And how did that work or for us?

We got the body language on field of a prisoner and a “leader” who couldn’t care less.

We got 16 more brownlow votes than we’d get from picks 6 & 7 for the first three plus years of their careers…

No Humphrey no deal.

There's going to have to be some serious noises in the press today from the Humphrey camp. otherwise, i can't see this happening

Either that or the finished trade is announced out of the blue and "shocks" the competition

Was Buddy Franklins an out of the blue trade? Nothing leaked until it was announced as done from memory. Everyone was expecting it to be GWS and then boom he's off to Sydney.

You get a few like that from time to time. Wishful thinking in this case perhaps.

These are exactly the situations where we should stick to the view that the Brownlow IS a credible measure of value of a player 🤣

He's welcome to explore.

That's it.

Tracc is a very different situation from Oliver.

Yes , Tracc wanted out last year.... and what colours did he wear in 25..

Spin Repeat

Nah Trac ain't staying again.

Ship has sailed this time around.

Thats not the message you use Daz.

Are you the tail or the dog.

This is ALL part of the re-education of everyone. The club's in charge. And it has been of late... ask Simon... ask Clarry ..

Sorry Bub, don’t agree.

The moment you tell a player they are welcome to “explore their options” and they choose a club they’d like to go to, you do lose the upper hand.

Gold Coast are well aware Trac wanted out last year.

We can pretend Trac can come back all we want…but it ain’t gonna happen.

Therefore when it comes to the crunch, Gold Coast may well in fact have the upper hand and we’ll get what we’re given to the best of our ability.

Just to be clear. Trac wants out. We aren't forcing him out. It's the same position as Bailey (both contracted)

The message is he wants out and thats as simple as that.

The fact that the club is already working on a deal means that both parties are fine with him leaving as long as the deal is suitable.

He ain't staying at all. These situations will eventually work itself out and he will be a Sun in 2026.

That’s all well and good. But Tracc is a selfish sook who’s kicking was abysmal last year. Worst kick inside 50 on our list. At the worst we take the picks and run.

And the only way we’ll get Humphrey is if he requests a trade.

Its not the same thing.

You can walk and chew gum.

Yes the club is happy to accommodate a deal. Thats a deal that suits Melbourne. That was iterated at the very beginning. It's deal or no deal . Not..oh well what evers best for Christian and we'll take slops.

Tracc doesn't have carte blanch to leave.

Make no mistake. Melbourne holds the whip

We hold the whip only if we are willing to stand out ground and the line in the sand has BH written instead of a actual line.

I also am getting to the point where I think Dazzle is right, I'm straying to believe Trac won't come back even if we don't get BH.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
