Well we know who fell out of bed on the wrong side today.

Clarry is also my favourite Dee and I am not thrilled, but do we honestly believe King just doesn’t like bad hairstyles and wants a great of the club gone.

There must be reasons for this and we don’t know what King and the FD know, so let’s trust them at this stage, as they try to make us better.

Before we sack TL, can we see how we end up and then we can evaluate our situation a little more accurately.

Btw, I don’t think TL hates bad hairstyles that much either and I also don’t think he hates Tracc’s recipes enough to trade him.

Traccc is clearly being traded because he wants to go.

Lets stay on the bus, enjoy the scenery and hope we like the destination.

My view is we need to keep one of trac or clarry. Moving both on seems too extreme.

I think we can get a better deal for trac so my preference is to keep Claz.

Without them both our midfield depth would be terrible. They must think Tommy Sparrow and others can have similar output

U must be on a Snoop Dawg Reefer!?? U want to trade out a magnificent player that will go down as one of the BEST PLAYERS for MFC of all time to a player Wade Derkson who has the C.V of a 4th grade suburban player in the magoos??? Yeah right!

I agree, once Clarry & Trac leave all these posters will come out & say ‘They’re not that good anyway’

Understand what Kings doing, Pert Roffey & Goodwin should hang their head in shame for what they’ve done.

If we were a well run club we would’ve played in three Grand Finals with that list

King sat down with the coaches and high performance team at the G the other day to discuss his plans. He even mentioned they went over the data on where we compared to other teams.

The point is no decision is being made by a new or the club without good reason. The data will show Clayton's and Trac's strengths and weaknesses. King will know what he is losing and will have to replace it with something that works for him.

No one really believes this. We are offering to pay more than 50% of his contract to see the back of him. We are salary dumping to make a big play at Flanders and Humphrey.

There is no chance Humphrey is leaving GWS.

Yep there is no chance at all.

That’s what the media have said, Flanders is gone now so we look a bit silly

MFC has basically given Clarry his marching orders. They have done it in a DECEITFUL way knowing that he would not accept playing elsewhere than as a midfielder. Poor show and at the moment I have no desire to renew my membership next season. Mr King has made a poor start to his coaching career. Just hope he can justify this decision. I fear that if they let Petracca go we are only going to have West Coast behind us on the final AFL ladder. Hardly a recipe for playing finals Mr King.

But how do you know he wouldn’t accept playing in any other position? I personally believe he’d be open to changing roles. I also believe he’d even play for Casey if it came to that. Point is, he wants to remain a Demon above anything else.

Imo the only “damage” done by King et al is how they’ve made Clarrie feel. They’ve obviously - and probably unintentionally - made him feel he’s not wanted. This may not affect other players to a great extent but it certainly does with Clarrie. This shouldn’t be dismissed nor even underestimated.

What worries me is the timing of this: we no longer have Stephen Rendall (former club psychologist) and his position is still being advertised so we can only assume we don’t have anyone to replace him as yet. And of course we no longer have Goody, another integral part of Clarrie’s mental well-being.

Oliver kicking to Hogan in charcoal and orange is going to be weird to watch.

Jack Steele offers to relinquish captaincy but still told to explore his options ..def no of field issues. Rowan Marshall their No 1 ruckman is off to Geelong to become their No 1 ruckman. They are paying a BGrader in Silvagni $4 mil over 5 years …Wanganeen who’s already at the club $2 mil a season for the next 2 seasons ..I could go on. My point is ..the game is brutal …most of the supporters on here were screaming for change ..are still blaming Goody & yet when change comes …there seems to be more negativity than positivity. I’m sad about Clarry …mad at Judd..understand the May decision & disappointed in Trac (not the fact he’s going). 2026 will determine how this all plays out but get on board with the new coach & our team. I feel excited

As usual, GW, spot on.

Anyone can see that Clarrie needs to be handled with sensitivity. That's not a knock on him; it's just what he is. Of course, the Neanderthals will say "shape up or ship out" or some version of that, but they are Neanderthals. However, if reports are correct, and they are all we have, there was no sensitivity about this at all.

I am already having dreadful PTSD flashbacks to the Neeld regime.

It's a big swing. Never guaranteed to come off. Consolation prize is a cultural reset and some first rounders.

He's an adult FFS. He's had sensitivity, how about accountability.

Terrible thing getting wined and dined on a boat cruise in Sydney harbour. And collecting the fat pay cheque can’t be easy either.

I’m getting a little bit over the whole mental health cloak of immunity. He an immature 28 year old man who has been Molly coddled because of his talent. There’s plenty of normal people trying to pay mortgages and put food on the table that have to deal with a lot more than a man child millionaire footballer.

He should learn to deal with his troubles (and I’m not saying they are not real) and grow up.

I expect he could and would deal with it. But as I said, a bit of sensitivity was needed. But the responses have been exactly as I expected - and not because I think they are right.

TL;DR: the way this was handled is part of the problem, mental health is a real issue, but also requires accountability from the person, I’m butt hurt that this is happening.

You guys can all laugh at me and mock me over what I’m about to say, but it’s my honest opinion. From reports, the way this was handled was awful. Think about it, we know Clarry has struggled both on and off field and is a bit fragile. He’s leaving on a planned trip to Sydney and America and gets called in to meet with King with very little notice—from what I read he was home in Echuca and was told the night before. We know he was upset last year at being dangled for trade 2 years running—and last year per reports, there was a decent deal from Geelong that the club put the kibosh on.

I know I heard Guerra say that King listed both him and Trac in his best 22. Oliver later made a statement that he was committed to the Demons. Now, 2-3 weeks later things have changed—according to the media. Different statement from the club. So, in that, I understand why he’d be upset. All of my friends/family know I love Clarry, but at the same time, I have also worked in mental health type services for 25 years so also get that he’s a professional on a large salary who attended his workplace and met with essentially his boss and reportedly got a bit heated—I’m also giving a bit of the benefit of the doubt here. I wasn’t in that room, so I’m leaving it at that. But, if it did happen as reported, behaviour wise, having someone who sets standards and expects players to meet them may be the best thing for someone like Clarry. But, I am in no way insinuating that I have any idea what has actually transpired personally with him over the years or that he has a diagnosed mental health condition.

This one hurts for me. Sorry, I’m a human being and he’s my favourite player. I don’t want to see him go. I have been backing him to get back to his best. I thought having time off prior to preseason without the distraction of the club wanting to trade him combined with a new coach would set the stage for him back to near his best in 2026. I am completely powerless over whether that’s at the Dees or not, but what I most hope for is that Clarry gets back to his best both personally and professionally. I am not a booer of past players so refuse to boo him—if anything, I’ll be cheering him personally.

Agree with almost all of this and it is what I was trying to say. If reports are correct this was handled appallingly and, as I said, it reminds me (shudder) of the Neeld era.

And if he plays for another team I certainly won't boo him, he has made it plain he doesn't want to go. Rather, I will be weeping as I watch him tear us to shreds, as he is perfectly capable of doing as a footballer.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.
