Yep. 7 + 8 is basically the value of pick 1 -2.

The value of the later pick swaps will be dependent on ladder placings. Based on this year's order, it's the equivalent of them having acquired an extra 3rd rounder, but if we both finish in the same neighbourhood its effectively a wash.

Ok now please don't package all our picks to move up the draft order for another Tholstrup.

Trac will always be a Melbourne legend. His Performance in the GF was one for the ages. Hard to choose between his first goal from outside the 50 or his second goal which he dribbled through from the forward pocket - his power and finesse on full display.

Things really went pear shaped - his mind, body and ego after his near death experience on the operating table. He returned - but to me, not the same Trac. I would have been devastated had he left at the end of 2021 - but I'm not devastated now. He gets to move on, we get decent draft compensation and salary cap space to target players coming out of contract in the next few years.

I honestly wish him all the best, and will be eternally grateful for his epic contribution to the club.

We have done a pretty good deal for a player who will turn 30 before next season.

Picks 7 and 8 wll assist our rebuild and Gold Coast's 2026 pick could well be in the range of 1 to 4.

I'm sad to lose a player of Petracca's quality but must admit my respect for him as a person is no longer what it once was.

Mind you Freo in 2023 finished 14th after making a long awaited finals series. And it was a great year to death ride Freo.

Similar situation to Gold Coast 2025 into 2026. Maiden finals campaign. Can they continue their trajectory next year?

Injuries killed Freo and that’s what we will rely on with GCS. They are now absolutely stacked

If you had told me in September 2021 that this would be on the cards I would have prayed at that time that it was not true, but now we see Jackson, ANB, Clarry and Tracc all in other colours.

I wont feel compelled to pretend his recipes look impressive now that I somehow convinced myself that nice comments would make him a dee for life hahah.

If Trac has any good grass recipes he'll be Rowell's best mate.

On a more serious note though, all the best to him for the future. Red and Blue gun. Instrumental in No. 13. Gave it everything on the park. Absolute beast to watch in his prime.

Would have been nice if he was a one club player but his priorities didn't align. That's life.

End of an era but I'm glad we can all now move on.

Very sad day & a reflection of how poorly the club managed whatever occurred culturally to make a player like Trac want to leave, he’s our only Norm Smith…like many we would like to know why but we will never know, Watching him talk after the win at Geelong in 21 and how he dedicate it to all the suffering supporter base in tears to fast fwd and see he’s disconnection…I question he’s motives also & will never know what they are…

Moving fwd King can now have clear air without the continued question of Tracs future. The trades look decent with exp/leadership of Steele & strengthen the fwd with Brody & Cj defence
