Who Will Be Our Next Coach?

Featured Replies

Prefer an experienced "younger" coach with a definite plan on how he wants the team to play and how to develop and implement.

Lots of good names being thrown around.

Experienced coaches like SImmo, Buckley, horse bring a different quality and known approach but the success of say McRae and Mitchell shows new ideas as we are not building from scratch but working to improve our existing list which has enough quality to make and compete in finals.

Absolutely no to a washed up, angry senior coach with a chip on their shoulder.

Absolutely yes to a new, fresh voice with experience working under a successful coach / at a successful club.

Personally I would like to see the role split :-

  1. Strategy, tactics, game plan etc, List Management

  2. Player relationships, Motivation, Media

Both on equal footing.

Interesting and radical. I suspect it would require an exceptional two people without supreme ego.

Another left field is Daisy Pearce

Do we go with an old head with previous success? or do we go with unproven assistant coach. such a difficult call

Either way, will be a breath of fresh air and there certainly a case a new coach could unlock the potential and re-energise the playing group. I am still of the belief we have a quality list there, just not been maximised

My choice, Steven King from Geelong

Received a message from a pal who supports another team, wrote "Maybe it’ll make you watchable now". I know we're trying to move on from the way we used to play but still interesting to see how others view our team.

One of them is a Premiership coach, who handed over the worst list in the world to Mini.

The other two are not Premiership coaches

Longmire won a flag!

Buckley - took over a young premiership list at the beginning of a potential dynasty and managed to miss finals what 3 times in a row?

The most stubborn coach of all time and couldn't deliver a flag

No thanks

Yep got a text from an Essendon mate (biatch please?!), to say it's about time.

Interesting how others view your club.

Caro's comment around mummerings of Simpson to be our new Head of Football are interesting. Does that mean a younger Senior Coach?

Buckley? Caroline Wilson has completely lost her touch.

I hope Enright.

Realistically, he’s two years away from being great. But then so is the squad.

Not expecting miracles in 26

27 is fine

Is doing a [censored] job with the back line atm

Tough gig considering the injuries and form.

I actually think we've done OK back there considering the game style and the above.

TMac, Disco, Salem, Bowey have all been good to very good.

Howes is definitely on the up.

McVee hasn't set the world on fire, but he may have an eye out the door.

Who is the best collaborator, and can bring in the best full panel of coaches? Even on a rough sketch we're looking at ten positions I would want to see filled with top quality people.

Senior.

Footy Dept Manager.

Veteran coaching mentor.

Development.

Conditioning.

Forward, back, clearance, transition.

Casey.

I really don't care for other clubs, their supporters or their supporters opinions.

Can't understand the desire for other clubs failed coaches.

I don’t like the veteran coaching mentor role.

It undermines the coach who needs to step up and do the job.

I guess it took the board 7 months to find a new CEO, who then couldn’t start for a further 4 months.

So maybe they think they will start the search for the new coach now and have them appointed by …

before round 1 2026 hopefully 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Troy Chaplin.

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

Who would have imagined, when the season kicked off early last month, that Melbourne would emerge from the opening six weeks with wins over both Queensland powerhouses? At the time, Gold Coast and Brisbane were the competition’s early pace-setters, the flavours of the month, and the prospect of the Demons toppling both within the course of a fortnight seemed remote. Yet here they are, banking those scalps alongside home victories over two traditional Victorian rivals and building a quietly impressive resume.

From the outset, the Casey Demons lacked any spring in their steps. They were out-hustled and out-bustled and finally outplayed by the Brisbane Lions by 38 points on their home turf in perfect conditions at Casey Fields.
