Farewell Christian Petracca

3 firsts for a 30 year old (granted with some picks going back the otherway) is extraordinary

Agreed! And - did that need to be gendered? 😘

Yes, it did because of the tone of voice that was going on in my head when I was writing it!

But, in all seriousness, it was a conscious stylistic choice because I thought the gendering made my point more humourous by tying it to a stereotypically misguided concept of masculinity, rather than to the typically human concept of confirmation bias. I imagine that explaining it like this will make that little joke even funnier ...... 😐

If that ends up being the trade, boy am I excited for the GC Death Ride Thread

May it be as successful as the Freo one

Given this year is a shallow draft we will basically get two picks at the higher end of it and ditch our second rounders for another first in a better draft next year. Not sure how people can't see that as a win.

So why were you critical of future firsts recently?

Why is a future first rounder for 24 and 28 delighting so many people? Obviously not seeing what others are seeing.

Those picks in this draft won’t be used by us probably and are not as good as F1st in 2026 a better draft where we can get another couple of talented youngsters or have ammunition for a trade.

Lighten up everyone. Sometimes it feels like Marvin The Paranoid Android posts under several names here.

Huh?

Just seemed like you weren't crash hot on it a week or two ago.

Then again I thought 14 and a future first was a good deal 3 weeks ago so won't be giving up my day job.

Bring on the burning of my Petracca merchandise and the 2026 GC death ride!

Yes agree with these sentiments! My Trac wobble character will find difficulty wobbling his missing head! Alternately potential as a voodoo doll!

I think I'll just thank Petracca for the premiership

14 and a future first is absolutely a bad deal. 7,8 and a future first is a totally different conversation.

Wonder if we have a nibble at one of Essendon's early picks with our F1, should Essendon want to spread their picks over a couple of years

2024/25 outcome says hullo! 😄

My girlfriend asked what I was going to do with my '21 Petracca Grand Final fridge magnet, that's the big question of Trade week now.

Wasn't comparing the two.

Okay. To absolutely clarify I have no issue with us taking onfuture firsts as part of a deal especially if the rest of the deal is good too.

The future 1st is a great addition to the haul. We surely have to be happy with that.

Two picks in first round of a stronger draft in 2026 is very good to have.

7-8 this year can give us 2 good kids or one hopefully better kid, if we upgrade for this year.

We are adding talent before Tassie kills the 2027 draft.

As far as ‘good riddance’ statements by a club go, that’s a pretty strong one.

@dazzledavey36 can you please stop telling me they will be fine, I much prefer living in a world knowing and pretending both Carlton and Essendon will be utter trash.

You don’t have to pretend where Essendon concerned

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

It’s late February. Two teams widely predicted to finish near the foot of the AFL table in 2026 face off against each other in sweltering 30-degree heat deep in outer suburbia in a match simulation with fresh new faces and uneven team numbers. There are no nearby sheep stations on offer; the result promises nothing more than bragging rights for the winner. Nevertheless, the loser appears hopelessly adrift, whereas the other seems to have found its footing after a couple of years of struggle – perhaps a hint at bigger things to come?
