brad scott sounds utterly defeated by the merrett shenanigans and extremely aggravated by sam mitchell

I had to go back and listen again to something Scott said coz I couldn’t believe my ears. “Other clubs are jealous of Essendon supporters.” Let me repeat that… Other. Clubs. Are. Jealous. Of. Essendon. Supporters. I know right 😅

Yeah coz who wouldn’t love to barrack for a team who haven’t won a final in 21 years, amirite?!

The bloke’s delusional

Absolutely no fn way. Amiss is Weidemen 2.0 why in earth would we give up a first round pick let alone Kolt for him.

We’d be doing Freo a favour taking him off their books.

You must be kidding Jai Amiss would be a great pickup, clever, crafty and very good goal sense!

i thought he meant that other clubs are jealous of [the loyalty and passion of] peptides supporters

which i think is fair enough - they're incredibly loyal to their side; still big numbers of members, still big crowds

The afl have a huge problem on their hands when 2x bottom 4 club captains are either leaving or want to leave for top 6 clubs.

I 100% agree with you. They created this mess and it is now making it extremely difficult for perennial cellar dwellers to challenge whilst other clubs hard spend time out of the eight. You either commit blindly to equalisation and eradicate all elements that are contrary OR you don’t and let the cards fall as they may.

the other problem was in what Scott said about player agents. Something to the effect of them saying “sign long term contract and if you want to move later , we’ll move you”. THAT is utter [censored] and should be shut down immediately. AFL is moving to set max contract years but the clubs need more power to avoid being held to ransom by these lowlife scum bags.

Brad Scott is actually too good for the current culture that is Essendon. But how much support did Matthew Knights get?

Loyalty? They hate everything that doesnt have the surname Hird, and then they were willing to help pay the legal fees of someone who resided at that time in Toorak.. Matthew Knights on the other hand was at risk of being lynched.

Seems to have worked out OK for the Suns when Steven May left. Admittedly, it has taken a while to turn it round, but salvation is possible.

That's what they get for compromising the draw, the players, the umpires and the matches. Let alone the Tribunal and the draft.

when the academy fix is in your favour it’s much easier.

I’m at a point where I’d like to see change. Given Scott is sounding like Melbourne last year huffing about contracts I don’t see Merrett moving.

If the trades we got for moving on petracca and Tholstrop netted us back Flanders and amiss (and we held onto ANY first rounder for next year) I’d be very happy with our list management.

Flanders is a prime ball mover, and has shown he has capacity to be a 30-40 touch player when white hot. He gets shunted out of position up at Gold Coast and if we had a Trac sized hole I think he would find that a clear opening to set himself up in.

Amiss is an upgrade on any of our kpf and whilst I’d love kentfield jeffo and JVR to all be demanding spots round one next year with undeniable form, at this stage we still have petty being first picked out of the goal square, when I think most supporters (including me) would rather see him set up shop in mays neck of the woods.

Im telling you now, Amiss is not a forward to build your hopes around. I think JVR is twice the player he is. Just ask any Freo player - He is Weidemann MK2.

I hope im wrong - genuinely like the bloke - but i know what i see and what i see reminds me a lot of the Weid.

In that case the eejit should’ve worded it differently 😂

We have a young Essendon supporter who we’re currently trying to lure across from the dark side 😁 He came along to one match as a guest of Duxy who’s a stalwart of the DA.

That was about three months ago. Since then he’s attended every Dees match (even interstate), every Dees AFLW match, every Dees VFL match, he’s attended banner-making and even banner-raising. He wears our regalia at every game.

On Saturday night, at the Casey semi, I noticed he was fighting back tears. Reason being, he had seen the final score of the Suns/Freo match. Here’s the thing… he was born in 2005 therefore has never seen Essendon win a final. It pained him that the Suns won a final in his lifetime before Essendon did.

Of course I listened to and consoled him but - and I’m going straight to hell for this - all the while I’m thinking awesome this’ll get him over the line. 🤭

While they are at that please also ship the filth to Tasmania. They can become the Tasmania Devils-Magpies and play with a horrible green and black stripes guernsey.

I'm licking my lips over this one too Picket.

Imagine a forward line with two power forwards Jai Amiss and el Jeffo.

At this stage of their careers I would have Amiss ahead of JVR

Bizarre thing was that wasn't it only 12 months ago he added more money to his contract after the saints came calling?

… and props to Scott for mentioning this without popping a vein in his forehead

Amiss and JVR might complement each other well. Reminds me of Brisbane where Hipwood who many regard as soft worked well with Morris this year. After Hipwood went out injured Morris’s game drops off and Brisbane’s tall forward play looked like ours last week.

Amiss can lead, has marking presence and is a reliable kick for goal. His woes started when Voss appeared. Now the Freo forward line has Tracey, Voss, Jackson and Amiss competing for the same ball in most forward thrusts. He has been crowded out.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.
