Yeah funny how they are happy to throw away other contracted players, with less compelling reasons for leaving, because it suits them

They need to be careful, or they'll return to their 'mass exodus' era pretty damn quickly

Of course it suits them. BH has potential star talent, whilst Flanders and Ainsworth are expendable. And with the picks they can get Trac and their academy players. It's called good list management. Maybe we can take note.

Yepp he will wait until next year and nominate the hawks but thanks Dee's for making the request next year slightly less of a shock.

All BIG name trades to be done on the last day to last minute… It is totally deliberate and I would think a directive by the AFL.

It keeps all us Nuffies interested and is good for the AFL and its partners and all the media channels.

Bailey to the Dees last minute

That's not the point I was making

Good list management is also about making sure you build a club where players feel supported

Throwing away contracted players, but keeping ones against their compelling wishes, doesn't scream good club to me

Sometimes doing the right thing pays off

If we end up with Bailey come tomorrow night, I reckon a celebratory demonland BBQ and beers is on the cards 🤣

Hey DD. I'm a duel citizen which might confuse them. Heading up to Zambia next week, the home of the walking safari and where two tourists have been killed in the last year. One was at the hands of a hippo (and I'll be staying at the same camp!) and the other by an elephant. Exciting times.

Half Scottish/half zimbawean??? nice mix

You'll be fine. What are the odds of 3 people dying at the same place?

I'm sure some of the "compelling wishes" of players are dubious. Should would trade Kozzie if he decides he's missing his family?

Luke Jackson wanted to go home for family reasons, and the next minute there's talk that he wants to get out of there. And I think Scot Thompson pulled the wool over our eyes with his go home request.

Players that sign up for the draft know what they're in for.

Tomorrow‘s AFL headlines:

Will the Suns blow their chance of a Norm Smith medalist superstar for a young talent nobody knew a week ago…

Quote from Lamb “we said from the start we’re not trading Trac for picks”

De Goey is a desperate bluff. Humphrey + p7 for Trac. Lock it in

LOL. Not Zimbabwean. 100% Scottish and naturalised Aussie. There is absolutely zero chance that I'll be going on a walking safari on my overnight stay at Chiawa Camp. The other death was at Big Lagoon Camp. Just incase you were planning to visit either anytime soon.

You should be safe, then. Hippos are notoriously slow and clumsy with both pistols and swords.

I still don't know if the silence from Lamb is a good thing or bad...

We’re getting Sir Anthony Hopkins now??😵‍💫

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Essendon

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 2 Jacob van Rooyen

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.
