Can never say never, but if we get smashed by a bottom 4 side with 12 premiership players we are looking at a very, very long decade ahead. Saints arent much chop to be spanking teams.

Jefferson is going to have a break out game one of these weeks. He knows how to lead and find space. Much better option to kick to than petty or jvr imo.

Somewhat of a flippant comment tbh, but I could honestly see us repeating our earlier encounter this year.

I agree on Jefferson, I've seen a few 'moments' and I think there's a bit there we can work with. He also seems to have the most forward craft in terms of leading that we have outside of Melksham; I'm not including Fritsch in this as he really should be our second or third forward.

Is that in General Admission?

As much as I love JVRs attitude and physical presence, I mentioned in round 5 I thought he and Petty were going to be a bit of a liability for our midfield. By his own admission he isnt a leading forward. But he's young and talented so he should be tried in different positions a bit imo. What should be clear by now is that him and Petty definitely dont work in the same forward line. They arent fast or slippery enough when the ball is in transition quickly, especially against the best defenders. Both Turner and Jeffo seem to be able to lose their men.

Leave Jefferson in please. I think he struggle with the dewy conditions but there were still moments like the smothers and bringing the ball to ground.

Him and JVR just need to continue that forward synergy.

I'll be in GA with a Saints supporting pal, i hope we win so i can watch him suffer. But alas i feel it may be me doing the suffering.

Good lord, then why on earth did we allow him to play when it was a clearly going to impact his performance?

Surely we could've brought in Howes and allowed Rivers to fill Petracca's role?

This is nothing more than bad management!

Have we reached peak misery yet or is there still some way to go?

It's the next highest in the range (of unhappiness) after this one.

No opinion on changes but I’d love to see Langdon wearing NWM like a glove.

I'll actually be down in Melbourne for this game. Where will the majority of Dees fans be sitting at Marvel? Not been to a game down in Melbourne in an eternity!

The cheer squad will be in Aisle 1, Level 1 (Bourke St. end). We’re hoping the adjoining bays will be GA but won’t know until the day before. It’s St Kilda’s home game.

Another game I really want to win. Don’t want to get into a habit of [censored] teams like St Kilda getting the wood on us. Carlton are already on a 4 match winning run.

Stopped North from two in a row and must stop St Kilda from getting consecutive wins. I can cop being mediocre and losing to good sides, but losing to West Coast last season was embarrassing.

2 losses against St Kilda in the one season would be just as bad.

We're getting there.. Learning to move forward week by week.

No, we will approach the peak at the end of the season when we realise that the senior coach is continuing and 2026 will be worse than 2025.

3 more years of Tracc,Viney and Oliver.a forward line with the best player being 35 and a back line with May(cant bend down to tie up his shoes)Lever.Sallo,Bowie and Rivers stat hunting and Gawn in his twilight year or years, one more knee injury thou and who we got.line coaches who have no idea and Goody who is so delusional and nothing changes.so if nothing changes its going to be a while

This would have been 100% Petracca's decision. The Drs would have asked him if he was feeling well enough to play and he would have put his hand up and said yes

Apart from impeding his performance, it also puts his health at risk. People do drop dead when pushing to extremes with viral infections. Not a smart decision by whomever ultimately made it.

As for players saying "I am ok", didn't Brett Mooney say the same in 186?

Given our recent record at Marvel and our record against 11th - 15th sides this year, I think we all know where this one's heading.

The only factors I'm clinging to hope are:

1) we usually respond after an especially poor performance

2) The two players that were responsible for 7 of their 14 goals in the Alice won't be there on Sunday.

I hear you.

I’m asking how do you do this? he is 33 and still AA. Who is to say he won’t be AA at 35. how does he get a young ruck to come up? No ruck wants to play Casey for years

Gawn 100% compromised with Grundy. Any coincidence it’s the only year in 9 years he wasn’t AA??

If Greg Swann gets his way now that he's at AFL HQ, he's going to get rid of the ruck nomination rule and have the field umpires throw the ball up and the boundary umpires throw the ball in much more quickly. That will necessitate teams playing at least two players capable of being ruckmen on the field at all times. I suspect it will be delivered as a rule change at the same time as the sub is abolished in favour of a fifth interchange player. (I support the first idea, but not the second, even though the coaches will argue that the fifth interchange player allows them to play another ruck option.)

Max (and every other number 1 ruckman) will need more help on field if this happens.

Mt Hopeless, which Burke & Will's were trying to reach would be more apt (in several ways).

OUT - Jefferson, May, Sharp,

IN - Johnson, Petty (back), Sparrow (extended squad Kenfield, Laurie, Howes)

AJ to take 2nd ruck and free up JVR. Kentfield to keep knocking the door down at casey

Kolt should be out too but not sure who for, maybe Laurie?

  • Thank You Simon Goodwin

As Demon fans, we’ve ridden a rollercoaster of emotions over the decades; the heartbreaks, the near misses, the wooden spoons, and the endless waiting. But through it all, we clung to hope. And then came Simon Goodwin. Before he ever wore red and blue, he was a champion in his own right. A five-time All-Australian, two-time Best and Fairest, and two-time premiership hero and Captain with Adelaide, Simon Goodwin was always destined to lead. When he transitioned from the field to the coach's box, first as an assistant at Essendon, he began shaping a new legacy.
