Agree with that but they also get a few things right.

Picking the right Coach.

Mannagh.

Humphries.

Stengle.

O’Connor.

SDK.

Miers.

The Irish boys.

Upgrading a pick to get Holmes before us.

Cherry picking star players and having the farms to pay them and get them.

We hate it because our club is so far off the pace and has only managed to climb the mountain once in 60yrs, their sustain success reinforces how poor we are along with many other clubs!

As excellent as both the Pies and Cats looked, the Crows and Lions were equally poor. I can't remember a finals day with 2 such poor qualifying finals and 2 teams performing so poorly. So, I have hope that Pies and Cats are not sure things for the GF.

Us older supporters wax lyrical about the days of 12 suburban teams, but the AFL expansion has, for the most part, been good for the game. However, I am furious that we have ended up with an EPL style competition with a top echelon of elite wealthy clubs loved by the administrators who get spoon fee every favour and ease.

The last 4 Premiers have been single winners and I hope it continues with one of Freo or GC. I want something to deflate the planned growth of the super clubs, and then to watch the AFL cry and cringe because one of their pets or puppets can't be lauded.

Rant over. So p***ed that the Pies & Cats are through AGAIN!

Reminds me of my hot friend. He was a fast jet pilot in the RAAF, but wanted a new challenge so he went for SAS selection. He passed selection the first time around and is now an operator. His wife, an amazing human, is a surgeon (and is stunning). They couldn’t have kids of their own, so they adopted; by all accounts, the kid came from a troubled background. I thought this kid could be their downfall, I even egged him on to do bad stuff when he was young. But no, the perfect son and student, he’s nearing the end of his first year at uni studying biochemistry. They succeed at everything, it makes me sick.

Your friend reminds me of all the perfect Demonlanders.

Don’t agree totally as yes they train & play on their home ground, state gvt have contributed 140 mill over 15 years to redevelop their ground all political vote chasing! Third party deals and salary cap hasn’t been proven, but their culture and stability , list mgt strategy of not bottoming out via free agency and trading can’t be question, just compare our trades to theirs since our premiership we would be lucky to have any in the seniors, Our third president & Ceo…

Easier to do when you have the full protection from AFL HQ and the media.

You then add the millions of dollars from taxpayers, how can you lose?

But no, there is no money for the silver spoon rich boys of the MFC (Caulfield project).

I find it difficult to see any way Caufield gets done without government funding which means we're probably lobbying for it.

Cats v Pies GF is a nightmare matchup. Couldn't being myself to barrack for either of them.

Will be finding something else to do that day if that happens. Still hoping that both of them miss out.

How’s that equalisation going?

Another Geelong prelim. Another Collingwood prelim. The likely two best challengers are sides who share 8 of the last 24 flags.

Also adding, out of the current 8,

26 of those teams have played in GF's since 2001.

14 have won in 24 years.

Cats 14 prelims in 19 years.

Our home ground is the MCG, we just need to get better, somehow.....

I still think Cats have an unfair playing field, both on and off the ground.

You do have to take your hat off to Stephen Wells though.....compare that to us.

So hawks have never beaten gws over there & I really think tonight freo could steamroll gc.

It's fair to say the finals have been boring so far. Unless you're either a pies or cats fan

So, Geelong, who finished 3rd last year (2024) and made a prelim, played 18 games in VIC this year, including 6 of the last 7.

Melbourne, who finished 5th last in 2024, played 15 games in VIC.....

How is that fair or equalisation?

I have been abducted, taken to Sydney and forced to watch this game, dressed in Hawks colours! I can report that Jesse is looking very good in the warm up!

At least it's a nice sunny afternoon for it

Gee engie only holds 23000. Surely they should at least get 20k there but I doubt it

I doubt it also

GWS maximum support is 10k. Doubt that Hawks travelling support exceeds 5k

As I recall GWS v Dogs in 2016 attracted 16k (I could be wrong)

What’s this. A final at Engie Stadium?

So what’s wrong with GMHBA Stadium for a final?

The swans wouldn't let gws use the scg. Plus the giants don't have as many members as the cats do

Jeez these welcome to countries just get longer and longer every time.

It caused the game to start late. What was with the long pauses to?

Tend to agree

Geelong would make an absolute fortune with dynamic pricing and their stadium deal.

In reality it's the MCC who are stopping it with their indefensible finals lock up.

A bit like F1 renewing Monaco GP until 2034

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.
