No thanks except on a one year deal with options.

Even then we are impliedly writing off Jefferson.

Nothing wrong with Mihocek. Like many I agree he plays several notches above his profile but it's a move smacking of desperation.

I'd be happy to trade Sparrow. Thought he would take off around 2022/23 but he's plateaued well and truly

Played 20 games, not including finals this year. 32, 33 in February. Far from too old in this day and age. I don't question his durability too much. He's still in the Pies best 22.

For us it brings a proven key forward who can actually lead and knows how to play a role for a top side. He could be a great mentor for our young forward brigade and bridge the transition period between now and them bring ready.

He plays the position we have been crying out for for years.

If $ wise he fits easily enough then why not.

Of course. Thanks. Have amended.

I really like Mihocek as a player, but I don't love him in the same forward line as Melksham. It has to be one or the other.

Mihocek is 6 cm taller than Melksham - and only 2 cm shorter than Charlie Curnow.

I still think Lamb has done an awful job with 99% of his picks.

Except that Tim Lamb doesn't make the picks.

He's List Manager. You might like to look into who the National Recruiting Manager is.

Melksham is a clever player who can play different roles in the forward line. His 2025 average player rating (9.7) was above Larkey, Hogan, Ben King, Chol, Walker, Curnow, Morris, Mihocek, Georgiades and Fogerty.

I agree Melksham had an outstanding year and probably won us or at least kept us in quite a few games. But prior to this year he's only played 44 games in four seasons and hasn't played over 20 games since 2018. So at 34 years old and with a recent history of injuries I think we need to temper our expectations of Melk.

The fact he got through 19 games this year is pleasing. But we definitely need to add to our forwardline depth and I think getting someone of Mihocek's experience to play alongside him or if Jake is injured/rested in that similar role is a smart move.

Good pickup and exactly what a team like cats does and everyone would call them geniuses when it kept them in the hunt. He’s a free agent so he would cost us nothing other than cap space so unless he is costing us the world I don’t see a downside

Just my attempt to poke fun at Checkers' age I'm afraid

2 year deal with trigger for a 3rd on offer according to The Age

Agree with some concerned posters here.

We have JVR, Jeffo and Kentfield. The club must have question marks over these guys!!!

Mihocek is a smart footballer and knows how to kick goals. Gunston has shown how effective that smarts and footy IQ can be

He will be 33 in February. A 2-year deal is okay at a maximum. Say $550k a season. Perhaps a trigger for a third year if he plays more than 14 games in 2027.

Assume he’s an Unrestricted free agent?

Just saw Jack Buller feom Swans going to request a trade to Pies... obviously Pies are looking at life after BM.... why aren't we going for Jack Buller instead of BM??

is there anyone that doesn't have question marks on these guys?

2 have barely played and the other has gone backwards

Offering more than 2 years is a terrible call. Is his heart in it? Or, is he looking for a retirement fund? Has the potential to backfire big time. The bloke can be dangerous. He is also a seagull, who kicks a lot of goals getting out the back

I’m in, he doesn’t cost picks and we desperately need players who are natural instinctive forwards to improve our conversion rate and to mentor the younger forwards. Of course if our ball movement and delivery doesn’t improve nothing changes.

the swans were throwing mccartin and hamling forward and went to the well with ladhams 3 times before they gave him a game, the pies want him to be 38th man on the list, we'd need him to be a walk up start round 1. fits firmly in the fullarton/schache pile for me

Yep agree, we really need a experienced key forward to show the way for Roo, kentfield, and jeffo to hopefully take over KF in 2 years. Good move if we get BM

Our list management team can’t afford Kayo.

i'd say yes good move, but look at may's last month, and BM is only 12 months younger, may has hit a cliff and yes his stremgths were speed and kicking which are very hamstring oriented but mihocek might find it tough after 12 months to contribute, whats your opinion on whether darling has been a success at North

Haven't really watched North enough to know but it is hard to judge the effects of these types on there team mates. For mine we missed a trick not getting a Darling or even Membrey last year. So I'm a yes to BM we just need to know what Roo can do with a full preseason along side some experience in his position

All roads seem to lead to BM joining us in the red and blue next year, including the Pies seemingly expecting this outcome now.

Regardless what you think of this decision from the club there is no doubt he brings experience and leadership

Don't mind Brody coming across at all... was always a thorn in our side....pain in the arzze to play against. Happy to have that working for us. Will straighten up our attack, sta, muchly 👍

Mihocek in, Petty back, May out.
