The cynic in me just can't see him nominating us, if he even does wish to come back home. We'd be the club that makes the most sense with obviously to trade for him, but he still has to be convinced by us. He could potentially be giving up the chance for multiple flags in the short term if he did so.

Hawks are keen, but I hope there's enough noise from Merrett to deter him choosing them.

Afl have created a monster with GC.

I agree. If Humphrey moves it'll be to Melbourne. No other team has the collateral to trade.

But he needs to want to come to Melbourne. Don't think money does it. More like the arrival of Petracca will keep him out of the midfield. Team role.

Fingers crossed. If no Humphrey can't see a deal being done.

Happy to keep Petracca. Be a real test of his professionalism and brand Petracca.

On the other hand, Petracca can step down for a year and concentrate of YouTube videos cooking.

LoL. Joking. Sort of.

Melbourne do hold the big card over GC$ - Petracca is contracted (as is Humphrey) but they need to be told that it is a swap, +/- a pick, or no deal.

If BH rates SK and our leadership group then he will jump on board with the club and the Tracc exchange deal.

It's the only way this deal gets unlocked.

No other club can offer up a player of Tracc's quality that GC want.

Because once he requests a trade, what can GC do?

And the same for Petracca and us.

Meaningless once a player asks for a trade. And even moreso when you want said player, his antics and his $$$ off your books.

I hope that Humphrey comes to us for a few reasons.

I despise Damien Hardwick, and any time he isn’t having a good day is a great day. What he did to Richmond was pathetic.

Would be brilliant having a gun small forward, which we need badly.

Would be good to see Trac moved on, whilst he’s been a champion, I believe he’s become a bit of a toxic player and has probably created a pretty poor environment at the club.

Guess we will see what happens in the coming days, my gut tells me we will lose Trac and get poor picks, and they’ll be even stronger next year.

That’s exactly how I read the trade going down.

We’re not getting BH. Craig Cameron could not have been anymore emphatic yesterday in shutting the speculation done. And so he should. Humphrey is a potential generational player and should be held to his contract, much like I’d expect us to hold onto Langford at all costs if he were under contract but was looking around.

The ball is in our court on how hard we want to play ball, and how much we’re prepared to hold Trac to his contract.

Is that defamatory?

Could have worded the same thing differently.

Humphrey not going anywhere- which is appropriate until he finds his pants. A funny old fella has Humphrey….

No BH?? How about Anderson/ Rowell then....if they want to get Petracca it will NOT get done with purely picks. Something will give or Petracca will start looking at other trading partners.

If they are only prepared to give up Ainsworth I would call their bluff and start negotiating with other clubs.

What if any of the players mooted here for trade (or even their agents for that matter) actually read these Demonland files, would there be any impact?

With the other exits from Gold Coast in Rosas and Ainsworth going in return for picks, I suspect GC are likely to offer pick 6 & 7 for Trac rather than include Humphrey…

Minimal If any.....JUH coming to town may upset a bunch of them though...watch this space.

If he wants to leave, he would have to come out and say it soon you would think…and hopefully state that the MFC is his desired destination.

How do they get enough points for their two top 10 academy picks?

Also we have said 100 times we don’t intend to trade Trac for picks alone

Gold Coast are not going to budge on their stance until/unless Humphrey comes out and requests a trade home and nominates us. While he isn’t saying he wants out, why would they blink?

The ball is in our court but really I feel it’s for picks only or a player we don’t want like Ainsworth which is pointless.

GC loading up on Trac and potentially JUH is a little desperate in my mind.

They have been building naturally, albeit slowly, this is an entirely different beast

There's is absolutely nothing "natural" about the way they built that list. Or the club as a whole 🤣

Fair, I just meant they were following a fairly steady trend of improvement.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
