Far out, can we at least get a tip for the ponies today from the boys at the track.

#7,8 with field, field in a First Four in the next in Melbourne?(!)

He played us Bailey for his own benefit, worked the insta game perfectly for future prospects.

Big Vic clubs know he's available next year.

BBQ man was a John Denver.

Might well be a bit to this. Doesn't actually disqualify anything to date... but it might have been a ploy. ( just maybe )

Don't shoot the messenger. Just got an update but this info was from yesterday.

  1. We are still pushing hard for Humphrey. Expect any deal for picks if we don't get Humphrey (STILL HIGHLY UNLIKELY) to be done in dying minutes of trade period for this reason.

  2. As I said yesterday. GWS is low on cash given they couldn't get Leek Alir off their books. Trade is going to be awful on our end unless we can squeeze higher pick given amount of his contract we are paying for.

all reported in the media and / or predictable ... thanks just the same

No. Lamb said the deal would need to be a head turner and that deal is far from a head turner. Their first next year will prob be 14 or higher. The 7&8 this year get pushed back 4-5 spots in a weak draft.

So it's 11, 12 and say 14 for Trac, 24 and 28 which they will use on their academy players who will go top 5. We are helping them get their players. They don't want 7&8, they want to use worse draft picks.

How is that a head turner of a deal? (Other than in disbelief)

I agree. We should have got 13 first round draft picks for a near 30 year old Trac! Lamb is hopeless and needs to be skewered!

Unders.

The 7-8 won’t be pushed back 4-5 spots, maybe 2 or 3 at worst and you have no idea where they end next year. Trac is 30 yrs old and is not going to improve on previous output. Time to cash in

compare it to when Cameron went to Geelong, granted he was out of contract but it’s a better deal than that and he was only 26 or 27. Cats gave up three first-round draft picks 13, 15 and 20 and got two 2nd rounders back.

The narrative around GC not needing is not correct, they absolutely need points to get all the academy kids and if they get these with later picks and we get the prize early picks then it’s just a win for us

How's 26 first rounders? Take it or leave it.

26 first rounders and a Zinger box.

Who cares if they get their academy players? They were always getting them. This is still a better deal for Petracca than we would have gotten from any other club.

More like quick glance over the shoulder..

technically a glance is still “ a head movement”… he wins in court.

As long as it's wicked wings or hot'n'spicy. Pass if they're only offering original recipe.

How does it impact us if GC get their academy players?

7, 8 and F1 is a fantastic deal for a bloke demanding to leave

We don't need to 'win' the deal in the media/public, we just need a good outcome for MFC

Lamb said the deal would need to be a head turner …

No he didn’t. And you need to look at the whole quote.

“Ultimately, it’s up to Christian and his team now to come forward with a deal that would satisfy us. It’s got to turn our head.”

Paul Guerra

Are we satisfied? Oh yes we are.

I don't get all the carry on about picks getting pushed out due to father/son or academy selections.
eg picks 7/8 going to 11/12

Academy and father/sons aren't players we or any of the other 16 clubs would have had access to, so what difference does it make?

We still get the 7th and 8th crack at the best of what is available.

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
