The position of Clarry is not the same as JUH old Dee.

One is not able to play due to his mental and physical condition. Clarry will play at Melbourne or GWS ( or other) if he attains his clearance or he is demon.

Bulldogs have all year adhered to the health procedures and have tried to very silently solve or salvage JUH for themselves. That has proved fruitless.

If you are worried only that Clarry will not play footy in 2026 then relax that’s not going to happen.

I happen to think MFC through our new Coach were a bit dictatorial in their approach as Clarry had already stated he was fine at the Dees in 2026. About a month previously.

Anyone ever think how different things might be IF Oliver kicks a goal rather than that OOF in the dying minutes against Stkilda and we won?

Would Goody still be there? would Clayton? Would Judd? Sometimes these tiny margins lead to big changes.

FWIW I think Oliver will have an outstanding season at GWS in 26 . After that… we’ll see.

I’d assume clubs could put in clauses for this scenario but players would have to accept it. Unless the AFL comes in and says ‘player contracts with their old clubs are void if a player requests a trade and it goes through’

I think the MFC has given Clarry “lots of chances”. What Company anywhere would pay a million dollar plus salary for a $ 600.00 output ( & that’s probably generous) for 2 years. Do you really think we can pay that huge salary again in the hope he turns it around. I prefer to remember the great years he gave us & what he bought us & I will always wish the best for him but it’s time.

I think there are good reasons the new coach is willing to let carry go, none of which are public information.

Clarry is in the best physical and mental headspace he’s been in for two years

That’s great news for Clarry and GWS

Definitely feels like the worst possible time to sell for peanuts when the ability to throw away players for nothing is always at your disposal

Understand that King wants fresh air, and support his decision to do so. Just hope the decision to trade both Trac and Clarry for well below market value (unless something truly significant comes out of the Trac trade), doesn’t come back to hurt us

No he really isnt

Big stopover in Sydney, for someone who was going to the US on holidays.

I would only take an insane offer for Oliver if GWS pay his full Wage and we pick up a couple of their fringe players otherwise it is no deal .

I am sick of this club getting screwed over.

On reflection too, with players of the calibre that they are, neither probably strikes me as being part of the leadership group anyway.

Players that are that good usually hit their 30s and step up into a leadership role (and help the likes of Max and Jack to carry the load)

It's funny but I see the likes of Langford as a probable captain for us in the future even more than Trac or Oliver have.

We have to have faith the coach and club have made the right, hard decisions.

as Goody said himself, he didn’t know his role or what we stood for anymore after winning the GF. If nothing had changed, we’d simply be papering over cracks and letting the problem fester even more.

What has happened needed to happen. One step back then a couple forward hopefully. If the status quo hadn’t changed we’d have taken several more steps back.

As for the booing, I’d rather not. As I’m pretty sure we’d be booing many many times a game given their proclivity for finding the football.

No Stephen King was at the meeting where Oliver was told that he would have a modified role.

We don't know whether this information was communicated in a respectful manner or a carping demeaning manner.

Based recent comments on King and previous observations of Oliver, I suspect the former and that Oliver just cracked it.

Oliver seems to have burnt his bridges and hence , painted himself into a corner. It would be galling for him to return to MFC. So MFC need only pay a token amount say, $100k p.a. Maintaining his yearly salary or not, is his problem.
