I think every single supporter on Demonland feels exactly the same way. On the off chance that the podcast does end up going on, could someone please explain to me what the **** just happened?

I'm more meaning tactically but in a general sense as well. Did Ross Lyon just put on a masterclass and Goody failed to adjust? Did the players just give up? Are we just completely and utterly [censored]? 3 quarters of great football and then a team who is well known for being able to turn it on occasionally is allowed to just waltz through the corridor at will.

The club has just absolutely [censored] the bed. No CEO, President is absent and we roll out a performance like that. I've pretty firmly been in favour of Goody being allowed to see out this mini rebuild but after today I don't see how he can. Memberships tally will take a massive hit and we have all gone back to the days of being absolutely embarrassed to be a Dee's fan. Darkest day since Kardinia park.

Bless you if you have the strength to turn the microphones on this week, if not, I completely understand.

I will happily broadcast the podcast in your place Andy, as long as you’re willing to accept 90 minutes alternating between swearing, yelling, sobbing quietly and incoherently rambling while curled up in the fetal position in the corner.

Why on earth do they appoint people that had to take 6 months of leave?

This situation is very critical, the CEO and President should be available ASAP once appointed. Instead we are like "No worries mate see you in 6 months". šŸ¤¦šŸ»šŸ¤¦šŸ»šŸ¤¦šŸ»

I usually can find optimism in most games, but that was disgusting. Im not defending Goody here at all. But that is on a weak and insipid playing group to not hold onto that lead.

Pathetic

All we can hope for is an Andy rant that reflects the temperature of demonland.

We are done with Stats that say we should of won !!

We want content on what should be done to stop the rot of Goodwin and his self appointed boys club.

Yes he got us a premiership, but God damn it !!!What's going g on in unexceptable.

We are on track to be the next Essendon, irrelevant for 20 years !!

If a podcast does happen. Is there a rule that stops AFL clubs from appointing and having a President and CEO start mid season.

Because I am disgusted that Brad Green has been left to see out the season while the two new guys are on holidays. The club is rudderless and we are meant to be happy for the new guys to come in after the season ends?

I don't blame you @Demonland/Andy. I nearly broke my TV today, I was so f##king angry! 🤬🤬🤬🤬

Instead of a podcast, Demon members and supporters should ring the Melbourne Football Club and voice their frustration and dissatisfaction about the horrible loss to St. Kilda.

To lose a game after being up by 46 points at 3/4 time is totally unacceptable.

Heads must roll! 🤬🤬🤬🤬

@Demonland

Binman - No stats this week

Andy - Please give us the biggest RANT ever !!! That last quarter killed me inside.

For three quarters, all was good. Liked the game. Viney was tackling everyone in sight. Fritta kicking goals. Maxy clearly has ALL AUSTRALIAN honours again.

I was looking forward to a nice 8 goal win and a relaxing Sunday night!! NO TEAM LOSES FROM 46 POINTS UP

But wait … then … WHAT THE

We gave them momentum

Our players panicked

Oliver runs into goal from 20 metres out and misses EVERYTHING

6-6-6 kindergarten mistake

Embarrassing

Heartbreaking

Soul destroying

We are the laughing stock of the AFL

We are an irrelevant club

That’s the truth

WE ARE ALL IN HELL

A joke really. Can you imagine going to a job interview and be like "by the way I had already planned 6 months of leave so I will see you when I see you"?

Do we have a sports psychologist? So often we underperform due to complacency or fear. Surely we need a new one (and obviously a new fitness coach) before the preseason starts.

Noooo! We need the group therapy session.

I've been staring at my screen for 20 minutes trying to figure out what im feeling after that game. I cant get over the amount of people, including myself, that saw that last qtr coming. That is absolute madness!!

I feel like we're in for another Neeld era and im not going to come along for the ride this time. Ive been there before and ive got better things to do with my time and money. From now on im going to be a proud fair weather supporter. Im canceling my premium membership and downgrading to a much cheaper membership.
I will always listen to the Demonland podcast though.

I said it after losing 5 to start the season, I'll say it again:

How do you sell hope to a fan base after something like that? MFC fans have had to tolerate a lot and this just feels loke the dark days are back.

Thanking you all, binman, Andy, George for your tireless efforts, quite unlike our playing and off field team.

I started post match being angry, but that quickly morphed into incredulity- did I see what I saw?

It took me back to maybe 1991 v EssenDrug when I recall we lead by a similar margin at ¾ ,then kicked an early goal but got run over. It seriously took me years to trust the team to win from a big lead, and then they put on this over an inconsistent cr@p team!!

I cannot trust this team, this club anymore. Deer in the headlights stuff. Shameful.

Others have asked my question - is there a sports psychologist at our mess of a club? If not, why not? If so, why is he / she / it not given marching orders, tonight?

I believe we have 3 more MCG games. I am so shattered that I don’t think I will be able to attend, or even watch. This club has destroyed my faith.

I want to talk about leadership:

If twenty senior players on really high salaries agreed to forego $50k for one season it would be enough to terminate Simon (Record breakingly) Badloss' contract a year early without the club suffering any more financial loss and embarrassment.

Show some leadership Demons

Honestly. Who gives PH AR CK about this club anymore. It should refund all 55k members after that insipid quarter.

3 minutes to go and your 1.4 million dollar a year man is on the bench.

A) If the players are at fault it seems bizarre they'd not only claim it's not them but also go out of their way to throw someone else under the bus. Regularly players would get delisted not due to lack of ability but because they downright refuse to follow coaches' instructions, and come October, they've used up every last bit of coach leniency. Ive no idea why our players cannot get things right. But it might mainly be selfish or stupid players or conversely it could be you're right and Goodwin should be turfed before November.

B) If Goodwin has lost the players a much easier plan is to just keep failing spectacularly - a 10 goal loss to West Coast next week may well save everyone a fortune. Just keep in mind if he hasn't lost the players his sacking may do more harm than good for team morale and suddenly like with GC and GWS's debut drafts we're forced to watch Tasmania take the highest picks we desperately need (and if the players are the problem we prolong the suffering a few more years while throwing away the rare phenomenon of a coach who proved he could win his current team a flag)

Why such a short episode?

Soooo.... what happened in that last quarter?

For a coach that is constantly talking about learnings why do we never seem to learn anything?

PS feel bad for you Andy (and George and binman), we are all in the same boat. There's only so much we can take as supporters. You give vent to our frustrations, it can be cathartic listening to the podcast so hope you do go ahead but completely understand if there is a hiatus. It is emotionally exhausting following this club.

They are back. And the thing that got a lot of people through the dark days of 2007 to Roos (I would say a bit earlier, to be honest, but it's not the the done thing) - that deep down we knew we were mostly watching battlers have a crack - is no longer there.

This is a team comprising players who don't just know how to win 10 in a row or fight back against very good opponents, but win a flag! And now they're routinely getting beaten by 10 or 15 goals, perennially losing to Carlton and setting the most embarrasing records in football.

He doesn't even learn new words or phrases to use on his next insipid press conference.

I feel your pain, shame and embarrassment. I hope you guys hang in there and the team can find a way to make a small mend in the very broken hearts of demon supporters. How we lost that - and to that smug prig Ross Lyon - is beyond the laws of physics. It was dumb and dumber football.

@Demonland @binman

Shall we send Terrence back to Brussels? Poor soul.

Has seen a victory,

Then an insipid spineless effort against Carlton and

now viewed one of the greatest white flag implosions of a club in 32 minutes v the Saints

Seriously questions … so many but

WHY WAS KOZZZY ON THE BENCH FOR THE LAST PART OF THE QUARTER AND INDEED FOR SUCH CRUCIAL MINUTES?

WHAT WAS SAID AT 3/4 TIME? It must have been to relax and not compete ?

HOW DO WE SOLVE THE CLARRY CONFIDENCE CRISIS? He showed again his heart and soul effort, unquestioned, but he panics with the footy and (in the big moment) with 2 minutes to play, his run into goal and to miss everything from 20 metres out was destroying to everyone?

HOW CAN THE CLUB RESPOND? WE ARE A LAUGHING STOCK? WE CANNOT GO BACK TO BEING IRRELEVANT? WE WANTED A GRAND FINAL VICTORY AT THE MCG, TO EXPERIENCE THE THRILL ... BUT WE FEEL AS FAR AWAY AGAIN AS EVER !!

This week we need therapy … can the pod provide solace and unity and compassion for the true believers in the red and the blue ???

I would suggest Goodwin wears the psychologist hat as well as the coach's hat. Therein lies the dilemma.

  • REPORT: Western Bulldogs

The next coach of the Melbourne Football Club faces the challenge of teaching his players how to win games against all comers. At times during this tumultuous season, that task has seemed daunting, made more so in light of the surprise news last week of the sacking of premiership coach Simon Goodwin. However, there were also some positive signs from yesterday’s match against the Western Bulldogs that the challenge may not be as difficult as one might think. The two sides presented a genuine football spectacle, featuring pulsating competitive play with eight lead changes throughout the afternoon, in a display befitting a finals match. The result could have gone either way and in the end, it came down to which team could produce the most desperate of acts to provide a winning result. It was the Bulldogs who had their season on the line that won out by a six point margin that fitted the game and the effort of both sides.

  • CASEY: Brisbane

The rain had been falling heavily in south east Queensland when the match began at Springfield, west of Brisbane. The teams exchanged early goals and then the Casey Demons proceeded like a house on fire in the penultimate game of the VFL season against a strong opponent in the Brisbane Lions. Sparked by strong play around the ground by seasoned players in Charlie Spargo and Jack Billings, a strong effort from Bailey Laurie and promising work from youngsters in Kynan Brown andĀ  Koltyn Tholstrup, the Demons with multiple goal kickers firing, raced to a 27 point lead late in the opening stanza. A highlight was a wonderful goal from Laurie who brilliantly sidestepped two opponents and kicked beautifully from 45 metres out.
