aren't the dominant force we thought they were and could hopefully slip into the 5 to 8 range come finals time, which will potentially net us a Pick in the 11-15 range. Heck if they by chance lost a wildcard game that could be Pick 9 or 10. Just hope they don't gain momentum and go on a run.

If the Suns held Humphrey hostage, we'd still net two decent young players again at the worse. Or could trade up for a high pick?

The spooky thought that we fixed Essendon and broke Gold Coast.

Anyone else remember the good old days, as far back as the Daniher era, where teams were constantly changing their overall form, from good to bad or back again, after playing the Demons? Back when we were the top ranked Victorian side and the only ones deemed a credible finals threat?

Meanwhile, how embarrassing that a team which can field an entire starting 18 from the first round of the draft, with a triple-premiership coach in charge, is struggling to look like serious contenders?

Hopefully it is back to leaking talent in all directions for the Suns. Sorry, SUNS. Is ol' Humpy going to be a new Steven May?

Can't play us every week

suns very poor so far today. Normally wouldn’t barrack for hawks but I hope they put suns to the sword here

Game is toast. Suns the pretenders of 2026. Trac - suffer in your jocks.

We should be able to trade into the top 5 with our two picks. Hopefully a strong draft year awaits us.

THE DEATHRIDE IS OOON!!

Apparently bring guys like JUH and Trac is not good for your culture, who would have known?

playing selfish disconnected footy. nothing like last year

Rd 0 win against undermanned Cats

Rd 1 win against Eagles

Rd 2 win against Tigers

Rd 3 bye

Rd 4 loss to us

Rd 5 loss to Swans

Rd 6 win against Essendon

Rd 7 likely loss to Hawthorn or will they turn it around in the second half. A loo today would show a clear pattern.

I went the early crow

will i ever learn??

The one time I want these clowns to win a game and they start choking.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The winds finally returned to Casey Fields for the Demons’ third home game of the VFL season, and its impact was immediate. After two opening rounds played in uncharacteristically fine conditions, the Anzac Day clash brought back the familiar gusty conditions that have been a feature of the region at this time of the year.
Forced to kick into the breeze first, the slow-starting Demons faced a tricky opening against an enthusiastic young Tigers outfit. Casey responded by turning the contest into a scramble, pressuring Richmond into errors and missed targets. The tactic proved crucial, keeping the game tight for three and a half quarters before the Demons pulled away with the autumn wind at their backs.

  • REPORT: Richmond

It seemed as if the whole purpose of the Anzac Eve clash at the MCG between the Demons and the Tigers was building toward that single, unforgettable moment when Kozzie Pickett soared above Campbell Gray and all but fittingly etched his name onto the face of the 2026 Frank ‘Checker’ Hughes Medal.
